Next DOOM Will Only be Shown to Those Who Attend QuakeCon

Instead of simply using the convention as a springboard to hype a reveal, only fans in attendance will get the first glimpse of DOOM.

Yea dude, Bethesda is so annoying. Why are they so secretive about their games? No one knew anything about ESO until it came out and then it flopped. Hopefully this DOOM reveal can be watched on Twitch at least.

They are just trying to generate hype for a developer who has lost all its great key people and takes 5 years to make an average game (rage anyone?). John Carmack leaving was the nail in this small developers coffin imho. Don't expect Doom to be that great until Id is closed and the IP's given to a good developer.

Id are not a "good" developer??? The people that brought us quake/doom and the masters of 1st person shooters. I wouldnt call them a small developer. I would call them a AAA studio. I thought RAGE was a great game and the cycle of 5 years to make a game is what it should take not 12 months of regurgitated copy and paste - fifa/COD. All they need to do to generate hype for Doom has already been done by announcing it. The rest takes care of itself.

The Id that brought use great games does no longer exist, those developers have left over the years and with J. Carmacks departures the final shoe has dropped. They are nothing, a shell of what they were. Doom 4 already had to be scrapped and completely restarted once already. Quakecon has been losing popularity for years and now with no Carmack speech expect half the attendence maybe less. I don't live far from Id's home office and they are irrelevent in this community. I don't care what anyone else thinks. Rage was disappointing, so was Doom 3 other than offering nice graphics it was average, Rage was average, now they haven't released a game in years and John Carmack is gone.

Funny thing is RAGE and WOLFENSTIEN NEW ORDER has the BEST FPS SHOOTING MECHANICS from 7th gen ! ID TECH 5 is a great engine for very smooth shooting mechanics! Also their are a lot of people who loved RAGE! Heck people are still playing ROAD RAGE , which is the "competitive vehicle combat" multiplayer from RAGE , all the time ! Now i am not saying RAGE is perfect, but again , JOHN CARMARK wanted to make RAGE 2 , to improve the game , but i think BETHESDA wanted a new DOOM game! Also RAGE sold almost 3 million copies ! Not bad for a new IP! Also BETHESDA is the publisher for the new DOOM game. ID SOFTWARE is the development team for the new DOOM game.

No 3 hour speech from John Carmark ! To me that was the best thing to watch at QUAKECON! Also John Carmark wanted to work on RAGE 2 two years ago, but i think BETHESDA wanted to push a new DOOM instead . Oh well .

Which engine would you prefer?? Crytek? Source? Unreal? I personally think the ID Tech 5 engine is more than capable of producing great games. Just my opinion
