A Review Of Bloodborne Based On 200 Hours Of Twitch And YouTube Videos

Forbes:
When I shut down my computer after more than 200 hundred hours of watching, it felt like an abandonment of something, releasing myself from those hundreds and thousands and millions who would all come along to watch in their own time, chattering mites chirping to each other through the veiny network wires. I felt profoundly alone in cutting the tie to it all, a pastime that has the peculiar effect of making all one’s time outside it seem newly impassable, a catalyst for imaging one’s life as a vessel waiting to be filled by the humming energy of other eyes. And when the lid closes on the portal to all those distant eyes, I feel for a few minutes like the outsider in the newly alien landscape of my apartment, appointed in a garish and excessive realism that makes the accumulated knowledge of lore and systems feel as useless as a corpse, which once seemed weightless when there were hundreds of us carrying it.

That's a really interesting way of doing a review, nice work!

Nitrowolf23620d ago

I wouldn't count this a review at all. Watching and playing are 2 completely different things. First off, this skews your opinion of the game in general because you are watching someone else play it, going based off how they feel. If I wanted to review this game based off watching someone, I could just search 'DSP Plays Bloodborne" and pretty much come to the conclusion that this game is utter trash because of that. Sure, you could say why not find a streamer who likes the game then, well that's just being bias at that point.

I never understood some of these guys who reviews games just from watching it, IMO it's a poor opinion when you have someone else playing and commentary on what they think, therfor making you think it

Jimboms3620d ago

How about watching it playthroughs with no commentary? Then there's no bias, pure gameplay.

_Knightmare_3619d ago

Going a bit off-topic: you obviously have the right to dislike DSP, but why did you make it look like he hated the game when he actually loved it? lol

wsoutlaw873620d ago

Why would you need someone's review of what they saw on twitch? Just watch it yourself. Who would watch 200 hours of someone else playing a game?

ifistbrowni3620d ago

My thoughts exactly! Just go buy the damn game and play for yourself.

Spend 200 hours cutting neighbors lawns and you'll have enough money for a ps4 and bloodborne.

Clogmaster3620d ago

Soon we will review restaurants by watching people eat.

The future is near.

greenmiker3620d ago

I would prefer playing those 200 hours and not watching them.

Timesplitter143620d ago (Edited 3620d ago )

something I noticed recently is that many people like watching games more than they like to play them. More and more games are made with streaming in mind (especially all the "survival/crafting" games that descend from Minecraft and DayZ). Basically, some games are made as a context in which people can give a good show.

I guess some people don't think it's worth playing a game if you don't have an audience, and if they can't get an audience, they'll choose to be part of the audience.

I think this is a reality that will heavily game design in the future

ginsunuva3620d ago

That's what Twitch's business model counts on: celebrities only playing games and everyone else watching 24/7.

I can't believe people sit there for hundreds of hours watching.

Timesplitter143620d ago

Basically, games are becoming like sports. Millions of people watch them and are passionate about them, but never play them

Magicite3620d ago

lol of course, what idiot would spend so much spoiling himself or maybe he never intended to play it in first place?

spicelicka3620d ago

How in Chinese hell do you have time and patience to WATCH someone play a video game for 200 hours??

rdgneoz33620d ago (Edited 3620d ago )

8 year olds in sweat shops? Then again, these shoes are pretty nice...

As for the "review", when did it become OK to not actually play the game you're suppose to be reviewing? Next we'll have people doing movie reviews based on their friends comments after seeing a movie...

Chevalier3620d ago

There are 134 world's of hell, but, it's been simplified recently to basically 18 levels of hell. Each being a different type of torture.

wsoutlaw873620d ago

Plus, this game doesn't take that long to beat. I ran through my ng++ trophy run in 2.5 hours with a friend. He must have watched the same crap over and over.

Clown_Syndr0me3620d ago

I get bored watching someone else after 10 mins. If I reviewed games this way my reviews would be very short and probably declare every game boring and sleep-inducing!

theshredded3620d ago

Woah!this gen is pretty ret*rded, people would rather watch people play games than play themselves as proven by famous YouTubers.People would rather watch people eat,do sports...bunch of lazy lowlifes

Two-Face3620d ago

You can do both. I like to play by myself, and sometimes I like to relax and watch people on twitch. There is nothing wrong with that. Protip to you: Stop being such a hateful human being, and respect others decisions and lifestyles.

“ People will read this and assume "must be a bloodborne remake coming".

Yep, that’s me! LOL

poppatron83d ago

I disagree, within 6 months the remake will be announced, it’ll be out in 2026 or the end of this year.

oldenjon83d ago

I don't know why they'd do something 3 years after the fact unless it represented some new conflict of interest though.

That’s like saying never… come on!

CrimsonWing6998d ago

Can’t give it to Bluepoint? What are they doing exactly?

Redgrave98d ago

We just found out and the answer is nothing that you'll enjoy hearing

Npugz798d ago

Bluepoint was given a live service game that Sony just canceled so they basically wasted that time and resources. Also layoffs are coming to bluepoint so it doesn’t look good.

Eonjay98d ago

This has been stated many times. Everyone keeps blaming Sony but it is in fact up to when Miyazaki is 'Not Busy'.
