Hardcore Gamer: One only has to take a quick look at the in-game store to see that 2K and Turtle Rock certainly wouldn’t mind having your money.

Im not suprised, since everyone else is doing the same thing

We told them what we want when we broke sales records with Destiny.

Now we just have to enjoy what we did.

TheCommentator3785d ago

I remember when you would unlock all the cool stuff in a game by "achieving" certain milestones as you played; now all I get is a bunch of useless points and a boatload of cool stuff to pay extra for. Some companies are even making it necessary to pay extra to finish the story (cough Destiny, cough Far Cry 4).

When does it end???

Bathyj3785d ago

I knew it was bad news on that very first Need for Speed game I saw that had DLC available at launch. I wondered what sort of message that sent that they had content ready to go and leave it out of the game so they could sell it to you separately.

And now here we are.

The online era of consoles is way overrated in my opinion. I'll even go so far to say its highly damaging to the industry. Everything is about content left out of games and every game needing tacked on multiplayer. I could have easily done without consoles ever going online.

The only thing I was really excited about with online consoles was being able to get more game demos without having to buy a magazine, but demos seem to be getting rarer and rarer, not more prevalent, and patching games after launch has just lead to more games being unpolished when released.

OFFLINE CONSOLE FUTURE FTW !!

magiciandude3785d ago

Online capabilities on console is nice to have, but the misfortunes that came along with it ruined a large percentage of gaming as a whole. If publishers can get away with abusing their power, they will, and right now they are. :/

Bathyj3785d ago

With great power, comes a bunch of cheap douches trying to rip you off.

CODallday3785d ago

You guys need to take off the rose tinted glasses, and realize DLC in some form has always existed in gaming, and always will.

TheCommentator3785d ago

Lol. Remember all of the great add ons that N64 and PS1 had? Oh yeah there weren't any. Heck, I can't recall XBOX or PS2 having much besides some Halo map packs. This is what happens when you grow up in the modern age.

MasterCornholio3785d ago

Yeah I remember the old days when we bought a game like Half-Life and we had those expansions packs like opposing force.

Micro transactions are just like that today.

Oh wait no they are not.

Don't. Buy. Them.

Its going to mean bad things for the companies because they've based their profit margins on more than simply selling a game, they may close their doors or the studios if not just not make a sequel, but if you want this kind of crap to stop, the audience as a whole has to be willing to bite that bullet.

TheCommentator3785d ago

It's true. If you vote with your dollars, either the companies making games will change how they make games or they will perish. Either way, we win if we stick to our guns.

Slightly off topic: I won't shop at Wal Mart or buy anything Apple since I don't agree with their business practices.

CaptainObvious8783785d ago

I haven't bought them. I haven't bought a single piece of DLC ever.

Unfortunately, there's plenty of idiots out there that couldn't care less about the industry and how their bending over for DLC can affect other gamers.

I not saying I want to take away their right to buy what they want with their own money, I just want them to use a little consideration and actually acknowledge there's other people in the world besides them.

realplayer823785d ago

Thats why I just gamefly'd this game just for trophies then sending it back.

Palitera3785d ago

Nice that you are supporting the devs, but this is still a dirty business by them.

Morgue3785d ago (Edited 3785d ago )

1. Don't buy the game.
2. Don't buy the DLC if you bought the game.
3. Make the game a download only for $29.99 then charge $19.99 for a season pass then .99 for skins or some dog that'll track monsters.

Way too promote DLC more than your product.

Come back to said game after it doesn't sell well.

Evolve or Die: The final days of the follow-up to Left 4 Dead

Back in 2016, Turtle Rock announced that support for its 4v1 monster-hunting shooter Evolve would end but fans wouldn't let it die.

‘Evolve: Stage 2’ is back from the dead as peer-to-peer servers come back online

From NME: "Evolve: Stage 2 had its multiplayer servers shut down back in 2018, but today players are once again able to matchmake and join peer-to-peer multiplayer games.

Several months ago, peer-to-peer functionality was lost for Evolve Legacy, which was the only way fans of the series could play with friends. Upon a multitude of players reaching out to publisher 2K, the issue was eventually fixed earlier in July. It seems 2K have gone a step further now, and reinstated peer-to-peer and matchmaking functionality for Evolve: Stage 2 after four years."

^^this, I have so many awesome skins on Xbox that I’d rather not lose

Germaximus1060d ago

Yes so far because it's just the servers alone coming on and the console version never had the free-to-play update.

I imagine if they find people playing the PC version and enough players are enjoying it then they'd probably reconsider opening console as well but I wouldn't count on it.

The game was epic as a monster. Hunters were really boring to play as to me.

LordoftheCritics1060d ago

I used to play this a bit.

Was kinda fun.

Great idea but poorly executed and destined to fail from the begging. Only thing I’m grateful towards this game is that it’s the one that convinced me to never buy a game blind again.

Shadowrun for the Xbox 360/PC would of been a better example of a great online game that launched At the wrong time.

Livingthedream1529d ago

Shadow Run was fantastic! Would probably do alot better now.

DaveZero1529d ago

Is this a new evolve game??
