Titanfall Has Had "7 Million Unique Users"

The best-selling new IP on Xbox One has had a lot of players, even if that doesn't completely tell the whole sales story.

Bring Titanfall to PS4 and I 100% guarantee Respawn that these shady reports will turn into proud, as clear as day headlines without no shame at all. Sledge Hammer games are right on your tail with Advance Warfare 2 which I know will have a more exosuit mecha action next time.

As a huge mecha lover, Titanfall on PS4 will be a Day One Get for me.
We need more mecha games of this caliber!

the game was not pirated on pc, it's an online only game.

7 million is pretty good for a new ip.

killzone shadowfall announced 3 million unique players. granted its only one system but its also on the more popular ps4 with a well established franchise. not sure how many more millions would buy titanfall on the ps4. one thing you have to give microsoft credit for is they can and will promote heavily some games which sony has been criticized for especially during the ps3 era.

By Titanfall coming to PS4 I am talking about Titanfall 2 the sequel and not this launch exclusive Titanfall. As I hope Titanfall 2 will be a much better game.

I bought it on sale on Origin a couple months ago. Played it for a day. Deleted all 50gigs of it. The game was so boring.

It is bad when I would rather be playing CoD. And that is exactly how I felt playing this game.

The only thing is it sold more on xbox one, then P.C. & 360 combined when it hit 3million in sales & that was in the summer. With 2 million of that on xbox one, its probably at 3 million sales or more now.

Unfortunately like the guy said on gaf, its Published by EA so he can't give numbers but it sold way beyond respawns expectations.

Killzone sold two million too(around launch) and probably is over 3 million right now too and that was around where it had to compete with BF4 and Ghost soooooooooooooooo your point has yet to be made and TF had nothing to compete with and and it was hyped as the best thing to ever come out with a huge marketing campaign :/ and multiple PC deals for the game by EA so keep acting like this was a level playing field.

Titanfall is so far my game of the year!

I sunk in more hours into that game than any other this year, and still crave it. It is that good, so I completely understand if you want it on PS4.

Every PS fan hates Titanfall for the sole reason that it's only on Xbox. Had it come out on PS4, no one would care about the bots or the MP only. It's hypocrisy at it's finest, but that's sony fanboys for you.

Titanfall is my game of the year. Still amazing. Most fun I had with any game in 2014. The scale of it now is way bigger than it was when it lacked content at launch.

And the game is on half of the available platforms and has had 7 million players. Seems high to me, considering its main platform only had 3-4 million units sold at the time the game launched.

Its not my game of the year Horizon 2 gets that for me but I agree titanfall is a fun MP game and keeps me going back to it when I want a change from racing on horizon 2. Only issue I see is once the MCC MP is fixed its going to be hard for me to pick between the two.

It's so bizarre the hatred for this game. Is it spite? The game was great. It was tremendously fun. It's one of the best reviewed games of the year. Higher than Destiny, Watch Dogs, and many others. Is it crapped on simply cause it's not on PS4 or what? I know a lot of games get trashed, but Titanfall seems to still bring the rage even 8 months later, like people are still trying to convince themselves and others it wasn't good.

The keyword here is "had." After I noticed the game was just about repetitive grinding of bounties, or PvP which I hate, I just quit. Mostly thanks to the lack of matchmaking for stories, events and raids. I guess a lot of people did the same.

You really can only get into 1 gameplay type. Unless you want to brave the shoddy connection that is likely trying to embark on a gametype with only 50 people in it. That and it being the same people, so if one side is ruling the roost, and you're not on it, you are basically screwed and can't find another match.

Disclosure: I played the Titanfall Beta and got it day one on PC. I love it and have returned to playing it several times since March.

I do, however think that it was, despite its great design ideas, partially a failure. I played it again last night and every single one of the DLC map playlists had 0 worldwide players. The most played list was Attrition with just over 700 worldwide players. This game is great and I'm looking forward to the sequel, but I believe that too much went into pushing this game's release date and exclusivity status to make a brand new IP with new game mechanics have the longevity it needs. 7 million users may or may not include all three platforms (of which there may be some overlap), multiple users on the same console, console game trade-in/resells, and possibly even Beta players.

From the dev interviews I saw, they said spent less than 2 years on this game, and it kind of shows. It's using the archaic Source engine that neither runs optimized for the scale of combat the game involves nor shines all that bright, On monster PCs and even the exclusive consoles it was released on, it struggles to hold up 60fps. It has a pretty minimal amount of gear and customization. Complexity isn't always better, but it seems to me that they had to conserve development resources and clearly gear quantity and customization was one of the major casualties. No campaign, and no single player/co-op to speak of, up until the recent "horde mode" patch just released. A fun diversion, but people do still buy shooters to play the campaign. Animation jankiness and camera jumpiness could be improved too, no matter what your framerate is, it still looks like you're losing frames when in a titan, breaking the immersion somewhat.

All in all, I still love and play the game, but its shortcomings do point to a downsized and low-budget game, despite the hype and marketing train behind it. Let's hope they see fit to do a full multiplat current-gen and PC release with more time to fill out its content.

This won't be a COD-killer, but it should be a healthy alternative to the monster that the dominant annual shooter franchise can be.

TL;DR: Played it, loved it, but Titanfall was incomplete. There were less than 2,000 players worldwide on PC last night.

Does that include other people signed into a friends console?

Also...

How many of that 7 million was in the last month? Last 3 months?

Also, broken down by platform, and a percentage of total unique visitors both lifetime and last month. (i.e. PC sold 1 million, has had 1.2 unique users, 150k played last three months, 50k played in last month).

Oh the 'unique users' in that description would make more sense with a console, due to friends being able to sign in, but it also could apply to Titanfall PC due them having free weekend/Gametime promotions.

The PC playerbase is sparse as all hell. Booted it up for the first time since May about a month ago and there's really only one mode worth playing. The rest have 0-50 people in them.

EA said they are exceeding their financial expectation and TF is one of the games listed that is leading the way.

TF is also the highest scoring fps, next to TMCC.

Put into perspective, Sony said KZ had 3m individual users, so considering the difference in install base, that's some impressive.
