"We're going to build the greatest Star Wars game ever created"

EA’s iconic games studio is taking a number of big gambles.

It has opened a new LA studio, given Battlefield to another developer, it’s trying to re-launch its cult Mirror’s Edge franchise and then build the greatest Star Wars game of all time. MCV finds out more from DICE general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson.

I war just about to say something like that. The greatest star wars game probably isnt even a star wars game. It might end up being destiny.

is destiny a new type of genre that i havent heard of b4? jus say fps

Well, the good news is that they actually can now that Lucas can't walk in and put a kibosh on what the devs are working on: (Force Unleashed, Starwars 1313, Untitled Darth Maul game, etc etc.)

On the other hand, it is DICE, EA, and essentially Disney that are in control. Hopefully they will develop the game and have realistic goals and timelines for the game.

I thought Mr Lucas still had creative input and could veto things he didn't think fit in the universe he created.
I am more than happy to be wrong though.

As far as the films go he has passed the torch. I don't see why this would be different for video game development as (imo) it is very much like the "shared universe" novels that are out.

While those authors have to stick to canon, they are really able to explore characters and story lines as they see fit.

Here are a quote from George:
“It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime.”

Well that should only be a good thing then....fingers crossed they can go back to the prequels and do a decent job!

Better than KOTOR? Good luck.

PiNkFaIrYbOi3622d ago

If Bioware is involved it is possible. If not well wouldn't hold our breath on it being better than KOTOR.

TheWackyMan3622d ago

Wait, do we hold Bioware up to a high regard still?

pompombrum3622d ago

I think many of the people involved with the original KOTOR have now left Bioware.. even if Bioware did get involved, I can't imagine them being able to make a game that can stand up next to KOTOR.

CloudyAero3622d ago

I STILL to this day play that game.
Really wish they made a 3. And by they I mean Bioware.

Aspyr if we sell hotcakes get that code from radical or something and create battlefield 3 please

DarkkMinion121d ago

Hope more developers do this.

Becuzisaid121d ago

I thought that was kind of obvious they were incorporating mods to piece this game together. Maybe not, but that's made me worried about one thing:

They also planned on adding the modded ending to KOTOR 2 but were legally blocked from doing so, even after they advertised that to help sell preorders for the game on Switch. Could the same happen with this? Any opponents have 3 weeks to bring down the hammer.

Wish these games would just get remakes.
