The X1 domination continues in the US, even the big multiplatform games are selling more on x1.

Looks like price makes a big difference insoles, PS4 had a 7 month price advantage and now X1 is having 2 months.

Congrats as well for surpassing 10m WW before the end of the year, very impressive for 42 Countries. Looks like MS was right all along about the 10m.

Edit @ Jaqen, might want to check your history, US was, and still is Sony's strongest territory. Sony sold boatloads of PS1 before MS even made consoles, then they sold 3x as many PS2 as OX. Sony has sold more than 2x as many consoles in the US as MS. Wake up, the US is Sony's to loose, and that's exactly what happened last gen despite all the above advantages.

I'm not sure it's what I'd call domination. The Xbox One is doing well, it should be at the price and overall packages it offers like games and giftcards.

I would even argue it should be doing better than it is at that price and package.

Let's just pretend these numbers are real. When they were both $399 in Oct the PS4 outsold the Xbox One almost 2:1 according to NPD. The Xbox One selling 50,000 more units in December all things considered, isn't that impressive.

I agree! The Xbox1 should be doing better considering all the incentives offered. But already looking at it comparison wise, sales are already starting to level out! The PS4 although having several bundles offered didn't have nearly as many incentives, but yet it's still selling in a comparative close sales margin to the Xbox1.

Personally Microsoft has definitely had to work to get where they are sales wise, while Sony are putting forth minimal effort, and the second Microsoft eases up on there efforts it will immediately start to show in their overall sales figures. Being that the Holiday sales rush is coming to a close, that will be a true testament to if the Xbox1 has true staying power or, if this was all attributed to Microsoft offering all the incentives they have.

Either way, this is a good thing! Competition breeds excellence in what offerered and IMO that is the true incentive.

PS4 had a ton of deals as well that were just as good. Target cartwheel had the PS4 for 340 with a free game and a 20 dollar PSN store card.

Best Buy had PS4 for 350 with a game.

Walmart had PS4 for 329.

Don't kid yourself into thinking PS4 weren't heavily discounted well.

XB1 just did the right marketing and moves to become revelant again especially in the USA DESPITE Sony doing multiple bundles and price drops themselves to try to keep XB1 down.

The momentum they got with that price drop is almost completely done. It's only winning by 50k in the US (but still getting beated by a landslide worldwide by the PS4).

When holiday period ends and 2015 starts, PS4 will go back to beating the X1. Pretty sure a PS4 price cut isn't far off, once that happens, PS4 will only take a bigger lead.

Apparently you and I (and the English dictionary) have very different meanings for the word domination.

I was just talking today with my nephew. He asked me why the Xbone got so cheap when it used to be more expensive and why it had so many free games with it now.

Well Im happy with a Vita to go with my PS3 and my PS4 and not that much bothered about how it sells.
I think theres room for different handhelds and it doesnt have to be just one brand instead of a choice.
the 3DS has its fans and so does the Vita and I dont know what s your problem about sales most users actually dont care that much.

Worldwide sales mean nothing. The majority of software are sold in the UK, US, Canada, and Japan. PERIOD. Last generations software sales proved that. Sony can sell 100 million PS4's and MS can sell 80 million Xbox Ones and if MS beats them or is even 5 million off in north america or the UK that's a win.

Xbox One is selling too well for MS to ever go back to $399. If, you caught the Halo 5 beta trailer they give a pretty big hint that the price is staying....Xbox One now $349! Plus, they can afford to sell at a loss in a way Sony can't. Sony is only at $329-$350 because retailers are doing deals to move units. It has nothing to do with Sony dropping the price nor should anyone expect a price drop with the way Sony's financial reports keep looking.

Look the Xbox One is a better value than the PS4. It is a more complete entertainment device with high quality exclusives. It includes more games bundled with the console, a more robust app store, and a more reliable network. Recent multiplat games also look essentially identical to PS4 games. It's also cheaper.

Xbox One will slowly creep and eat away at that 600k lead in the USA.

Looks more to me like people saying don't get your hopes up over the temporary boost in sales due to heavy bundling and deep price cuts, as that won't be a constant over the course of the upcoming year.

That, and folks saying- if the numbers are real, and they never are- that those heavy cuts and such aren't having that big of an impact if this is all the difference they can muster.

Seriously, who thinks the current sales method for MS is sustainable? Microsoft can have all the money in the world, but they're NOT going to sink unlimited funds into the Xbox division for no returns.

XBone will never catch PS4 in worldwide sales(even if someone like me has three in their household). That's ok though. Sales are very strong and that's all I care about. It means more great games in the future. All this bickering back and forth makes no sense. People that bash the other product must not be enjoying their choice. I hope every PS4 owner is happy. I'm pretty sure it's an amazing console. Honestly, I've never liked the PS controllers. Probably the only reason why I prefer Xbox. That's just my opinion... That's it MY OPINION. Then they had free Killzone and 22 jump street then free silver headset the 349 price was just a few days ago

If dont see what microsoft already has in place for holiday 2015 you are blind. Rise of the tomb raider and halo 5 which will almost certainly get a limited edition console complete with 1 tb hard drive and custom sounds. They have the holiday locked up next year and will have a steady stream of goodies and features come to the console all year as we wait for a new forza and quantum break. The xbox will with out a doubt win the U.S. It's not even a question,it will not win worldwide but the sales are much higher in the u.s. making it all cancel out. The xbox one will be more than fine with the there straight shooting approach. Sony will be the one in for a surprise with all its smoke and mirrors kind of behavior. Bloodborn,the order and uncharted 4 wont out halo 5 in its first week combined. Bloodborn 200k the order 230k uncharted 4 310k = 740k halo 5 will do at least 1.5 million in the first week. This is a sales thread and xbox has always moved more software just based off xbox live alone.

Market share obviously is critical to console manufacturers, xb1's discounts and combined bundles are clearly monetary losses to MS, but market share in hardware trumps profit on hardware. Sony,on the other hand has the edge in hardware sales as well as not selling for a loss to compete in market share,Sony is still in a better position in this generation of hardware. I'm wondering how long MS will continue to sell there box at a loss to gain market share? The ads do still state "limited time", when they say the price point.

They wanted to sell the console for 500 and they were unable to do that in first year!!!! all the sales of the year are way, way, way off from the money that they were counting...

Kinect was the core fundation of the Xbox One!!! you couldnt sell the console without it.... That failed too..

What made Xbox unique was the integration of kinect 2.0, but now is just a weaker version of the PS4. All the months talking about DGPU, Cloud, DX12 were just PR smoke screen...

The first year you got titanfall in february and then they packed all the games in the last months to try and sell more, but for 6 months xbox gamers got zero exclusives and all 3rd party games were worst then the version of the PS4...
