Can't be any worse in my opinion

KingDon3677d ago

Worse? Seriously?

GTA V was one of the best games of the generation..

NovusTerminus3677d ago (Edited 3677d ago )

Some people, myself included just could not get into the game.

The story was to haphazard, with characters that just felt... Flat, and the onlines inability to get heists (Bragging point from the trailer) really killed it for me, needing Car Insurance was stupid, one of GTA's best things is just recklessly driving around but they made that bothersome online, and it has gamings worst Character Creator ever designed...

That said I loved the driving mechanics in the game, absolutely amazing!

Visiblemarc3676d ago

I agree that Gta V was a great game, but I'm confused why the article is comparing the two games, at all.

GTA is a GTA-style open world game. Seems obvious, but I believe it's a genre of it's own.

Watchdogs looks like an urban Assassin's Creed, with a few new elements. I'm excited for it, but it is what it is.

Mr-Dude3676d ago

I for one didn't like GTA V that much...
Online was not for me, and the story was also dissapointing. But that's me

TitanUp3676d ago

watch dogs is an open world game, not sure how we are supposed to compare games when we don't have many details on watch dogs story.

if they do have story details ill ignore it anyways, don't want to be spoiled

Baka-akaB3676d ago (Edited 3676d ago )

To each their own i guess . I just dont see how people can easily complain about V's characters and story , when looking back at those from 3 up to IV . Those were flat , except maybe in 4 , the game that tried to do a more cinematic experience too , but at the expense of the fun and gameplay experience .

I only saw story driven open world games like AC , Yakuza and a few others perform better in that department ... with trade offs

If there is a big issue in the single player imo , it's how their layhed out a rather superb role , but you are still limited in ways to interract with it , but tha's an issue with most of the genre itself .

Mankey3676d ago

Eh. It's was pretty damn good, but didn't quite reach the cream of the crop.

Top Games this Generation?

Red Dead Redemption
Fallout New Vegas
Batman: Arkham City

ZombieDust3676d ago

It is his opinion bro... I share his though. I thought GTA V was awful. Certain game mechanics were better than in the past but story was lame and unfocused and the missions were boring and repetitive.

Nunchez3676d ago

Definitely not the best by Rockstar at least. Red Dead Redemption was fantastic.

"Can't be any worse in my opinion"

You must not play many games. Watch Dogs can easily be worse than GTA5 in several ways.

mcarsehat3676d ago (Edited 3676d ago )

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS!!!!!!!!

I agree, GTA V fell flat to me minutes after i finished the main story missions. The combat was boring when in the streets, (the Heist missions were insane)I avoided the bad routes of the story (the choices) and the end was so (in all sense of the word) 'HAPPY' that it just didn't satisfy me.

Plus the arcade driving wasn't fun whatsoever.

I found sleeping dogs to be a better game.

But i can't wait for watch_dogs. The graphics, physics and the combat looks incredibly innovative and fun and the story looks really interesting, to to mention the 100 hour objective length.

Ezio20483677d ago

No, it can't. Gta V has set a benchmark for open world games which won't be surpassed anytime soon.

MysticStrummer3676d ago

Love Skyrim, but as a "living world" it leaves a lot to be desired.

ape0073676d ago (Edited 3676d ago )

lol no, comparing watch dogs or any other open world game for that matter is just unfair

no one can touch the mastery, fun, atmosphere and beauty that is GTA V

it even brought hedio kojima to his knees

simply put, no game can beat gta but gta, GTA IV was the king of open world action genre for 5 years, no other open world game came close until gta v came out

Agent20093676d ago (Edited 3676d ago )

Up to a taste. What if I think Watch_Dogs is more "fun, atmosphere and beauty" than GTA V? I'm wrong with my own opinion? Also, I can't remember GTA being crowned for a king of open-world genre. Won't kneel down beside that king, anyways...

Besides, I'm quite disappointed that people can't even point out what exactly was wrong with GTA V. Most of them blame the storyline (was it ever something special in GTA games?), the Online (which is a completely separate thing) or, what's most ridiculous, the driving mechanics! Guys, those are not the reason why the game might felt shallow or overrated.

Eh, no wonder GTA V is "disappointing", if all people wanted from Rockstar was San Andreas 2, and even though they practically got it, they're still disappointed. Oh, is it because they can't enter the Burger Shot?

ape0073676d ago

i don't think all the sales and all the praise is up to "personal taste"

spirited3676d ago (Edited 3676d ago )

i will be surprised if Watch dogs has half as much fun and amount of content
as GTA V.

Stapleface3676d ago

IDK, it looks like you will be able to do pretty much the same things in Watchdogs as you can in GTA but with more options to do those things with. Granted there might not be hookers to pick up or tennis to play. But IMO tennis and darts were never a big part of why I liked GTA 5.

STICKzophrenic3676d ago

Hopefully Watch_Dogs has a better ending than GTAV.

The ending kinda came out of nowhere, felt rushed and very anticlimactic.

Watch Dogs Deserves A Remake, More Than Ever

With the world of information and technology, privacy and security growing every day, Watch Dogs deserves another chance in the spotlight, now more than ever.

RaidenBlack1018d ago

The only Ubi title that deserves a faithful remake right now is Splinter Cell 1.
All 2014+ Ubi titles are just underwhelming. Especially ones from 2016+ are just cancer.

LucasRuinedChildhood1018d ago (Edited 1018d ago )

Seriously, are we so far removed from Ubisoft actually making good games that people now praise Watch_Dogs in retrospect?

"Watch_Dogs has remained one of my favourite games of the last ten years." Jesus Christ.

HankHill1018d ago

I remember being so disappointed in Watch Dogs when I played it at release. It was alright, but I think I fell for the hype and I needed a game to play on my new PS4.

obidanshinobi1018d ago

This is what happens when mediocrity gets praised as good.
Standards are slipping across the whole entertainment industry.
What was once considering rubbish is now considered as OK, what once was OK is now being praised as good etc etc.

LamerTamer1018d ago

Everyone has their own likes. I liked it a lot myself. I played through it twice and liked the car chases and the open world with fairly decent environments and missions. It suffered from the whole downgrade thing where they showed graphics that weren't actually there. No game will appeal to everyone but it was still ambitious for it's time.

gantarat1018d ago

assassin's creed 1 should get a remake.

ExBee1018d ago

For certain! AC1 was brilliant at the time but with new graphics and gameplay it would be amazing! Do you prefer old combat or new though?

RaidenBlack1018d ago

I'd say a reimagining of AC1.
I direct AC1 remake would be a bad idea. It'll need better story pacing and significant better world building.

BlaqMagiq11018d ago

Old. Let it play like how it did with AC2-Syndicate style gameplay but refine the setting and story.

Profchaos1018d ago

It would need a lot changed for it to be enjoyable again as even back in 2007 on launch we were all complaining about it's repetitive gameplay go here perform one of three side quests repeat then assassination now do it over and over until a big battle with a unforgiving checkpoint system.

BlaqMagiq11018d ago

Absolutely. It needs it. The only AC I truly didn't enjoy.

chicken_in_the_corn1017d ago

I'd prefer it didn't. Ubisoft would make it so bloated, it wouldn't be anywhere near the original

smolinsk1018d ago (Edited 1018d ago )

Absolutely, this watch dogs legion was terrible boring.

Profchaos1018d ago (Edited 1018d ago )

As a fan of the franchise legion was garbage and I regretted my purchase for the first time in the franchise the entire thing felt like an experiment in NPC behaviour and released without the writers input on what makes a good story.

I don't think I'm alone in that feeling though as wrench and Aiden are brought back and the campaign was rewritten to fit them.

I am tempted to buy the season pass to play it again with Aiden but fool me twice shame on me I'm waiting for a deep sale

camel_toad1018d ago

Agreed. Despite the annoying hipness of the characters in part 2 I thought it was a really fun game. I was extremely disappointed and surprised at how many steps back they took with Legion. You'd think it was made by an entirely different team. Or was it?

It was just so devoid of fun.

LamerTamer1018d ago

Honestly one of my biggest annoyances with Legion is that they took out the camera views for the driving. I mean the behind the car view that they stuck us with is near unplayable. I always used a first person driving view. After two releases why did they take OUT features? I don't get it.

TheSinsibleOne1018d ago

The fist watchdog game was the best by far
After that they weren't weird and annoying with that hipster stuff. Aiden was a badass.

LamerTamer1018d ago

I thought so at first too. I got used to it and it ended up being good after some play time. I just had to give it a chance.

TheEnigma3131018d ago

Remake the PoP series from xbox/ps2/gc era

RaidenBlack1018d ago

They are remaking Sands of Time.

TheEnigma3131018d ago

That's good news. Hopefully it's done right.

Inside the Driver game that died so that Watch Dogs could live

From VG247: "When cars slide, they leave tyre marks. In a game like Driver, they’re an aesthetic touch, part of the inherent cool of a handbrake turn. But those dark shadows in the road also tell a story. From tyre marks, you can determine the speed of a vehicle, when it started to skid, and its ultimate direction of travel – long after the car itself has vanished into the distance."

vallencer1083d ago

Different spellings in different parts of the world friend. Tyre is a correct way to spell it.

Pridefall1083d ago

Dunno why you got downvpted when tyre is correct in Australia.

neutralgamer19921083d ago

Give us driver San Francisco remastered

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen1083d ago

Why did they stop making some of the best games ever? Driver was one of them.

Gameseeker_Frampt1082d ago

Assassins Creed 2 showed Ubisoft how to make money and Far Cry 2 showed them that gamers don't like complex ideas. Now Ubisoft just turns out games that are just variations of the same thing.

WeAreLegion1083d ago

Best driving mechanics ever made. Nothing has come close.

Gardenia1083d ago

A story driven game with pure driving gameplay. I'd love to see a new Driver game or a remake of the first one.

ApocalypseShadow1083d ago

Yes. This one. A definite remake of the first without adding any ridiculous fluff. The first game had great physics and sound for its time. The start of the car in the beginning cinema I watched constantly. My father and uncles were big muscle and classic car freaks. Only thing crazy about the game was the relentless cops in the last level. Insane the way those police cars were and launched at you.

Bleemcast made it look better just like PC emulators. But would definitely take a remake.
