A little more time in the oven would've done these products some good a lot sooner.

Sega Saturn made it but not the 360. Don't remember Saturn having a horrid rrod rate. Absolutely horrid

The launch games were all right, but look at how Virtua Fighter and Daytona USA compared to their re-releases.

Spent so much time having to fix the original game they didn't make it to this.

Christopher12h ago(Edited 12h ago)

Those images are so early in design, they probably had 100s of things outlined like this for potential content. Not likely at all an expansion, just some ideas for the game in general that were never utilized. I mean, you end up in space at the end of the game as it is, they likely thought at some point to include more and didn't.

Amplitude9h ago

Meh. Mad respect to them for not only fixing it, but also making possibly the best looking path-traced PC game still to this day.

I bought it day 1 and didn't even finish it cause it just wasn't for me - but whenever i get a 40 (or 50) series GPU i'll be heading back in. I aint even attempting the path tracing with my 2080 Super lol

just_looken9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

Thanks to all those patches the og version is a destant memory.

For those that remember version 1.0 or the ps4 day one disc versions there was alot of stuff already in the game half done like a entire map built can be accessed on pc but 0 things to do 0 npc 0 traffic even that mission area floating in the sky.

Heck i am sure some on here remember seeing the square pink blocks with "missing texture" text the floating/moving subway car going through buildings and the trash year one police/npc ai.

The game was alpha borderline beta day one now its version 1.0 still not what we were promised but you can play it now.

So missing dlc is/was the least of its issues heck i have a first version of the strategy guide with sections of missing items even entire stores not in the ingame.

Old video showing what i mean you can see up to the last minute were cutting/pasting stuff to make it turn on.

Just makes you wonder what it must have been like at one time before legal came in to remove any references that would end in a lawsuit then the celeb keno tie in that no doubt is the reason we get that bs cutscene that rushes through the first part of the game. Such a piss poor managed title with way to much crunch with a company that now worships esg culture so dam sad.

Armyofdarkness17h ago

Phantom Liberty is very very good. I want more DLC but sequel is also all right

just_looken9h ago

If you like that dlc you should binge the old ghost int he shell anime they just stole ideas from there for that dlc.
https://www.youtube.com/wat...

For future dlc it will be trash as they are full into esg now if you got a rack they will hire you does not matter if you know anything about games or using unreal engine 5 tools they need that clipboard check mark more than customer respect. Oh of course they also want dei crap like the new star wars or wb games stuff

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Inverno11h ago

God that anime was the best thing the year it came out. The feeeeels maan.

Profchaos4h ago

Have to remember they did want to have a online mode attached to this game which would be similar to a GTA online mode making the game akin to a live service and extending the games supported development time significantly.

Losing that online mode likely shorteners the developer cycle of the game dramatically which is why we only got one DLC.

Also given the game took years to get to a good state it's way behind schedule.

Assume the corporate wars will be turned into cyberpunk 2 rather than a DLC at this point because they do need to move onto the next full priced game in the franchise for both cyberpunk and witcher

LLumarvietnam26m ago

It's fascinating to see what could have been with the 'The Moon' expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. It’s unfortunate that it was canceled, but the details and screenshots show a lot of potential. Hopefully, CD Projekt can explore these ideas in future projects!

EA Hiring Ex-Military Personnel to Help Build Next Battlefield Game via "Hiring Our Heroes" Program

EA has hired ex-military personnel in order to help shape the next Battlefield game as part of the Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) program.

OtterX1d 22h ago (Edited 1d 22h ago )

Why don't you Hire Your Old Dev Team who brought us the brilliance of Battlefield Bad Company 2 while you're at it. It was more exciting than anything recent in the Battlefield series. It just needs to be updated to reach modern times, but it was so great at its core.

just_looken1d 19h ago

This would be nice but that team has tossed out the finals and has arc raiders on the back burner
https://www.pcgamer.com/ex-...

20 thousand still play the final's
https://steamcharts.com/app...

Why get slapped around by ea when you already have something going on.

What the next battlefield needs is a step back simple functional not a live service and smaller player servers than 2042. Just make it like battlefiled 3 with bad company destruction just something simple

But they already killed off ridgeline games that had ex halo/cod devs so no singleplayer unless they make another dev team for it.

It's what made zipper and slant six awesome. They had military vets working for them, no just as consultants, but as developers as well. I wish Sony never closed them, MAG 2 or an update to MAG and a new socom is much needed.

just_looken1d 9h ago

Older ps3 battlefield titles did the same even went to the range to get sound files.

But all these titles we are talking about were on the ps3 a console so powerful it offered free mp and games did not need 4 levels of payment plans even more crazy was the player size of mag's games.

TheColbertinator1d 4h ago

A return to the golden age of Battlefield seems so far away now

Str8Chaos741d 4h ago

Sadly I think you are correct. They just don’t get it. They will do their live service game with its Battle Royale and fail at both.I hate being so negative, but I have little faith in EA at this point.

Valve facing £656,000,000 lawsuit over claims Steam is ripping off players

The owner of Steam has been accused of overcharging 14 million PC gamers in the UK and 'shutting out' competition in a new lawsuit.

Dan501d 20h ago

Overcharging? Have these people never heard of sales?

just_looken1d 19h ago (Edited 1d 19h ago )

"Valve, the owner of Steam, is being sued for £656m over claims it is abusing its dominant market position to overcharge players.

The collective action claim has been filed with the UK’s Competition Appeal Tribunal by digital rights campaigner Vicki Shotbolt.

In the lawsuit, Shotbolt accuses Valve of ‘shutting out’ competition when it comes to buying PC games and DLC, which has led to 14m people in the UK being overcharged for PC games as a result.

The claim is seeking up to £44 compensation for every UK player who has bought a PC game or add-on content from June 5, 2018."

So they are trying to take the apple/sony/xbox approach were there is only one store without ever using a pc for gaming.

Anyone with a ounce of pc gaming knowledge knows steam did nothing when competition and the launcher war happened but now every publisher that had there own launcher with games only available on that platform are slowing coming back to steam.

This "lawsuit" should be directed to launcher's like rockstar's as they have games only available on there like the gta collection or ubisoft with xdefiant heck epic launcher exclusive games. There is no grounds in which steam has locked down content to there platform except there own games though there are disc versions of those except half life alex.

Pc players still have the best choice on game buying with multiple launcher's and site that offers keys like my fav humble bundle but on the same platform we have the worst drm along with those 3rd part launcher's that need to run in the background.

anast1d 19h ago

How about suing them for the game files that the customer should own?

Michiel198922h ago

yes, let's give storefronts the power to decide over properties they don't own, sounds awesome

anast21h ago

I don't understand. Your comment isn't clear.

Michiel198915h ago

I was being sarcastic, 99.9% of games sold on there are not from valve so there's not much they can do about it.
