CCC:
One of the most anticipated games from last year’s E3 was Evolve, the newest project by Left 4 Dead developer Turtle Rock Studios. For those of you who missed out on our E3 coverage, Evolve is an asymmetrical 4 v 1 monster hunting first person shooter. Our takeaway from E3 was that this game was great. It was fun, innovative, and interesting to play in a way that really breaks the current shooter mold. Now that it has released in full we can honestly say that it’s still great, and playing the game feels a lot like it did at E3. There’s just more of it now.
Back in 2016, Turtle Rock announced that support for its 4v1 monster-hunting shooter Evolve would end but fans wouldn't let it die.
From NME: "Evolve: Stage 2 had its multiplayer servers shut down back in 2018, but today players are once again able to matchmake and join peer-to-peer multiplayer games.
Several months ago, peer-to-peer functionality was lost for Evolve Legacy, which was the only way fans of the series could play with friends. Upon a multitude of players reaching out to publisher 2K, the issue was eventually fixed earlier in July. It seems 2K have gone a step further now, and reinstated peer-to-peer and matchmaking functionality for Evolve: Stage 2 after four years."
Evolve is an asymmetrical multiplayer experience born at the tail-end of the wrong era, in the multiplayer world.
Great idea but poorly executed and destined to fail from the begging. Only thing I’m grateful towards this game is that it’s the one that convinced me to never buy a game blind again.
Shadowrun for the Xbox 360/PC would of been a better example of a great online game that launched At the wrong time.
" It’s also worth mentioning the DLC considering it was such a scandal recently. Yes, 2K Games is charging way too much for DLC, and yes, you are probably going to want to purchase this DLC just to increase the number of options you have available. But the game is actually fun without the DLC and does stand on its own merit. Chalk this up to a bad business decision for an actually good game, and don’t let the DLC scandals turn you off."
You have said it, to increase the number of options or content, you need to buy the dlc. This is major **** up. Especially when many have been saying its light on content. I cant believe the reviewer is ok with the dlc. Since when did we hit this new low? We are talking about 120$ worth of dlc and microtransactions that should have been in the game. This is BS.
