I know what you´re thinking "Athene is just trolling again", but no, not this time. It´s true, as the king has really returned to World of Warcraft. Not only that, Athene also intend to bring back old school Gaming into the world of games.
So this should be a rather interesting project to watch for sure, but will Athene be able to pull this one off?
PAX EAST has officially confirmed that Blizzard and 2K Games are amongst the bigger names attending the show. This would be two of the bigger names to return to live U.S. shows since the Covid Pandemic.
Good to hear. Past couple of years the show floor is getting smaller & smaller, with more space everywhere. Food truck trucks made their way on to the expo hall floor last year. Haven't seen that since 2012.
We stopped going to PAX West and let local team cover it. We could not justify airfare, rental car, food, hotel, etc for indies.

Weird MS is letting go of a good IP. I don’t mind it but hopefully the best dev wins and I’m not sure who that is outbid those.
What they are bidding for are exclusive rights to develop the IP. Microsoft/blizzard is essentially licensing it out to the highest bidder, not selling the IP.
I wonder if we'll see Starcraft Ghost come out of this. And if we do, I wonder if it'll be a free-to-play gacha game.
Given the potential developers, looks inevitable there will be free to play gacha versions. But given south korea’s love for starcraft there would be one that is inline with starcraft 1&2.
Might want to expect some sort of backdoor cheat that only south koreans know of lol 🤣
