Move Over Saints Row, Deep Silver Acquires Distribution Rights for Goat Simulator

Hardcore Gamer: When Goat Simulator first surfaced, it was seen as something of a joke. Then that joke turned out to be real and became a hit at conferences. Finally, the game was released to surprisingly decent reviews and became something of an instant cult classic, taking the internet by storm for a few weeks. Apparently that was enough to get the attention of a major publisher, with Deep Silver announcing today that they've acquired the North American distribution rights for the game.

First THQ and now this? Deep Silver must be really desperate.

Kayant4017d ago

Like the you comment on all pieces you submit ;)

lashes2ashes4017d ago

Why would that make them desperate? They would not be distributing a game if there was no profit for them and lots of developers do destribution for other companies games.

Runner-up GotY 2014. Current first place going to The Stick of Truth.

LightDiego4017d ago

Looks like you don't play games so much.

Christopher4017d ago (Edited 4017d ago )

@LightDiego

Oh, I play plenty. So far, Stick of Truth is the best game out this year for me. Yes, better than Second Son, Watch Dogs, and more. And, as far as pointless, mindless fun, Goat Simulator has been a blast.

But, I understand. Your opinion is much more valid than mine. It's impossible that someone would find enjoyment in something made without any expectation than being a ridiculous diversion.

Skate-AK4017d ago

The Stick of Truth was one of the best games I have ever played. So well made. Even got the platinum.

Christopher4017d ago

You know, people act like you can't make fun games like this or its the death of the Industry. This game doesn't try to sell itself as anything other than a diversion that's enjoyable. I've seen much lesser games built around pointless tasks get touted and sold as AAA games but have had a lot more fun with Goat Simulator.

Codewow4017d ago

I'm making fun of the industry. Not the game.

Christopher4017d ago

@Codewow: Then I'm confused. What about this is bad for the gaming industry?

Honest question there. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Next Gen version confirmed!

Christopher4017d ago

It's on PC... can't get much more next-gen than that...

Dudebro904017d ago (Edited 4017d ago )

You're so cool. I hope I can be as cool as you one day.

Christopher4017d ago

I thought I was just being honest, but thanks for the compliment! (sarcasm on that last bit)

Skate-AK4017d ago

LOL. Someone took you as a elitist but it's just the truth.

ninjahunter4017d ago

Ide take it that they acquired the rights for access to the engine, since Deep Silver is one of the more technologically advanced companies out there.
