Peter Starr from Bit Cultures reviews Telltales Games' The Wolf Among Us Finale, Episode 5: Cry Wolf on the Xbox One.
"The finale of Telltale Games’ The Wolf Among Us was a satisfying and thrilling conclusion to an excellent first season, however held back by some serious slow-down in the opening scene. I know that the Telltale engine isn’t the most concrete, but typically the frame rate stutters aren’t so egregious so as to significantly detract from the experience."
"George and Andrew are back, and after a busy week of personal lives and San Diego Comic Con watching, the duo is set to celebrate the stretch end of Press Pause Radio’s newest Games Club: Telltale’s The Wolf Among Us.
Based on the popular Vertigo franchise from Bill Willingham of modern day fairy tales, we talk at length over the depiction and care involved with this original story in the Fables universe, and just how well it manages to convey the presentation and feel of the adult fantasy series, whether you’re new or a fan familiar with its comic base.
We’ve brought to you not only our usual podcast, covering our overall feelings and after thoughts about the game, in and out, but we’ve brought on board a video companion series, detailing certain choices, statistics, and detailed analysis over the subtle details at play in this murder mystery."

Here is a snippet:
"Cry Wolf cuts a perfect balance of action and diplomacy. There's a beautiful ebb and flow to the events, allowing players to catch their breath between each QTE-heavy rollercoaster of rooftop chases and bloody brawls. This tempo took me to the end without even realising it - by the time the screen finally fades to black, I was stunned to see nearly two hours had passed, and for a story driven game you really can't ask for more."
Can't wait for this to finish downloading.
Super good ending to a wonderful series.. Season 2 is gonna be awesome.. I'm still not sure what to think.
Brilliant finale. Looking forward to the next tell tale series.
I'm only twenty minutes in and the writing has been as amazing as ever, however I have already had three QuickTime events fail despite the fact that I absolutely pressed the button on time (and I'm not just rage quitting because I got enough right that it didn't effect the overall sequence at all. I just know for a fact I hit those button prompts) and most annoyingly some jarring story moments and lack of ability to choose my own path.
-spoilers for the first two scenes coming up. (Think Georgie)-
I had decided to take Georgie into questioning, forging a deal with the crooked man. I assumed the game would let me try to butter up the crooked man by telling him everything would be settled if I could take Georgie then once I had Georgie, using him and his obvious sense of betrayal as a witness to prosecute the crooked man. It seemed an obvious enough path to work however after Georgie turned on the others, threatening them. I had the choice of Grabbing him, grabbing the crooked man or yelling everyone I wasn't leaving. I chose to grab him since he was threatening the others and I had already arranged to take him with the crooked man,
At that point the Crooked man told me he had hoped we could do this some other way and for some reason set his entire gang of goons on me. After beating them and chasing down Georgie I was hoping at least then I would have the chance to persuade him to speak out against his former employer. Hoping I could at least offer to call the doctor that had patched me up when I was at death's door or at least ipump him for real info but no. I got the option of how angry or cool I wanted to be about what was happening anyway.
Don't get me wrong. This series has been amazing so far. The best thing I have played by a telltale and I'm sure by the end I'll be amazed by the story. I'm just a little sad that it's been this noticeably messy and constricting so early into it.
