LJN is considered one of the worst video game companies ever, gaining infamy through the "Angry Video Game Nerd" comedy series.
However, LJN made more than just video games. Their downfall was a line of toy guns that looked realistic, which caused accidental deaths of children around the country. Many cities passed laws that required toy guns to have bright neon colors.
This video also discusses the founder of LJN, Jack Friedman, who went on to create THQ and Jakks Pacific.
Alex & Mike talk Biomutant, a game from Experiment 101/THQ Nordiq you likely have not heard of. While the AAA side of the industry tends to homogenization and imitative, cinematic presentation, “AA” games remain creative and innovative in 2021. Drawing on inspirations as varied as Dark Souls, third person shooters & kung fu cinema, Biomutant is Ratchet & Clank on acid, developed by a team of 20 people.
Back to the Future for NES isn’t a bad game. It isn’t the greatest but it certainly doesn’t deserve the criticism it gets.
Remember THQ? They published such games as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Darksiders I & II, the Destroy All Humans series, Homefront, the Red Faction series, and Saint's Row 1-3. Almost as famous as their games were the THQ marketing stunts, including a Golden Wii.
Well... if he did found THQ he can have something to be proud of by publishing the Darksiders series, too bad that didn't make it to 4 games.
Holy! These guys made complete and utter trash games back in the NES days.
It's like they bought every license TV and Movie and tried desperately to make a game out of it.
LJN and Ocean were two companies I stayed far away from.
The Karate Kid and the Surf and Turf games were probably their best games. I still own both of those. I actually played the Karate Kid game a couple years ago just to see if it still worked and it did. LJN's sports games were complete garbage however. When Acclaim took over it wasn't much different. Acclaim made a LOT of terrible games, but also a few gems. T-HQ did a lot better then both of those companies. One of my favorite companies back then was SunSoft. They made a some decent SNES games.
This guy's videos are obviously shit.
