Here's What Evolve Looks Like on PC with Max Settings On

Hardcore Gamer: Throughout our time with Evolve, we’ve been playing at 60 FPS with every setting turned up to its maximum level, and the results are pretty impressive.

"FXAA is a better anti-aliasing choice for Evolve at this point in time, being that TXAA seems to add a level of blurriness to textures, especially plant life, that high-end rig owners will probably seek to avoid. "

Really? Seriously? What a joke...

FXAA is without question the absolute WORST form of Anti Aliasing and any article that says otherwise is not worth reading.

decrypt3367d ago

Its what console developers call optimization using blur filters as AA.

sungam3d3367d ago (Edited 3367d ago )

Yeah...
I make it a point to turn off all 'blurring' effects.
Just makes the look tacky. I want my game to look crisp and clean with no jaggies.

If I wanted my game to look blurry I'd get hammered before hand.

Tzuno3367d ago

They are right, Fxaa it might not be the sweetest eye candy but it makes the game look much sharper and clearer, higher than that is Vaseline on the screen, you know little about graphics. That's the difference between paying 100$ for a gpu that can play all games even on high and a 300$ one that can play with AA maxed.

Feralkitsune3367d ago

You do know that FXAA is the one that blurs the textures, right? It's always been that way.

abstractel3367d ago

For price/performance I go FXAA any day. It comes down to personal preference and what you can afford. I was playing with settings in Unity the other day, and FXAA in that game works the best on my 2560x1600 30 inch monitor.

starchild3366d ago

FXAA blurs textures too, but isn't nearly as effective at smoothing various forms of aliasing as TXAA is.

Personally, I like an ultra clean look in my games, even if it comes at the cost of some sharpness. Usually I offset this by combining TXAA with downsampling, which counteracts some of the softening effect.

In most games TXAA is simply the best option available. Only SSAA is superior and that isn't available in every game and can impact performance to an even greater degree when using 4x SGSSAA or higher.

What you should do is just downsample.
I've been choosing that over high level AA since made available.

FXAA is terrible.
Better no AA at all, in most cases.

Feralkitsune3367d ago

at higher resolutions Aliasing becomes less of a problem anyways.

abstractel3367d ago

In my _own_ opinion, unless you can afford MSAAx4 it really isn't that big of a difference. I'd rather take all the extra everything else that I can max out. But if I can afford to downsample 4k with Nvidia's tech on the 900 series then I'll do it but I've found most modern games these days don't handle it (980GTX,i7-4790k). Much rather take the FPS. It really comes down to being extremely anal and comparing frame to frame, and if you're like that than by all means its your choice.

Nvidia has some really good blogs on specific games and how big or how little of a difference each game's graphical features make as not every game is made the same way or look best with the same settings. Sometimes high/ultra on certain features is barely noticeable.

But it does give PC owners massive forums to argue about the tiniest pixel changes. I'm a veteran developer, I do know a bit what I am talking about. There are arguments within the office about what people feel you should focus your CPU/GPU on.

Deadlead3367d ago

I'd ask when the hype train derailed for this game, but I don't even recall it leaving the station. I'm stunned that the guys who developed the immensely popular and critically acclaimed L4D series aren't receiving more attention. The games just released and it's barely a top 10 topic here on N4G.

Volkama3367d ago

I didn't know it had actually released. That's how loud the hype isn't.

starchild3366d ago

Yep, it's always drowned out by all the talk of "exclusives". It's one of the things I hate most about the gaming community.

Volkama3366d ago

I hear that. The likes of Grey Goo deserve coverage too Imo

Dhampir3367d ago

It's the DLC that derailed it.

Monsters $15
4 Hunters + 3 monster skin $25
weapon skins $2 each weapon
Monster skins $3 each
Over 50 skins total right now.

When the first thing you put out for a game is DLC plans, people get a little repulsed.

BoNeSaW233367d ago

Yes indeed. Jim Sterling said it the best.

Evolve or Die: The final days of the follow-up to Left 4 Dead

Back in 2016, Turtle Rock announced that support for its 4v1 monster-hunting shooter Evolve would end but fans wouldn't let it die.

‘Evolve: Stage 2’ is back from the dead as peer-to-peer servers come back online

From NME: "Evolve: Stage 2 had its multiplayer servers shut down back in 2018, but today players are once again able to matchmake and join peer-to-peer multiplayer games.

Several months ago, peer-to-peer functionality was lost for Evolve Legacy, which was the only way fans of the series could play with friends. Upon a multitude of players reaching out to publisher 2K, the issue was eventually fixed earlier in July. It seems 2K have gone a step further now, and reinstated peer-to-peer and matchmaking functionality for Evolve: Stage 2 after four years."

MIDGETonSTILTS17641d ago

^^this, I have so many awesome skins on Xbox that I’d rather not lose

Germaximus641d ago

Yes so far because it's just the servers alone coming on and the console version never had the free-to-play update.

I imagine if they find people playing the PC version and enough players are enjoying it then they'd probably reconsider opening console as well but I wouldn't count on it.

The game was epic as a monster. Hunters were really boring to play as to me.

LordoftheCritics641d ago

I used to play this a bit.

Was kinda fun.

Great idea but poorly executed and destined to fail from the begging. Only thing I’m grateful towards this game is that it’s the one that convinced me to never buy a game blind again.

Shadowrun for the Xbox 360/PC would of been a better example of a great online game that launched At the wrong time.

Livingthedream1110d ago

Shadow Run was fantastic! Would probably do alot better now.

DaveZero1110d ago

Is this a new evolve game??
