Random article that seems to be a year old? Or am I missing something?

I agree, this article seems out of context now, With dragon age just launching, to a seemly stable and bug free engine in use, i can't see what this article is trying to get at thats relevent

Time for EA to pony up the cash and develop a better engine. Nothing but problems with Frostbite 3. Sure it looks great but the multiplayer stability and the destruction are sub par. Focus should be on physics, environmental destruction and most important, multiplayer stability. EA should take a good hard look at Crytek when it comes to putting graphics over everything else.

They already have another engine Ignite.

But please mention one other engine that
- looks great

in several game modes
- single player (rendering cut scenes in real time;
in BF4 you control the camera,
in DAI you see your crafted character)
- time pause (DAI)
- multi player
- split screen (PvZ GW)
- co-op
- first person (BF4)
- second person (DAI)
- third person (PvZ GW, DAI)
- spectator with multiple cameras (BF4)

does physical
- destruction (simplified but still)
- water simulation in multi player
- weather effects

Implementation
- deeply threaded (uses all CPUs)
- uses close to hardware API (Mantle) on PC
- compatible with current generation consoles (PS4, XBox One)
- compatible with previous generation consoles (PS3, XBox 360)
- soon compatible with handhelds (iOS)
- effective work to port, see iOS (no artists involved, testing needed of cause) https://twitter.com/repi/st...

I have probably forgot some bullets...

Perfect match for PGA Golf

Maybe it is not so surprising that EA considers moving even sports games to Frostbite...

The engine is not the biggest issue. It's the people who buy it anyway.

Also crysis is not a bad game at all imo..

People just hop on the band wagon.

Wish more fps games would let u customize ur gun while playing.

It's not people hopping on the band wagon. The problem is these AAA Publishers are spending millions & millions of dollars to over hype their products. Then when they do release them they're full of bugs & problems. Since the only thing the publishers care about is hitting that target market date & only delay if they absolutely have to.

Single player is great in Dragon age. However, the game looks totally different once you start playing multiplayer. It's almost like they're two totally different code bases. All & all I'm very happy with Dragon Age... It's a hell of a lot better than other 2014 disappointments & over hypes.

Dragon Age is fine and feels like Dragon Age despite the new engine. No problems here with it.

Dragon Age: Inquisition Retro Review – A Nostalgic Leap Short Of Legendary

Dragon Age: Inquisition, developed by BioWare, is the third installment in the cherished Dragon Age series. It represents a major evolution from its predecessor, Dragon Age II, incorporating elements that were well-loved in the original Dragon Age: Origins but also introducing new features that stand on their own. While Inquisition improves upon Dragon Age II in many respects, it falls short of the exceptional standards set by Origins.

The quality of these free games has been awesome. Before anyone says they are not free I was already giving Amazon $6 a month for prime shipping and video this isn't why I pay for my subscription

Teflon021324d ago

Still technically paying for it, even if it wasn't your intent. They've been giving out games with Twitch prime, they just changed the name. It's the same sub as that was. If you weren't aware, great. But you're paying for it.

That being said, I don't personally care. For me as long as you're willing to pay that for 1 service and get more. I personally take it as free. Like prime video, music though the prime version is trash, and all the Twitch benefits are all free to me because I didn't care about those when I got it. Just comes with it.

Only noted because that's technically wrong as a defense to that argument, whether I'm on yourside with the initial statement lol

mkis0071324d ago

It's free to anyone who has already been paying. IDK why people need to split hairs.

How does Prime Gaming work? Do you keep the games, or is it only as long as you have Prime?

Germaximus1324d ago

lol Nice distraction from how they're now charging people to increase viewership. It's "just an option." /wink lol

gonna assume this is pc only?
