Be Advised: it's time you gave Titanfall another chance

Dealspwn writes: "Titanfall is one of the best games of 2014.

No ifs or buts. On a purely objective and mechanical level, Titanfall's gameplay is impeccable, blowing the multiplayer shooter genre wide open with mobility, verticality, parkour, massive stompy robots and some of the best maps of the decade. It certainly isn't the first FPS to feature mechs and jet packs, but no game has ever managed to make these features so fluid and accessible, allowing anyone to get involved while providing veterans with a near-infinite skill ceiling as their abilities improve. As such, I've returned to it on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis simply because it's that good.

Unfortunately, however, I lied. There was an "if" and a "but," and it's a doozy, because there's no denying that Titanfall was also wicked skinny for a full-priced game."

Yeah, played it a couple of days ago and am loving it!

I especially like being able to trade in cards on the blackmarket to get enough points to counterfit certifications that I don't want to complete in order to regen.

That and the new hoard mode where you play with 3 other players is really quite challenging.

With all of the changes that Respawn have made to TitanFall, I plan on playing this until Halo Master Chief Collection comes out.

Gen 10 here I come-- woohoo!

Blues Cowboy3896d ago (Edited 3896d ago )

Oh nice - I'm still on Gen 8, but don't want to buy my way out of my last challenge yet. Going to buy the SID voice pack - it's literally CABAL from Tiberian Sun!

But yes, Titanfall is still absolute quality - and the quantity is sorted now too.

EDIT: Yeah, and Horde mode is awesome. Worth getting some mates with headsets on board - communicating really helps with the later waves of Nuke and Mortar Titans!

I have been at Gen 3 for a long ass time as I don't bother regen, but man I have been oplaying this game non-stop since launch.

This game might be game of the year for me, if it wasn't for two other amazing games, Sunset Overdrive and Halo:MCC.

There is soo much goodness on the Xbox One that my other consoles are just sitting there collecting dust. Maybe I should trade the in for another Xbox One.

The new horde mode is awesome, but I wish more people would use the freaken mic. Communication is key here!

I'm definitely going to pick it up if there's an Origin sale. I enjoyed it a bit when it came out, but I'm not a competitive person. This new co-op mode has me excited again. Can't wait to try it!

Software_Lover3896d ago

Yeah, I've stated many times I'm not into multiplayer like that. I have my times, but that is far and few in between. I might give it a try when it's dirt cheap otherwise it would be a waste of my money.

I know I've harped on these things before, but they need to make a Mass Effect trilogy with all DLC definitive edition so I can play it again right before Mass Effect 4. Single player goodness.

I just hope they turn Mass Effect 4 into the RPG it should be.

Just get an origin key from G2A. PC gamers need not wait for good prices :-)

famoussasjohn3896d ago

Origin just set me a sale for $19.99, or $14.99 after buying BF4. Not sure what G2a is offering.

TekoIie3896d ago

Its currently on sale for half price. So if you feel that's a good price to drop on it the now is a good time to buy it.

DJustinUNCHAIND3896d ago

It doesn't need another chance. It already Stole my heart.

Frontier Defense is so fun.

Blues Cowboy3896d ago (Edited 3896d ago )

Yup, same here. I've been playing it on a weekly basis since launch - it's my 'go to' game on XBL. To be honest, I've never been bothered about progression systems all that much as someone who grew up on Doom, Quake, UT99 etc - it's all about the gameplay for me.

And Titanfall smashes it on that front - plus now there's lots of extra meta content to enjoy as well. Still, I know lots of people who left and never came back - hopefully they'll do so now, if only to try out the new horde mode.

espawn has done an excellent job making sure that Titanfall stays updated, working and fresh with maps, modes and other features. Good job guys, the game is still as fun now as it was when I first picked I up.

I hope part 2 will be even better!

Cobberwebb3896d ago

The season pass on X1 is now only £6.60, so we picked it up today because we love the new co-op mode so much. But I think it's too late, when we left the game the global count was only at around 1500. It will probably pick up when the US guys hit the evening, but not a great amount.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1023d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1023d ago (Edited 1023d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
