I think it is more the fact that a lot of people out there bash the Wii U and claim that it is hardly as powerful as the PS3 let alone more than it. So when something highlights how it is indeed more powerful than the PS3 it is worth noting. It isn't ''bragging'' rather pointing out a little believed fact.

Man gamers are a silly bunch, people just can't handle the idea that the Wii U when properly utilized can produce graphics closer to current gen than last gen. Yes the Wii U's on paper specs point to it being closer to last gen but people fail to realize that it is the only console like console left in terms of how the hardware is designed (more focused dedicated PPC hardware) The PS4 and Xone are streamlined PCs the Wii U is a efficient gaming console it is able to punch above its wieght.

^Give this guy a bubble for intelligence. The Wii U is newer hardware and while it's not as strong as PS4, it's clearly more powerful than PS3 and this developer proved that. Newer hardware is often better, so I'm not upset by the comparison at all. PS3 was a great console for its time and IMO the best of its generation, but that generation is over and we have to understand that newer consoles will generally be stronger, even than the allegedly weak Nintendo console.

First off, your suggested title isn't flamebait, but asinine. It's based on nothing but you trying to flip yellowflash's position, except you don't seem to understand what that position is, so you made a fool of yourself.

I don't know why you bring up Driveclub since it isn't a PS3 game. And it also said in the article that somehow the system is not capable of running 60fps, which, unless I'm missing something here, is a blatant lie. Nothing resourceful if you don't take your time to make the game just as beautiful on PS3 in the first place.

Depends on the hardware and the game's fidelity which is basically like graphical detail. If a game has high fidelity then it might have to run at a lower framerate. PS4 (especially) and Wii U are stronger than PS3 so they have a chance of running a game better depending on how the developer decides to make their game. I hope that clears it up. :)

What makes it extra stupid is that the game is a cross-buy on the Sony platforms, so anybody who buys it for the ps3 also gets the PS4 version. So they still get the version that runs at 1080p/60fps.

"Technically speaking" the PS360 are around the level of the Wii U when you consider the overall console GFLOPS.

The problem is that the Wii U's GPU is around 50% more powerful than the PS360's GPUs and has the benefit of newer technologies, meaning when it comes to graphics and running games the Wii U is the more powerful console. Add in the fact that the Wii U has 4x more RAM than those consoles, and it's clear the Wii U is the better console for running games, and no one should be arguing that any longer.

Xbox 360: 115 GFLOPS CPU + 240 GFLOPS GPU = 355 GLOPS
(Add in the other performance boost and it turns out to be around 360 GFLOPS hence the name)

PS3 Theoretical: 314 GFLOPS CPU + 192 GFLOP GPU = 506 GFLOPS

PS3 Realistic: 235 GFLOPS CPU + 192 GFLOPS GPU = 427 GFLOPS
(The PS4 can't reach it's theoretical performance, because the SPUs act as threads meaning they don't offer a near constant 100% performance, and 1 of the SPUs if dedicated to console maintenance, and not for gaming. However, the Cell was truly a blessing for the PS4 in the long run, though a more powerful GPU would have eliminated most of the need for it to begin with as well as making games easier to develop for from Day 1).

Wii U: 100 GFLOPS CPU + 352 GFLOPS GPU = 452 GFLOPS

The Wii U is just better.

The Wii U is as much on par with last-gen as the XB1 is on-par with this gen. The XB1 may be less powerful than the PS4, but it's graphics are more on par with a PS4 than it is on par with a PS3/360.

The Wii U can't even touch the visuals of the XB1 let alone a PS4, and it can only just barely beat out the near decade old PS3 hardware. The Wii U may technically be considered a next-gen console, but it has MUCH more in common with last-gen graphics/capabilities than it does current gen.

Trine 2: Director's Cut runs better on Wii U than the PS3 version, and includes an expansion that was only available for PC until that point because the PS3 and 360 couldn't run that expansion to the satisfaction of the devs, whereas Wii U did it easily.

And that was a launch game, so anyone that played this game on Wii U back in 2012 and knew these tidbits, knew already that, YES, the Wii U is indeed more powerful than the PS3.

My Attari has better graphics than my Pong game- My electronic football game circa 1977+- has much better graphics than the Wii u ok so the CPU is not quite as strong and the memory a bit light but it has a proprietary turbo GPU ( project mocha- real hush hush) that will have virtualy the same graphics as a PC ......

The devs said it themselves that they couldn't hit 60fps AT ALL. So they went with 30fps based on the lighting techniques and post-processing effects they were using. The quote from Curve Studios is right there in the article.

The PS3 can hit 1080/60fps on some games but it requires a lot of resource sacrifice and optimization. In this case, graphics (light rendering) played a huge part in how The Swapper was played, but they had to sacrifice those light renderers in order to hit a consistent 30fps.

I think Sony and/or Microsoft pay third parties to gimp the Wii U version or ignore it outright. With both companies paying for timed exclusives and dlc for multiplats, it's not hard to imagine them paying 3rd parties to starve the Wii U of third party content. Indies on the other hand aren't in bed with Sony/MS so they have more freedom. I think the Wii U if properly utilized could run a version of Destiny very close to the PS4 version and I don't think that's something Sony wants people to see, considering how heavily they are investing in third parties this generation.

I didn't even know that the Swapper was coming to the Wii U. Very nice indeed. Another game coming that you guys should check out is The Fall. I backed the kickstarter campaign and played the PC version of it. Great game.

Simple, i still love the games nintendo provides, i have 2 younger brothers and a girlfriend who play with me what makes it awesome to have local multiplayer games, and by last, because i really dont have the same time to play has i had when i was 16, wich make it that the ps4 or xbox1 AAA titles look alot less desirable.

I loved the PS3 and I'm not bothered by this. I already knew the Wii U was at least a little better than the PS3 in terms of specs. This has been established for a while now, so I can't understand why people are upset. PS4 is still the strongest console this gen but Wii U can still have awesome looking games. You would think we could just be happy about that.

Right Now Nintendo is showing these companies how to make a good game. Toad Item tracker and Splatoon are sleeper hits which are geared to make a profit so to be honest. Nintendo can do like the others make a beast of a system or they can harness the power of what is there and make classics.
