Watch it be a digital only release. Damn it nintendo...

chrish19903649d ago

Nah, too big a game to be digital only. Fingers crossed...

iplay1up23649d ago

I would think you would be right, but look at Fatal Frame. Digital only.

chrish19903649d ago

Fair point... I hope it does get a retail box - I despise buying digital

Cindy-rella3649d ago

Ill wait for the ps4 version and if the developers are smart theyll have it in production. Its a waste of time putting third party games on the wii u or the next nintendo nx console.

CaptainN3649d ago

Hey Cindy...news flash, this is an exclusive Wii U title that Nintendo funded so good luck holding out for a PS4 version LOL.Bet you are waiting for Bayonetta 2 to show up as well...frikin troll. Its not a waste to put third party games on Nintendo platforms if you actually make an effort!!

Nick_The_Slick3649d ago (Edited 3649d ago )

CaptaiN - Cindy is a huge troll elsewhere too, and no offense, but didn't Bayonetta 2 sell really poorly on the WiiU, proving that all the fanboy excuses are just hot air, and that people don't buy 3rd party WiiU games no matter how good, exclusive or mature-rated they are?

SpeedDemon3648d ago

@NickyNick
Well the 1st one on the 360 and PS3 didn't sell much better, so it might not be the best example.

Heavenly King3648d ago (Edited 3648d ago )

@SpeedDemon

Bayonetta 1 sold 2.2M, and Bayonetta2 sold less than 1M

Realplaya3648d ago

@ Heavenly King 2.2 million across 2 platforms to date with an install base of 160 million combined.

phoenixwake3647d ago

I wouldn't be too sure. I Am Alive was turned to a digital only game, and that was absolutely intended to be a boxed full release.

N4g_null3649d ago

Why does it matter if it's digital only... wait that trade in cost, got ya. Wink wink.

Concertoine3649d ago

Because i just like having a physical copy and i dont want to buy a hard drive

Segata3649d ago

Some collect like me. Why I buy physical.

pcz3649d ago

you never truly own a digital copy.

you cant take it around your friends.

you cant lend it to somebody.

you cant sell it on when you are done with it.

you cant trade it.

you dont have the nice artwork/packaging that comes with a physical copy

....

its no wonder devs stay away from nintendo consoles when their games get shelved, put on hold or no promotion/sales.

lovely way to get peoples optimism up for the NX.

nintendo did the same with the wii.. in my opinion, the wii was a fantastic console, but in contrast its last year or so was dismal. nintendo just abandoned it. it left a bad taste. it seems nintendo are doing the same to the wiiu now.

Bronxs153649d ago

I bought witches 3 for 70 dollars in Canada. Now I'm done with the game I just sold it for 40 dollars. Can't do that with digital.

I just traded in my 360 for an Xbox one. Kept all my physical games for 360. Couldn't do that with digital. Sure I can redo load them. But then my hard drive space is limited.

Dan503649d ago

GOG has DRM free games, you own them.

Jalva3649d ago

Because people on here like to get physical with their hard discs.

Segata3649d ago

Reggie said always be a physical option for games just yesterday. So seems Fatal Frame will be retail.

wonderfulmonkeyman3649d ago

The option should be there, but it won't stop me from getting it if it's not.

deadpoolio3163649d ago

Nope probably going to be a NOV 2016 NX launch title along with Zelda....

quantae063648d ago (Edited 3648d ago )

@Heavenly King Bayonetta 1 sold across 2 consoles that had a much larger install base than Bayonetta 2. If anything the attach rate was on Bayonetta 2 isn't bad.

addictedtochaos3649d ago

GameStop is taking pre-orders for a physical release.

gameboy13649d ago (Edited 3649d ago )

Devils Third looks amazing and it will come to the west in Sept...

superchiller3649d ago

Doesn't look good for this game coming out anywhere but Japan, sadly. Understandable, considering that it probably won't sell very well outside of Japan, and probably not even very well there. It sounds like a very niche game anyway.

Dunban673649d ago

Didn t Europe already have a release date of August? did they pull that too?

IMO it would sell better in NA than Japan due to the home console market being much larger in NA

They should HAVE to give us Devils Third as a price for releasing Animal Crossing Amiibo whatever it is

IMO we are at or close to the peak for Amiibo popularity- Prob not many will agree w that and I could be wrong but how long can something be popular based on being "rare" and the "illusion of being rare"

Nate-Dog3649d ago

Yeah I thought we got a release date of August 26 or so in Europe. What happened to that?

Dunban673649d ago

I m still not sure if the Europe date is still a good date or not- I would feel our chances in NA are better if EU gets it too and not just Japan

98xpresent3649d ago

This game is gonna bomb hard. Nintendo fans don't like Games like this

wonderfulmonkeyman3649d ago

Just like you don't like any game, regardless of how good it is, if it's only on a Nintendo console.
People who fall back on blaming the system or its fans for the sales of exclusives, are just as much at fault for good exclusives failing to sell on Wii U as the closed-minded Nintendo fans are.
Because console loyalties prevented them from jumping in.

nidhogg3649d ago

Yup. That's why Nintendo is failing. Because of fans like you.

superchiller3649d ago

@nidhogg - No, Nintendo is failing because they aren't offering products that people want. It's really as simple as that, no need to try to blame gamers when it really isn't their fault at all.

jholden32493648d ago

Last I checked Nintendo still has 50+ million 3DS units sold, wouldn't say they're "failing" because of one platform any more than Sony is failing for the Vita.

The reason Nintendo is having a hard time, is there aren't many gamers left who are open minded and true gaming connoisseurs who seek out the fun experiences.

90% of people who refer to themselves as "gamers" just play whatever the massive multibillion dollar machine tells them they should play. Whatever is advertised the most. Whatever gets the biggest spotlight. Whatever is socially accepted.

Nintendo's problem is they're actually focused on core gaming experiences. Always pushing the box to provide fun games no matter how awkward they may appear, or socially disconcerting they may come off.

Nintendo is for the gamers. And most people nowadays are pop-gamers, no different than the masses who listen to pop music and whatever is regurgitated on the radio.

The games are actually fun as hell and some of the most addictive experiences you can find. But most people don't know that because they're not interested in trying them out. They're perfectly ok playing whatever they're told they should like and nothing more. Which, to me that's not a gamer any more than a Lady Gaga fan is a follower of true music.

That's not to say there aren't some exceptional games out there by 3rd parties, but to the 90% of "gamers" who think that's all there is worth playing, they're sorely depriving themselves of the best video games ever made.

Dannycr3647d ago (Edited 3647d ago )

@jholden3249

In a sea of arrogant comments and behavior, yours is truly...TRULY the king of that sea.

Congratulations. Feel free to enjoy the prize of my obvious disagreement and a -1 bubble for that amazing level of immaturity.

As a Nintendo fan. I love games like this. Some of my faves are games like this.

Talk about a kick in the nutter butters

naruga3093d ago (Edited 3093d ago )

this game creator payed his idiocy to change the development for exclusive release on a dying hopeless console with the best way ....the game was generally good i liked it and was the closest thing to a hardcore Ninja Gaiden we could get on new consoles ....but literaly its creator was idiot as f..k to undermine his game (it was obviously downgraded for Wii u) and release it exclusively on a underpowered system for some cash, destroyed his name in a moment

rjason123092d ago (Edited 3092d ago )

Oh boo hoo. Someone didn't get a game to come to their system.

@Edmix
Believe me I know the feeling haha, just pushing out a similar statement many others make, just cause.

ShaunCameron3092d ago (Edited 3091d ago )

@ rjason

Apparently.

@ XisThatKid

How did they ask for it? You know the company responsible for the engine used to make the OG game went under forcing Itagaki to scrap it and start over, right? Not to mention THQ, its original publisher, eventually withdrawing support before going under. As for it becoming a Wii U exclusive, Nintendo was the one willing to help Itagaki with the funding to finish making the game.

_-EDMIX-_3092d ago

This is easily one of the stupidest investments I've ever seen any company ever make for an exclusive by a third party. I'm surprised you think the game is any good at all because I don't really believe the Wii U made this game bad, believe it was going to be bad regardless of where it was. The Wii U has a handful of really great games please do not blame the hardware for how crappy this game actually is. To my understanding when you create a game for a specific piece of Hardware your job is to adapt. So do not blame the hardware for why this game was horrible blame the developer for even downgrading the game in the first place as opposed to adapting to their situation. If you have to downgrade a game so significantly that it begins to affect the design and quality you're probably not supposed to be downgrading it in the first place to such a platform. I don't blame the platform in this respect I blame the developer because they chose to continue despite knowing the hardware differences. The regular Wii U exclusives don't have that problem because they were made to actually work on that platform...

@rjason- could be because it sounds to me like he basically likes the game but he's angry at the decision of it being exclusive somewhere else

XisThatKid3092d ago (Edited 3092d ago )

I have not felt so selfish about a game before. I like many waited and waited patiently since this games release and out of no where Wii U exclusive. At the time i didn't have a Wii u and honestly i wanted it for ps3 but that never happened nor for 4. Anyway i honestly am glad this happened. Save for the innocent dev and people involved But i never wanted a game to fail so badly. Not to mention when i finally played it i think it sucks imho. I'm fine with exclusives but when a game's announced for your console or platform of choice then retracted they're asking for it.

bouzebbal3091d ago

he had no big name to start with.. this same guy did the same to DOA4 and Ninja Gaiden for 360 and in the end he talks s### about Team Ninja about NG3 and DOA5. He's a loser !

blackblades3093d ago

Ikr it looked interesting in the beginning before it became an nintendo exclusive. Don't know what happened when it became an exclusive.

_-EDMIX-_3092d ago

Who knows , it was probably always going to be bad.

Ravenor3092d ago

A lot happens when a game gets developed. A proof of concept demo or pre rendered video being received well doesn't necessarily equate to a game game being good.

BLKxSEPTEMBER3092d ago

I'm still looking to buy a copy at a reasonable price.

ocelot073092d ago

Depends on where you are located. Here in the UK you can pick this up for around £12.

BLKxSEPTEMBER3092d ago

I'm in California. I haven't seen a hard copy yet.

xMANB3ARP1G3091d ago

bro you wont they made so few copies they are mostly locked in cages atm in ppls collections waiting for the value to skyrocket.

BLKxSEPTEMBER3091d ago

Yeah that's what I figured.

xMANB3ARP1G3091d ago

i only say that because im in the same boat all physical copies near me were scooped up day one and ebay had a field day

alfcrippinjr3092d ago

and this is why we should not support nintendo any more
they done it with the wii and they killed the ds off for no reason.

total bad for business

ShaunCameron3092d ago

Um. You can still get the main D3rd game, albeit digitally. The only thing they killed here was the online multiplayer.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3092d ago

Wait why are peopole acting like they care now? You didn't when it was released.

gangsta_red3092d ago

Yea, I haven't heard a peep or a whisper of this game since its debut.

gamer78043091d ago

its the principle of it, i don't like seeing any games shut down so quickly

Chaos_Order3092d ago

I don't think Itagaki is crazy for making a Wii U exclusive.

I think he's crazy for pushing out a half baked, flawed as all hell, generic gore fest on the Wii U without making use of any of the console's specific features, and throwing his toys out of the pram when people criticise it.
