Game of The Generation - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

PixlBit | "Even though the transition into the newest generation of gaming consoles has been a gradual, whimpering affair so far, it’s pretty clear that the previous generation is wrapping up its final encore. To look back at how the PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS thrilled us for years, PixlBit brings you our Game of the Generation series. Our staff has picked their personal favorite, most influential, most impactful games to highlight as we bid adieu to what was.

I respect the opinion, but Skyrim wasn't even my Game of the Year that year, and I'd say Oblivion was a better game. My Game of the Generation was Demon's Souls and the year Skyrim came out Dark Souls was my Game of the Year. Just my opinions.

i really loved Skyrim
it's the definition of western RPG

and the open world is massive
i still haven't after multiple playthroughs
finished all of the quests or visited all of the areas

AnotherProGamer3973d ago

I disagree

The story and characters are boring and don't develop, the combat system is floaty and unsatisfying, the dungeons are very repetitive and linear

Vegamyster3973d ago

The thing that impresses me about Skyrim is the sheer amount of content, you can put 100 hours into the game and discover stuff you haven't seen before. Most of the issues i have with the game can be fixed through mods.

AnotherProGamer3973d ago

I only got like 15-20 hours from it, I got bored when a lot of the quests were he same thing over and over also the mods couldn't really fix the combat or dungeons mostly just the UI and graphics

@AnotherProGamer

Ultimate Combat is a pretty good mod, way better then Oblivion.

BattleN3973d ago

Not to mention the bugs, crashes, glitches and terrible horse lol
I play Skyrim but it's a love hate affair.
I like to glitch so it's not all bad!

It's a decent game, but it's definitely not without its flaws, and doesn't deserve GOTY, let alone GOTG.

MS could compress their games on disc

Skyrim is still my favorite ES game. I’m playing through it again right now since I never finished it.

jznrpg20d ago

Morrowind is by far my favorite. But I’m getting old and played Daggerfall Morrowind and Oblivion before Skyrim

ActualWhiteMan30d ago

Yeah totally. Definitely won’t be hacking it Nintendo 🤞🏻

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast57d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic57d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

dmonee58d ago

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

TheColbertinator58d ago

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast57d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.

At this point, if you still don't have these games, just wtf are you even doing?
