Five Franchises That Should Come to Vita

One of the writers at Middle of Nowhere Gaming decided to take a look what games might be good on the PS Vita. Do you agree? What games do you think belong on the Vita?

Pretty good list. I absolutely agree with Fallout. Having a Fallout built from the ground up specifically for the Vita would be amazing. Touchscreen for VATS and the PipBoy, huge world to explore with lots of places to go/see, hundreds of hours of content. That's the kind of game the Vita really needs.

If Bethesda doesn't plan on bringing Fallout of Elder Scrolls to Vita then someone else really needs to come in and capitalize on that.

I think the most disappointing thing is the lack of support Sony has gave to the console. The 3DS went through the exact same phase were they didn't have many original games and were rightful criticised for it. Nintendo changed that by developing and publishing quality games themselves consistently which helped the system immensely.

I love my Vita, it is the best handheld in terms of hardware and has a lot of awesome games. However very few original titles and although Sony does produce quality games for the system (Gravity Rush, Killzone Mercenary) they are not spread out enough and barely marketed.

If Sony have any intentions of making Vita a success they will have to invest a lot more time and money into backing the system. With the early success of the PS4 which is maintaining momentum I can't see them shifting their focus.

The problem is Vita is not performing well in the States in comparison to Japan. Last week it only sold about 2.4k units. :( So western devs probably don't feel like there are enough Vitas sold in NA to justify making games on it despite how high the attachment rate is. Sony needs to push the Vita in the west for western devs to get more involved.

There are more Vitas than Xbox Ones or Wii Us, yet those systems get a lot more games even though the Vita has a higher attach rate. Makes no sense to me. Western devs need to just give the Vita a chance and give it some games with fresh ideas.

Well if this interview is anything to go by (look at his reaction), seems like Sucker Punch are working on a Vita title. Although, if we don't hear anything about it at E3, then I've got my doubts.

I think it's cool that the vita can play all Final Fantasy games from 1 through to 10. And MGS1,2,3, MGS:PW, portable ops and MG1 & MG2. As a PSone fan it's great to have that library portable.

In all honesty, the lack of popular franchises is why i love the Vita, that gives a chance for new games to shine instead of being overshadowed by some mainstream title.
Im loving Toukiden, will be getting DanganRonpa soon.

Sorry to break it to you but the things that sell consoles are established franchises. Once we are able to get enough well-known games onto the Vita, the "mainstream" games, the Vita will begin to fly off of shelves.

These games didn't sell me on the PS3 or any other console before. VC is what sold me on the PS3, Gravity Rush is what sold me on the Vita.
Im looking for new, innovative stuff, not more of the same.

It all has to do with mass appeal. Once you establish enough of a userbase through these means then you are able to sell more IPs. That's what you seem to not be understanding here.

Are you even trying to understand what I'm saying here in the least? I'm all for new IPs, but established franchises should make their way onto the Vita. Saying you "don't want them" is a really stupid statement. The more games the better. Just because these games don't appeal to you doesn't mean they don't appeal to anyone else. In fact, you ARE the minority in this case.

Or rather, many of them are just looking for reasons to paint the system in a bad light.

Just like everything else, it should have new IPs and familiar franchises... which it does, to a certain degree. But there never seems to be enough for some people.

I would never be upset with more quality games on the Vita, but I don't NEED any particular franchise. I like discovering the new games and stories, and am most looking forward to Gravity Rush 2.

Don't need GTA, or FF, or a lot of things. I do understand that a lot of people want to see these franchises, but I can't agree that it's reason to not buy or support the Vita.

I feel like I am the only person in the world that loves the wave of Indies that has swept onto the Vita and looks to continue. If I want console quality games, I'll play them on my PS3 or PS4 when I get it.

I don't want infamous, GTA, GoW, Resident Evil, Fallout, TLoU, or Elder Scrolls on my vita. I want those on my console. The games I've most enjoyed for my vita are mostly indies. I'd rather have a new Spelunky over any of the games mentioned on this list. Actually the game I want most for my Vita is the Xbone indie "Below," that game looks like it would be exactly what I want.

I know how you feel, I love indies too and find them so fun. However, indies alone will not help Vita succeed. It needs some AAA games like every other console to attract people who shy away from it. Japan is a good example of supporting the system with those titles regularly.

I'm going to disagree that Triple AAA titles are necessary to move hardware. I feel like Sony missed a golden opportunity by not having minecraft available at launch. The minecraft thing has largely faded in its intensity since then and the game has yet to arrive. Had the Vita been home to Minecraft since day one, I guarantee Sony would have been able to double its units. Kids LOVE minecraft and many of those who received a 3DS would have requested a Vita and Minecraft.

Now are there any other indie games that could move units....That is debatable, but if Sony were able to identify and get ahead of the curve on the next "minecraft" and put it on Vita, it could very well move units. What that game is I don't know. But I don't necessarily believe that AAA is necessary for moving units.

Resident Evil is dead and very 1990s and 2000s so lets leave that alone. I've also rethought the Bioshock idea, and don't think it will have the same dark atmosphere required to make it anywhere near the console / pc version so it wont be any good.

Fallout would be great, what about the Mass Effect series.

Hanging for Borderlands 2 on Vita. As a Vita fan I hope this kicks things off again for the Vita and that top level remakes and new games can get an injection.
