Samantha Leichtamer (Games.com): It's no secret that Final Fantasy games (and JRPGs in general) typically have complicated and sometimes non-sensical plots-- sometimes so complicated that you as the player are forced to explain the story to yourself. Because of this many theories are coined and some of them are more convincing than others. Today we're talking about possibly the most convincing of all-- Squall is Dead.
Gary Green said: Tempting as it is to dedicate our first installment of PlayStation Icons to a franchise-leader like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, or even Sackboy, instead I’m choosing a character that I, like so many others, connected with on a personal level. He’s a moody, world-weary teen, a proud loner with no time for the drama of others, and yet he’s also a hero just waiting for the motivation to unleash his full potential. He’s a warrior. He’s a leader. He’s the king of internal monologues. It’s time to meet Squall Leonhart.
With hundreds of games, some of which are considered to be classics that hold up to this day, you’ve got the pick of the litter when it comes to choosing a potential remake
^This. THIS!
Stop remaking PS4 games!
Remake PS1 and PS2 games à la FF7R, RE1, Mafia, Half Life style ....
Make Legend of Dragoon, Legacy of Kain etc Remakes happen
and Valkyrie Profile Lenneth. They did Star Ocean 1 & 2 R already, VPL should get the same treatment.
I'd be down for FF8, and Xenogears. But I would also be down for Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. And I wish Namco would get off their ass and remake or remaster the Xenosaga trilogy.

Final Fantasy has a long running history with numerous numbered titles and spin-offs, but which games stand to benefit from a remake?
I'd rather the 13 trilogy just be ported tbh. No matter what you think if it, it shouldn't be the only numbered offline games not playable on new consoles. But naturally I'd play the **** out of 8-12 remakes.
Long live Cloud! Down with Squall!
Go cloud
VIII story was brilliant and if this is the truth than that would be epic as well.
Ugh. Not this again. This along with the "Rinoa is Ultimecia" fallacious theories just never die. Squall is not dead, the story makes perfect sense.
First, the Ice Shard didn't hit Squall anywhere that would kill him. You can clearly see that he was hit in the right pectoral region, not in the heart or any other major organ.
Second, just because he wakes up chained to the torture device that Seifer has him on, doesn't mean he "woke up without a scratch."
Third, you don't know exactly how much time has passed between when Squall was struck and they actually show them in prison.
Fourth, heal magic. Seifer wanted to torture Squall and get information out of him, that means he couldn't let Squall die before that.
And let's not even get into the fact that a "life flashing before ones eyes" wouldn't allow Squall to the see experiences of other people independent of himself. This theory expects us to believe that Squall's "dream" invented the independent actions of everyone else, including when Zell, Selphie, and Quistis busted out of their cell to find and rescue Squall, and Rinoa and Irvine returning, which is something Squall was completely clueless about.
The theory is ridiculous, created by people who have absolutely no grasp on the true depth of Final Fantasy VIII's story and so fabricate something more believable for themselves.
