Sakurai talks about streamlining Brawl's development

As the old saying goes, less is better. The next Official Nintendo Magazine release (out this Friday) has an interview with Super Smash Bros. Brawl developer Masahiro Sakurai, who offered some details on how he went about designing the game. Sakurai noted that he had to cut out several concepts from the development.

For one, SSBB's current roster is just a fraction of the original character list Sakurai had in mind. Due to time constraints however, the SSBB team had to trim the fat on the game design:

i wished this game had more charcters :(

i wonder wich were cut?
i mean i can see why they took out allot of character considering that some of them did the same thing just a bit stronger or faster.

To me smash brows Melee is my all time favorite. I can't tell you how many hours I played that game between friends and family. When I was a kid, my parents couldn't afford a gaming console so I had to go somewhere that had an arcade like setup with the only difference being instead of arcade cabinets, they had big screen crt TV's and gaming consoles setup. I would go with my friends on special occasions after school or with my family on the weekends.

I would meet and make new friends at that place as we were all gamers and we also brought our game boys and would trade pokemon. I don't think those places exist these days but back then, it was easy to meet like-minded people and have fun for hours.

Well, I’ll add my extremely subjective ranking too. I won’t include the 3DS version as I don’t owned it. I did play it for a few minutes though.

5. Brawl.
4. N64 Smash
3. Ultimate
2. Wiiu Smash
1. Melee

Yup Ultimate for me BY FAR is my favorite.

There should have been at least one Mick Gordon Killer Instinct theme on here.

Rebel_Scum1101d ago

Should be some tunes from the first Mortal Kombat in any list tbh.

I really like the use of Mozart’s Dies Irae in Wolfgang Krausers stage in Fatal Fury 2.

Volcanic rim for Street Fighter 4 is probably my favorite stage theme
