Final Fantasy VIII Updated with New Features

Fans of Final Fantasy VIII got a surprise today when Square Enix announced a collection of brand new features have been added to the PC version of Final Fantasy VIII. The new features come in the way of 5 new game boosters that players may activate to lessen the difficulty of the game.

So they're basically cheat codes. It's not like FFVIII needed to be easier. It actually needs to be much harder. It's like the easiest in the series.

I`m really struggling to find the point of this.
Speed up, okay good, speed through some of those summons, I guess. But what enjoyment could someone possibly get out of using any of those others to play the game? They pretty much nullify the 'game' potion of the game.

As if it really needed it. FFVIII is already one of the easiest FF games. All you have to do is NOT level up. During the dollet mission, kill off Squall and Zell. Equip all current GFs on Seifer and solo him to level 100 on the bridge area. Draw 3 stacks of everything, transfering to the other characters at each fill up. And get the starting GFs all to level 100. It takes about 16 hours. Then use Run/Break/LevelDown in every random encounter throughout the game to keep all characters at base levels. Make sure you draw 3 stacks of everything throughout the game and play lots of Triple Triad and convert the cards into rare magic early. You can also use Edea during the short time you have her later in the game to level up more GFs.

16 hours grinding Seifer. Atleast it is not cheating like with these assists. This also works on the PS version unlike the assists. You do not actually have to do any of that anyway. The only thing that is really needed is to remain at starting levels by using Run/Card/Break or Leveldown on everything. There are 2 or 3 bosses early in the game that none of those work on so you have to beat them normally, but you shouldn't gain any levels from it. The grind in dollet is just if you want to get 3 stacks of the 4 raga's and all starting GFs to 100 right away for the extra boost.

The game scales enemies including bosses and optional GFs, to the average level of the player party. The player characters also do not gain stats as they level up (until they have the stat gain skills later in the game) while enemies do. Leveling up without the stat gain skills does nothing but increase the power of enemies. A G-Soldier for example at level 1 has 45 HP, 3 STR and 1 VIT, while at level 100 it has 3040 HP, 73 STR and 13 VIT. Ultima weapon at level 1 has 51,100 HP, 40 STR, 12 VIT while at level 100 he has 160,000 HP, 254 STR and 188 VIT.

By doing this at the beginning, you can keep all your characters at their base levels which causes almost everything in the game to remain at around level 7, With the exception of everything on Island closest to heaven and Island closest to hell which are always level 100 and Omega weapon which is also always level 100 (Omega weapon is only fixed at level 100 on the PS version. On the PC version it scales)

These "features" defeat the purpose of the entire game. In layman's terms these are cheats, everything after high speed mode is a disgrace, to the actual skill it takes to play this game.

These aren't features. They're cheats. And they completely ruin the whole point of the game in my opinion.

lol how sad if PC gamers need this literally cheats to beat the game, sorry but those are plain cheats not features.

At least there's no freaking cheat to gather all rare cards.
FFVIII was and is a great game, this "features" aka cheats totally annihilates the meaning and fun of this game, leveling, exploring, story, etc.

Remember beating this game this and FFVII along side destroying all weapons and getting the gold chocobo, good times.
