"Since I the time I got my hands on a build of this game at E3 2014, to the moment I had my hands on the full game, Splatoon was always on my mind. It was something I have wanted to see from Nintendo for a really long time: a competent, colorful, multiplayer shooter. Seems like an oddly specific thing to want, I know but the idea was spurred on by the fact that every competitive shooter started boiling down to the same thing give or take a couple titles. Now while this is my fantasy game come true, let’s actually look at the product aspect of the game, to see if it is all that I hope it to be." -Michael Jordan

Why Is Splatoon So Popular In Japan?

How, exactly, did Splatoon reach heights rivalled only by Pokémon in Japan? New IPs from the House of Mario appear as often as shiny Pocket Monsters, yet typically move comparatively mediocre numbers or fall into relative obscurity behind the premium marques of Mario, Animal Crossing, Zelda, and Pokémon. Take Pikmin and ARMS, for example, which we adore but struggle to compete with the tentpole franchises when it comes to sales numbers or mainstream mindshare.
