Cant wait for pc and dc, both look amazing, so hyped that so many racing games are coming :-)

amiga-man3957d ago (Edited 3957d ago )

DriveClub has me excited, the racing experience is more than just the cars but the surroundings you drive in and DriveClub is simply stunning drawing you further into the game and making it more real.

If it plays as well as it looks then racing fans are in for a real treat.

World of Speed will look good but not Super Awesome because it's an MMO meant to run on lower specced PC's plus have a ton of players. Will have to compete with Forza Horizon 2 for best racing MMO.

Driveclub looks darn good, at times better than Project Cars. (even though PC is still in Beta mode while DC is almost done)

Project Cars is the total package for me. While some are hung up on Drive Club vs. Project Cars GRAPHICS they fail to realize that Project Cars Gameplay wins by a country mile.

Advanced A.I. and Real Time Damage that changes the cars Physics on the Fly adds a truly NEXT GEN level of realism to the Racing Genre.

Take away this and I myself would NOT be playing ProjectCars as it would be just another Last Gen racer but with better graphics.

Thank You slight Madd for pushing the Racing Genre FORWARD.

BitbyDeath3957d ago

Driveclub is not a sim which is why they do not want damage affecting performance. I'm not a big racer fan but if I were to choose one over the other then I much prefer arcade racer gameplay.

Hk85karlsson3957d ago

PC is set to release 1 (!?) month after DriveClub.
So beta stage isn´t exactly the term I´d use for a comparison.

CernaML3957d ago

" they fail to realize that Project Cars Gameplay wins by a country mile. "

Thats what I thought... until I played it. Game had the exact same problems as the Shift games and its terrible.

EvilWay3958d ago

DriveClub = microtransactions galore

Project Cars = looks amazing but haven't seen enough on it

World of Speed = Have not watched one thing, I can just think of it being another Need for Speed arcade style garbage

Destrania3957d ago

Wtf are you talking about? Here's an idea, buy DriveClub outright and get all the content! Problem solved.

MysticStrummer3957d ago

Your comment wasn't even long, but I stopped reading after the first line.

Destrania3957d ago (Edited 3957d ago )

If anyone hasn't checked this out, they need to.

http://blog.eu.playstation....

Goes to show how much care has been taken for DriveClub's creation and execution. A true next-gen experience. Can't wait.

Rhythmattic3957d ago

#41 The recordings were so accurate that BMW and Mercedes-Benz AMG requested copies to replace their existing library.

Cant wait to hear it.

one2thr3957d ago

Mother of God!!!!!

-Load times-

#51 Despite all of the above, once selected a track will take no more than 15 seconds to load.

#Drive Club

SaveFerris3957d ago

Polyphony Digital should use some of these for Gran Turismo 7, especially the bit about the audio.

S2Killinit3957d ago

what impresses me the most about Drive Club is the in engine real time flipping over of cars they showed in one of the videos. It was amazing to watch a car flip over without any cut scenes and act like how a real car would when/if it flips. really excited for it.

Give_me_head_strong3957d ago

In that same video, you can see a car hit an invisible wall on the right side of the track. And also, the car that flipped sustained absolutely no damage and continued on it's merry way after the accident. It was the farthest thing from realism imaginable, really.

Spotie3957d ago

Good thing it's an arcade/sim hybrid, and not a straight up sim, eh, troll?

S2Killinit3956d ago

well, first off, it hit the mountain side and rolled. secondly, it was still bounds ahead of any in engine flipping mechanism I've seen in other racing games (or should I say haven't seen because usually when they look that good, they don't include any flipping mechanics) Also, the game is still not released, which means they could be fixing any would be issues you might have. Although something tells me the issue you have with the game has more to do with the fact that its not on your system of choice.

PS: personally i couldn't care less if a game thats supposed to be about your racing skills doesn't have damage system because once you add that, then you have to have an effect on the handling of the car, and that sort of beats the point of a racing game.

Classic PS4 Racer DriveClub Is Now a Decade Old

PushSquare:

DriveClub, the legendary PS4 racer from shuttered Runcorn studio Evolution, has such an interesting story.

Originally announced alongside the PS4, the game had been intended as a launch title – we even played it in a big London church Sony had rented to showcase the new system prior to its release.

Evolution was done dirty... DC is still the most stunning visual game of its generation. They certainly deserved better in the end.

VenomUK201d ago (Edited 201d ago )

DriveClub was pretty and I loved the experience of driving in the rain, it was immersive. I had some good races with people from an old forum, but at times I found it to be a bit boring. MotorStorm was such a fun game to play and I loved the controls - it would make sense to remaster that.

DarXyde201d ago

I'd give the visual showcase award of the last generation to The Order: 1886. That game was immaculate.

Uncharted 4 was also absolutely insane, and perhaps manages to use the PS4's power in extremely clever ways.

jznrpg201d ago

It didn’t get good reviews unfortunately

obidanshinobi201d ago

Cause the game was mediocre at best, and surpassed in pretty much every area by Forza Horizon 2.

IRetrouk201d ago

Apart from visuals, driving model, weather effects, only thing forza had was an open world...

Inverno201d ago (Edited 201d ago )

It's multiplayer component was the only thing struggling at launch but the game was still perfectly playable offline. Done dirty is an understatement because how many games after came out with broken online components that got a pass? Now games with an SP and MP get separate reviews for SP and MP smh! SONY shut them down as if Evo had been bleeding money instead of putting out great games. Their fate was undeserved and they were the targets of a media smear campaign due to that one trailer.

Knushwood Butt201d ago

Loved it.
Now here's a game that would benefit from a remaster.
4K, 60 FPS
I'd buy it.

ravens52201d ago

Might have to fire it up. Got it day 1, it was great to me.

outsider1624201d ago

See? Another reason why physical is important. Going all digital will have you miss out games like this.

Gabrielmpf201d ago

I loved tackling the leaderboards. It's a shame they couldn't even keep them.

Yi-Long201d ago

Brilliant game, I really miss it, and it deserved so much better than what Sony did to it.
Most important reason I liked it; It was FUN. That’s it. The actual gameplay, throwing a car around corners, the challenging AI opponents, the entertaining tracks which were peak-design, etc etc, it was above all just FUN to play.

60FPS on PS5: Unofficial PS5 'FPS Boost' mods are radically improving PS4 back compat

Digital Foundry : Whether it's via FPS Boost or bespoke software upgrades, backwards compatibility on the current-gen consoles delivered an unexpected delight - the ability to liberate older console games from their 30fps limits, running them at 60 frames per second or even higher. FPS Boost did the business for Xbox Series consoles on an impressive range of titles, but there was always the sense that PS5 could do more. It's a hunch that checks out as a range of frame-rate unlocks are available for PS5, covering many must-have games - the major caveat being that only exploitable consoles running on older firmwares are invited to the party.

you love to see new life being breathed into older titles but damn the process to get there. It should be automatic that these work for everyone... not just those who exploit their systems. Really wish Sony and MS would keep this program going officially.

Psychonaut85472d ago

Damn this sucks. I want this shit so bad, but I’m not jailbreaking my console. And frankly I shouldn’t have to. I’m not a tech person, but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate? Or would that have to be a large patch?

dveio472d ago (Edited 472d ago )

"but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate?"

I guess it's not.

But it has become a profitable business if you do so.

So no one would pay for only the framerate patched to being unlocked. So studios need to offer more than that.

But this would take more time, polishing and would cost more money. So they shy away, but won't unlock the framerate, either.

That's just my personal assumption. But from what I can comprehend technically, it shouldn't be difficult to unlock framerates via a patch for older games.

... if it hadn't became a business.

RaidenBlack472d ago (Edited 472d ago )

frame-rate unlock should be free ...
We've seen many devs offer free patches and updates to pretty old PC titles, even bonuses ... so why can't devs offer the frame unlock patch for free (in consultation with the platform-producers) for a title from just a generation earlier?

Einhander1972472d ago

RaidenBlack

"frame-rate unlock should be free ..."

Obviously the result of that thinking is that developers aren't even going to do it.

If they had been allowed to charge $5-10 you would see incentivized developers doing it way more often.

People just always want everything for free, but it's not free to make the patch, people have to code it then other people have to test it, and there will always be other costs involved.

If people want dollar store gaming then expect to get what you pay for.

shinoff2183471d ago (Edited 471d ago )

Raiden I might be wrong but last I thought it cost money to put patches out on consoles.

As far as me paying for it, I'm not all that interested tbh. Not enough to pay for it with older games, and newer games have been pretty decent about it for the most part.

dumahim472d ago

Sounds like the modder has to go in to make changes to unlock it on a game by game basis. "Simple" enough to do it unofficially, but to have it done officially, they need someone to go in a make that change, put out a patch and put it through certification, which I believe is not necessarily a cheap thing to do. It's questionable if going through this would then give them enough sales to make it worthwhile.

Inverno472d ago

Many games still have physics tied to framerate, i think it's cause they wouldn't want to go in and do anything extra. Then there's the 10 dollar upgrades they rather charge. The problem is that there's no compromise, cause if I could mod my PS4 and all I'd lose is online play then id jailbreak it immediately. Mods have done so much for PC games and they could do the same for consoles, but manufacturers hafto be willing to compromise.

shinoff2183471d ago

It's not to hard to do and there's youtube videos that break it down really well. ANyway most of us here arent able to break are console anyway due to being up to date on firmware from playing

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 471d ago
Chocoburger472d ago

Yep, this sucks having to require a jailbreak for something that should be standard in our industry by now. I learned my lesson when PS4 was jailbroken and I didn't keep a console on low firmware for years, but now I'm holding onto two low firmware PS5s specifically because there are features I'll be able to do that you can't do on official firmware, so this will pay off for me soon enough.

Jin_Sakai472d ago

It should be a sin to let these games sit and be stuck at 30fps.

EazyC472d ago

RDR 2 not getting a 60FPS patch for PS5 was a crime.

Why did EA Kill Project CARS?

After the last installment I’d say most hardcore fans left. It’s just not that good anymore so I can’t really blame EA this time.

masterfox899d ago

because it was always a project and it never got finished :D

ChubbyBlade897d ago

Every game is a project. Your joke doesn’t make sense

InUrFoxHole896d ago

It makes perfect sense. It's obviously a play on the title. Jesus christ you must be a blast at parties.

ApocalypseShadow898d ago (Edited 898d ago )

Ask Bullfrog or Black Box or Tiburon or Studio 33 or Criterion or any of the previously acquired developers who made racing games as competition, or as developers of EA games, then eventually dissolved into oblivion or reassigned. Just ask them. They'll tell you why.

ApocalypseShadow897d ago

Oh. I forgot. Even Code Masters were absorbed into Criterion. Another racing developer EA took over.

Every racing developer either absorbed by EA or eventually destroyed by them. They either kill competition or have them in the end make Need 4 Speed for them.

MadLad897d ago

EA only cancels projects for one reason.
They didn't see enough money in it.

Kombatologist897d ago (Edited 897d ago )

Not when it's because it didn't meet some crazy margin. It's like if something doesn't make EA a billion dollars on day one (I'm exaggerating that figure of course), they swiftly put it out to pasture.

SurgicalMenace897d ago (Edited 897d ago )

Much like if you're spending money on what's a bad investment for your desired goals, you'd do away with it, if you're wise. We should try to get away from thinking we know more about business than individuals that have been doing it for decades. Perhaps you could benefit from going into business instead of wasting all of your talents in comment sections. It's clear that you're the missing piece that EA's been looking for.

MadLad896d ago

I've made a good amount of money betting on underdog investments over the years.

EA sets unrealistic expectations of their more niche developers, yet continue to fund absolute blunders like DICE and the Battlefield series year after year.

dumahim897d ago

EA butted in and messed with the formula and act shocked when it doesn't work out.
