Technology Tell writes, "I’ve seen some complaints around the Internet since the new teaser trailer for Street Fighter V hit. A lot of people are a little disappointed. The trailer only contains tiny snippets of game footage, showcasing the new character models and animations for series legends Ryu and Chun-Li, and a gorgeous new stage. As far as the art direction is concerned, Street Fighter V seems to be based pretty heavily on its predecessor."
Street Fighter 5 launched in 2016, and is widely considered a misstep for the hugely popular franchise. This article explains why that is.
Every Street Fighter is called a misstep of the series since Street Fighter III..and even the Alpha games were not liked by everyone.
SF V had a miserable start but later it did a lot things actually better than SFIV and SF6.
SF6 is the first SF since SFII Turbo for that I did not buy at launch. And today, around 6 months after its launch I still have no motivation to buy it.
I grew out of fighting games, loved them as a kid but online you just get your ass kicked over and over leaving just the bare bones single player and also having no friends anymore who like fighting games either just makes me not want to buy or play them anymore.
Street Fighter documentary 'Here Comes a New Challenger' is now available for all, following a successful crowd funding campaign.

Round One: FIGHT!!
It honestly reminded me of the horrible SFxTekken, with the breakable levels.
To early to really tell if this game is just an upgrade or completely new. I did like the Chun Li special that had her spinning in the air.
"Ryu and Chun-Li’s character models are less cartoony"
I disagree, I think the over-buff Ryu was very cartoony. I mean he looked like a steroid mess.
"The animations are more complicated and fluid,"
I personally did not see that from the clips shown.
"the textures look far more thick and detailed."
The backgrounds definitely looked good is the only thing I can truly agree on.
Well find out more this Saturday at Capcom cup.
The art style looks pretty similar to IV, which is disappointing.
I had that feeling when I first saw the trailer, but I'm sure it's not.
The differences between SF5 and SF4 are night and day....
SF5's art style looks nothing like SF4, the character models look more vibrant and alive and life like and definitely more detailed, the background stage has much more going on in it and the lighting is much better too.
The gameplay trailer was awesome and revealed a few things, the game will have guard crush, power up type moves, Ryu's denjin hadouken returns etc.....we'll know more next Saturday at Capcom cup as far as more features.
But to say that SF5 is just a glorified SF4 update, i don't know what people are seeing but you need to get your eyes checked.
