canadianonlinegamers:

A Titanfall Deluxe Edition... never saw that coming! Ok, we all did but nonetheless it's available now on Origin for PC and next week for Xbox One. The Titanfall Deluxe Edition compiles all of the game's post release content into one tight little package.

But i was lead to believe that re-releases of recent games suck (or were pointless cash grabs), …Right?

KarmaV123870d ago

No just giving new players a chance to get all of the content at a discounted price

darthv723870d ago

you are confusing a re-release with a remaster. Re-releases are generally done after several months and incorporate the extra content that is made available after the initial release on the same platform. Think the GOTY edition for games like uncharted 2 or LBP2.

A remaster is exactly that. Taking an older game released for a previous platform and giving it a fresh coat of paint and fixing any issues while at the same time adding in any bonus content that was released previously.

uptownsoul3870d ago (Edited 3870d ago )

@darthv72

So explain the hate TLOU:R got, and why this doesn't come with the same amount of hate, from the same people?

Not to mention Tomb Raider did the exact same thing as TLOU (2013 release on PS3/360…2014 "remaster" on PS4/XB1). But Tomb Raider didn't get nearly the hate TLOU got…And then after The Rise of the Tomb Raider was announced at GamesCom the Tomb Raider "remaster" got ZERO hate. Why was that?

darthv723870d ago

okay, I will try but I'm not sure if the reasons are the same for everyone who 'hated' on those games.

TLOU is a great release on the PS3, probably one of the best the system offered. when it was released in a remastered form...people hated on it because it really wasnt something that warranted a remaster. Granted they improved the clarity and frame rate but the game is still the same game from the previous system and had only been out for a very short amount of time.

This game is the same game but released for the same platform with all the extras that have been released since. As i said, it is more of a GOTY edition and is not something that people would really go out of their way to buy a new system to get.

those who have this game and the platform are just as capable of getting the extra content at their own discretion. those who dont have this game but have the platform now have the option of buying the full release instead of getting the initial release which lacks the extra content.

I dont know about tomb raider, I dont follow that game.

It actually pains me to admit that I have never played TLOU. I want to and will likely get it on the PS3 as I dont have a PS4. Will I be missing out on the touched up frame rate and clarity? Sure but the gameplay is what I want and its the same game and wont cost me $400 to get it. More like $40 and I will be just as pleased with the experience.

Awesome

And now that most of the FPS have releases we see that TF has the highest metacritic score of them all. Next to TMCC of course.

Congrats Respawn

hiredhelp3870d ago

Re release lol listen stop scrapping its basicly got all the DLC with it at cut down price. For thoe who like to wait for these there great buy as saves money.
Sadly for some like me i cant wait too long great game btw but make up your own minds play it.

ShowanW3870d ago

People can hate all they want..

This is still one of the best shooters of 2014...
One of the best shooters that have come out in a while...

Respawn did a mighty fine job too... Considering they're development team is/was small compared to others...

uptownsoul3870d ago

Say hello to The Last of US: Remastered

One of the best action/adventure games of 2013...
One of the best action/adventure games that has come out in a while…

But there was NOTHING but hate for TLOU:R

PONTIAC08G8GT3870d ago (Edited 3870d ago )

Thats because the last of us was a remastered game from the PS3 with pretty graphics. Titanfall was a brand new game and this edition just includes all the DLC, much like MANY games do. Forza and Ryse also have editions like these.

The PS love is strong in you.

uptownsoul3870d ago (Edited 3870d ago )

@PONTIAC08G8GT

TLOU:R makes more sense because at the time there considerable numbers of 360 owners (who never owned a PS3) that own PS4s

I agree that MANY games re-release a "Deluxe Edition" with all DLC included…BUT within 8-9 months?!?!? Really?

@ShowanW

I'm not comparing the TLOU to Titanfall as a "shooter" (I clearly said TLOU was an action/adventure)…I'm comparing the Love -- or, more importantly, HATE a re-released Playstation game got to the LOVE a re-released Xbox game is getting (even though the PS re-released happened a year later, while the Xbox re-release is 8-9 months later)…Thats the comparison I'm making

ShowanW3870d ago

WHAT???

TLoU isn't a "Shooter"...

go stand in the corner...

d4v03333870d ago

@PONTIAC

Same thing goes for TLOU:Remastered. Just because it was a PS3 game that does not mean it should get the hate. TLOU:Remastered got graphics upgrade, DLCs that were released previously were included in the game, photo mode was added, it took advantage of the dualshock 4's touchpad, new difficulty was added and can be played via remote play. So basically TLOU:Remastered is the better choice if you compare it to Titanfall or games that get released with just the DLCs.

On topic:

I really liked Titanfall as I own it on PC but sadly the community died after like 3 months and I stopped playing it. Whoever owns it on Xbox One did the same happen on Xbox One or it is still going strong?

GodGinrai3870d ago (Edited 3870d ago )

@uptownsoul

How did you even manage to worm TLOU into a thread that clearly has nothing to do with that game...and nobody even mentioned it in relation to titanfall?

Your comment comes across as insecure.

@d4v0333

"it took advantage of the dualshock 4's touchpad, new difficulty was added and can be played via remote play. So basically TLOU:Remastered is the better choice if you compare it to Titanfall or games that get released with just the DLCs. "

That makes NO sense. You basically claim TLOU to be a "better choice" because its a PS4 exclusive that takes advantage of the DS4 touchpad? That means VERY little to any potential xbox owner. Of course TF does not use a DS4..it doesnt even run on PS4.

and to be fair TLOUs, multiplayer is not a patch on titanfall. The game has legs, and can be played for months on end. TLOU is good for a story mode run through, but little else. I have no desire to complete it two or three times. TLOU has the better single player (not given that titanfall is , only) TF is a better MP experience. No ifs or buts about that.

"Whoever owns it on Xbox One did the same happen on Xbox One or it is still going strong?"

Xbox one owner and titanfall player here. Never had problems finding a match.

uptownsoul3870d ago (Edited 3870d ago )

@GodGinrai

Didn't TLOU:R get a TON of hate for being a "cash grab"??? All because it came out 12 months later on a newer platform (w/ALL the DLC)…Now all of a sudden Titanfall comes back out 8 months later…Where's the "cash grab" & "pointless to buy" & my favorite, "It came out a year ago" comments?

And when has it been labeled as "insecure" to point out hypocritical situations?

PONTIAC08G8GT3870d ago (Edited 3870d ago )

PS fanboys, stop defending TLOU remastered and trying to compare it to TItanfall or any re-released title. Borderlands 1 and 2 BOTH had re-released on the same exact system which included all the DLC. Forza has been doing it for years also. Each system does it, Sony and MS. GTA V is remastered. TLOU is remastered. Halo Collectors Edition is remastered. Tomb Raider is remastered. If it was playable on a LAST GEN system and has now be released on NEXT GEN system, then it's remastered. GTA did the best job by adding a first player view, vehicles, weapons, and couple other things.

There is no common ground between TF and TLOU. One game was released on the last gen systems and one was released for next gen (yes, I know it's on PC and 360). If Titanfall came out on just the 360, and now was coming out on the X1, it would be remastered.

Yes because being let down and criticizing it is now "hate".

They bigged this up and gave off the impression that this would be the next game which would revolutionize the FPS genre yet it fell flat on it's face.

Why would anyone pay full price for just an online game, I don't like COD but at least you get a single player aswell. Not the best but it's something.

ShowanW3870d ago

I can tell from these comments you havent played it yourself...

This game is amazing.. And not only has Respawn done an amazing job with paid DLC... They've done an even better job with free DLC...

You comments tell me that your just a wagon hopper...

Titanfall is NOT a flop by any means...

Funny thing is, people give Destiny all this praise, and can someone tell me the point of that game?...

Empty beauty, in which you still don't fully know whats going on...

But since destiny is multi plat it's ok...

Gazondaily3870d ago

Lol so you get a single player with cod. Thats great. Now let's talk about that multiplayer.

Titanfall didn't fall.flat on it's face, as much as a certain fanbase would love others to believe so. It did what it set out to do and that's add depth to the standard fps formula.

And there's proper critique and then there's hate and you sound like a hater (no surprise there).

gangsta_red3870d ago (Edited 3870d ago )

"They bigged this up and gave off the impression that this would be the next game which would revolutionize the FPS genre yet it fell flat on it's face."

You know who bigged this up? Players, journalists and actual reviewers who played the game UNLIKE you. No one gave off any impression that this would revolutionize FPS, that would be you trying desperately hard to downplay the game. What we did see was people who ACTUALLY played the game and loved what they played.

Funny how you keep saying people overhyped Titanfall, but you yourself hyped up Destiny and PROMOTED that game, and claimed that game was going to revolutionize FPS games and change the genre.

You went up and down N4G's hallways shouting Destiny is the best game. Even though it's always online and multiplayer focused and more importantly you never even played the game before. And we both know how Destiny ended up in your opinion right Fox? I mean you wrote a whole blog about what a let down that game was.

I don't understand how you can fall for one hype that told you nothing but PR talk, but then claim you are not falling for another even though they showed you gameplay, had actual players testimony of how fun the game was.

"Yes because being let down and criticizing it is now "hate"."

Before you go crying I'm OFF TOPIC and get me dinged again. I'm not, you are "hating", you are criticizing and claiming you were let down by a game YOU NEVER PLAYED.

You are putting one set of high standards for this particular game but you were more than happy to look the other way for Destiny.

That is basically hating, i.e. high level trolling.

jackanderson19853870d ago

didn't one of the COD devs come out and say that the SP portion is barely played by the vast majority of their users?

people dont get games like COD and Battlefield for the SP.... Respawn realised this and released a MP game only.

PONTIAC08G8GT3870d ago

Why would anyone pay full price for remastered TLOU? Or Halo Collectors Edition? Or Tomb Raider? People buy what they buy cause they like it and want it. Sorry but the majority of people buy COD because of the multiplayer, not the single player. So why give a crappy single player when you can focus your efforts to make the MP great?

d4v03333870d ago (Edited 3870d ago )

@GodGinrai

So basically from my whole comment you only took the dualshock 4 touchpad and say that it makes no sense? you should read the whole comment carefully before you state something because i obviously did not say that it is a better choice because of dualshock 4 touchpad. I listed all the features that were added to the game and not just one and i definitely did not say it is a better choice because it is a PS4 exclusive. Also i am not just comparing to Titanfall and I am very well aware that TF is not available on PS4 but thanks for answering to my question for Titanfall MP. I wish it didn't die that quick on PC. And I do agree MP wise TF is a better experience.

GodGinrai3870d ago

"Also i am not just comparing to Titanfall"

Really? lets look at that key sentence YOU wrote, again..

"So basically TLOU:Remastered is the better choice if you compare it to Titanfall"

But again....I am not sure why TLOU is even being mentioned in this thread at all. apples and oranges.

I mean no offence. Simply felt the need to derail that discussion before it turns into WW3 around here.

d4v03333870d ago

Reason i was comparing because people brought it up and i stated Titanfall or OTHER GAMES not just Titanfall :)

SideNote3870d ago

I love this game. Even though I have the MCC, I'm still playing this game after launch day.

Volkama3870d ago

Still keep meaning to try the co-op horde mode, and also a custom game with the AI tuned right up. Just to test out the AI.

It's a good game that deserves a bit more of a play if I get the chance.

MSBAUSTX3870d ago

I didn't even know there was a Co Op mode. It took me a while to get good at this game and would get frustrated sometimes. I also didn't like that you couldn't play with just AIs. Is the Co Op any good?

Volkama3870d ago

No idea, I haven't tried it :)

It's a 4 player vs waves of AI thing, something about objectives or control points maybe? Hopefully someone will be able to answer better.

lemoncake3870d ago (Edited 3870d ago )

It's called frontier defence and was released not too long ago and yes it is good, very good actually.

You get waves of enemies and you have to stop them destroying your fuel harvester, you get to put down turrets between waves also so there's a lot of stuff going on at any given time.

ShowanW3870d ago

4 player co-op is amazing..

And the AI is relentless in this mode..

They allow you a turret drop per wave and such..
place it wisely and you have it for a wave or 2...

Do you hop in your Titan to fight, or do you leave it to guard the Harvester?

Go try it out, you will love it...

Best part, the Co=op mode is FREE...

MSBAUSTX3870d ago

I need to dust it off and try it out. I got tired of Titanfall after two weeks of playing it constantly because it was the same thing over and over. That is why Single player or new modes are nice. This Co Op mode sounds like a lot of fun. I am also curious about the private match making I read about. Can I make a private match against bots only or play by myself against bots for fun without getting completely owned all the time by jerks? Or can myself and a buddy team up online and spam kill bots?

Puty3870d ago (Edited 3870d ago )

Oh, so now we can finally buy a complete game. You know, not in pieces.

PONTIAC08G8GT3870d ago

I bought the complete game Day 1. And then they released DLC and patches along the way. You know, just like every game.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy
