GearNuke: "Insomniac shares details on the game's length and explains the changes between the original and the new release."
10-12 hours game length for 40$ is pretty good. I am pretty excited to play this. I pray that Naughty Dog looks at this game and try to make Jak 4 close to it. With their wizardly skills in the visual department, it could be one the best looking games in the history.
It is more than 12 hours as they said the game is longer than the previous Ratchet and Clank game Into The Nexus, which took around 10 to 12 hours to complete.
Into the Nexus was like a 2-3hr game....I think your thinking of Crack in time...Nexus was definitely short.
I thought Quest for Booty was 2 to 3 hours because it was 15 dollars and Into the Nexus was like double that because it was 30 or something. Edit: Yeah that's right. How long to Beat has it at about a six hour average time to beat. Only 11 hours for completionist. I wish this was a 20 hour R&C game because it looks amazing.
Try again. Into the Nexus: http://howlongtobeat.com/ga... A Crack In Time: http://howlongtobeat.com/ga...
@deadpool, my mistake, mixed up time of crack in time with into the nexus.
And it's fun to play new game + which insomniac has always included in this series, so even more play time!
@ Rashada it would been nice if insomniac made this game from scratch instead of combinding all4one , parts of QFB, parts of into the nexus, parts of crack in time, parts of tools of destruction. one gun from each game added . what i've seem so far flame thrower and Negotiator, and New pixilator gun look Beautiful.
"We’re 1080p/30fps… our goal was to match or exceed the fidelity of CG animated movies. When we first started we realized that was actually possible with PS4. Pretty exciting." Thank the lack of sales for ACiT for this... http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...
This is very interesting. So according to this, they purposely go 30FPS in order to max out graphics. And they don't feel that it makes any difference to their bottom line. Pretty honest IMO
Framerate hardly makes any difference in sales. It's more for bickering on internet forums. Graphics quality on the other hand is much more tangible, and while I know it's kind of messed up, graphics quality still matters to many consumers. More often than not, the vast majority of people wouldn't sit there and focus on the frame rate while playing a game. They may notice its not as smooth, but that's about it. Kind of been that way since the beginning of console gaming, as the best looking games generally always sold well.
I don't get why they do this.. 720p 60fps > 1080p 30fps
Because they would have to downgrade the assets as well. Dropping the resolution doesn't guarantee a solid 60FPS. With the way the game is looking I doubt anyone would want Insomniac to downgrade the game to satisfy a minority.
I think there should be more options on consoles. Let us choose: 720p 60fps or 1080p 30fps! Seriously, can't argue with choice like that, then we don't have huge arguments over it and they can max their sales.
@Peace You are right, but I'm sure they dont want that extra man hours to be spent on optimizing a different output, after all this is console gaming where the name of the game is coding for a fixed set of assets, hence why console gaming is so sought after and profitable.
@MasterCornholio So what you're saying is the developers care more about graphic fidelity than the performance of how the game runs? That's exactly why I prefer 720p 60fps over 1080p 30fps.
It's really sad but this is how most devs think. improving graphics just sells better than improving gameplay.
Frame rate* although some do sacrifice gameplay for graphics as well.
That's what we get for playing games on the cheapest possible hardware for AAA gaming.
Ugh! I can't wait!
It sure looks like it'll be the Ratchet and Clank experience I've dreamed of.
So by different experience they mean not this: https://www.youtube.com/wat... but rather this: https://www.youtube.com/wat... Yup that quite the upgrade.
So its a new game. Cool, I'm in.
Little let down its 30 fps but it still looks fun and $40 is a great price. Think ill fire up my PS2 and play some of the classics again.
They chose graphics over framerate. Doesn't bother me. As long as it's a solid 30FPS, I'm cool with it. It's amazing how good this game looks compared to the PS3 versions.
Probably the length will be like the two PS3 games ( A Crack in Time, Tools of Destruction), it's a great value for $40.
Sure if they want to make amazing graphics and at 30fps too fine but if we get a 30fps experience that lags and doesn't even look that good then that's even worse than downgrading the graphics for 60fps. For me Super Mario 3D World looked amazing and played amazing at 60fps. Why Nintendo is the only one who can make a good looking cartoon style 60fps game with almost no bugs on weaker hardware I will never know. It would be awesome if Sony had a game that was a platformer similar to 3D World. Knack comes to mind but I've never played it and the frame-rate test made it look like a laggy experience which is why I haven't bought it. 3D platformers are my favorite genre but there are not any good ones on PS4 yet. Wii U has some though. Hopefully this Ratchet and Clank game is good but I had one on PS3 and I didn't really like it, of course I never finished it either.
R&C is like crack for my soul....love them all. This game looks insane and the power of PS4 really shines in this work of art by Insomniac. These guys were always one of my favorite devs and from R&C to Resistance I have always loved their work. Day ONE 4 me...cant get here soon enough.
