Shinji Mikami praises PS4, says it lets him 'create something more realistic'

PSU writes:

"Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami has said that the PlayStation 4 has allowed him to create a more realistic horror-based video game in The Evil Within."

No offence but from what I've seen, despite looking like a great horror game, there seems to be a lack of realistic emotions/expressions from our main hero...especially when he's facing super natural things. That kind of dumbs down the horror experience in my opinion, if the main hero doesn't get scared, how are you supposed to.

woow just woow you notice the dumbed down emotion expression when in the most of modern games are the Gameplay which is Dumbed Down

i hope the evil within isn't dumbed down in term of GAMEPLAY.

gamers care more about gameplay than graphic emotion and other crap that doesn't have nothing to do with gaming/gameplay

deno3556d ago

Because in Shinji Mikami horror games it's not the game character who is supposed to experience emotions but the videogamer. Go play Resident Evil remake, zero, code veronice, Resident Evil 2.

I'm not talking about full on emotions and expressions through character development

Just a little acknowledgement of what he's seeing...you know crazy monsters and other f***** up stuff.

Not even a "Oh my god"...come on, not that hard.

The guy just seems a bit wooden if he's not going to react to his surroundings.

Well... Leon never got scared in RE4 and that is still a great game. The only game I felt that the main character actually got scared was Outlast. Other games you're in 3rd person and behind a person and can't even see their expressions anyway.

After the shit he saw in RE2 though...it pretty much hardened him

see that's what you get when you build amazing hardware. i have a feeling there will be certain differences with each version. :p

Genuine-User3556d ago

I'm sure the game will look quite good, just a shame the animations are quite old school.

LightDiego3556d ago

Maybe you could release Vanquish 2 for PS4 then?

Original FEAR is a goddamn masterpiece

Was playing Alien: Isolation again a few weeks ago, still holds up and the AI is incredible.

F.E.A.R. was another amazing game, shame the series went downhill with 2 and then fell off entirely with F3AR.

Couldn’t get into Fatal Frame, bought the remaster on PS5 and just…couldn’t.

DeathTouch355d ago

Fatal Frame 2 is an underrated masterpiece.
