I think we're going to start seeing a lot of previously Pc only and or Xbox 360 only titles shift onto the Ps3,primarily due to the much larger user install base present right now.

There's a bubbling rumor right now that Cryteks front man will be making an appearance during Sony's E3 presentation,if true then 2008 is looking to truly be the year of the Ps3.

I played the PC version, but it was one of few games I didn't finish because I simply didn't like it. It's not many games I have to put down before I complete at least once, but I simply didn't find bioshock all that fun. The gunplay was dull for some reason, and the powers felt forced. "Oh, here's a hole in the wall covered by ice ... Hmm, hmm ... Hmm ..."

That is to bad, you missed out on one of the most interesting games I have ever played because "the powers felt forced"?

There were very few instances where you were "forced" to use a plasmid other than the very beginnings of the game when they were introducing them, but you wouldn't know that because you obviously didn't get very far.

I guess you also don't like games like Zelda, because you can't get into certain areas until you get new items/spells.

Honestly, I only have a 360, but I'm buying a PS3 really soon, I don't care about exclusivity at all, but I think that timed exclusivity is the way to go so the developers can build on the lead platform and put as much time into the title as possible.

Unless of course you're Infinity Ward and you can magically build your titles for both consoles without somehow losing any quality...

You never know since the game is based off the Unreal Engine, it could very well be a simple port. EA is finally catching up with the PS3 hardware yah know. Look at Army of Two (uses Unreal Engine), it runs pretty smooth and good on the PS3. Heck, they even finally got Madden to run 60fps on the PS3.

So even if EA ports the game, I think it will still be a good direct port with not too much loss of quality.

Well, we have to understand that Bioshock was indeed in production for the ps3 before it was "cancelled" last year. There may be pieces of that code that will be very useful in the port.

It seems unlikely to me that EA ports will continue to be shoddy in the future. If I remember correctly, PS3 owners have purchased a pretty sizable number of games from them in the last year.

With growth in install base will come quality, I think, and the PS3 has picked up quite a bit globally. They can't keep pissing off a larger number of people and expect them to keep buying forever.

He paid me for it, but I never re-purchased it. I am thinking this is a great addition to my PS3 library...looking forward to it.

Playing this game on the 360 with surround sound was freeky, all the little noises behind you and such, I know I jumped more than a couple of times while playing this game late at night with all the lights turned off.

I played BioShock on my 360 & its an absolutely beautiful game to play, and by beautiful, I don't mean only the graphics, the game story, the gameplay everything was so deep and touching. I love games with great stories. Its a big blow for Microsoft, one can assume that BioShock 2 will come to PS3 and it would have a been a big game for them. Microsoft needs to gather there sh*t quickly.
& For all those PS3 owners who haven't played BioShock before, I would recommend that you definitely try out this game, just keep it in mind, it is in first person but its not a shooter.

Actually I own both PS3 and 360. Plus my loyalty is with games and not brands. I play PS3 and 360 equally, well not equally, but the difference in my play time is not because I like one console over other, its because which game I am playing. Plus I am 24, and its no age to be a fanboy I guess;)

Yea, I totally agree that its not a true fps. Bioshock is more like an rpg that just so happens to have a fps combat system. Its an amazing game, and the best game of this current gen imo. It was one of the main reasons why I picked up a 360, and I'm glad those who only have a ps3 will be able to enjoy it too. Truly a must play for any gamer who wants a good plot to go along with great graphics and tight innovative gameplay.

Because of the poor research, lack of knowledge a last-generation view of the industry, you ignore that Bioshock is not made by Bioware but by Irrational Games, now renamed as "2k Boston".

It will be interesting if Bioshock 2 is announced just few weeks after this release, and exclusively for the Xbox 360. Ninja Gaiden Sigma comes to my mind.

By the way, please stop with the Cell talking, it hasn't ever worked before and until now, the Xbox 360 keeps outperforming in multiplatform titles. After 1 year of extra development Irrational might be able to offer a more polished version of their beautiful game, but then you might have to compare it to Bioshock 2 on the Xbox 360.

There are many multiplatform games that just run better on the Xbox 360:

GTA IV: 650p + Lower Framerate on PS3, True 720p + Better Framerate on Xbox 360.

Dark Sector: 1152x640 on PS3, True 720p on Xbox 360.

Soldier of Fortune - Payback: Performs horribly on PS3.

Condemned 2 Bloodshot: No AA on PS3, less consistent framerate vs. 2xAA on Xbox 360 and better framerate. Not big deal but still there though.

Army of Two: 1217x685 on PS3 with no AA. True 720p + AA on Xbox 360.
Lost Planet: Abysmal differences in visual performance.

And this is just to name a few. There are many, many more.

as for rez no game on x360 supports 1080P native so no mention of 60 fps is necessary

However 32 PS3 games support 1080p Ntaive REZ and 5 of them support 1080p native at 60 fps

NGS- 1080p n at 60 fps
rr7- 1080p n at 60 fps
wardevil- 1080p n at 60 fps
GT5P- 1080p n at 60 fps
Wipeout HD- 1080p n at 60 fps

although x360 doesnt support 1080p native ..x720 p will be able to do it

COD4 runs and looks better on PS3 ( 9.6 from Gamezone vs 9.5 for the x360 version

DMC4 runs at 60 fps on PS3 vs 30 fps on x360

all those ran better on PS3 despite being ports from X360 versions. As you can see many PS3 games ran at 1080p native vs 0 on x360

A unreal tournament looks horrible on the 360. probably because its not true HD and B the ut3 on the 360 got split screen thats it dosen't even get user mods and I am excluding the levels and characters because those are on the ps3 right now via user-mods. also Bioshock on the ps3 is getting updated graphics and sound. Funny though how none of these developers ever use the ps3 to potential no one has used the ps3 at 50% yet! the xbox already reached their graphical limit. now bioshock wont get close either but I think boshock 2 might scratch the surface a little (now that Microsoft's deal passed expiration date) Bioshock 2 has a high likliness of going on the ps3.

Also the 360 is a complete unreal engine in its self the only thing it uses is the unreal engine ps3 uses a slew of engines and that makes more diversity in games.

they are not equal cause of power. The cell has been prooven more powerful ( hence all the crazy science expereiments they are doing with cell processors. THe reason the games are equal ( for now) is cause developers are used to developing on "PC like" architecture which the 360 is. THey are taking the same approach for the cell, and arent developing for it correctly yet, hence why the games look the same. Once they start to develop for the Cell and not for a PC based chip then you will see the graphic power of the PS3 take off.

I guess the game didn't deserve all the hate it got simply because it was an xbox 360 exclusive... well that's how easy a game goes from hated to loved.

Let's hope the game does not get ported by another EA studio... The IP is obviously owned by EA now... and EA does not believe on exclusive content... Microsoft probably managed to make a deal with EA as far as timed exclusive.. for Bioshock 2 and then ported to the xbox 360...

Back when I had a 360 I played this game as much as possible until the inevitable end....then I played it again...then the DLC came out and I gave it another whirl. Point is, it's hard to get tired of this game, as it brings alot of the less traveled road into the picture with awesome plot devices and developement. It was like starring in a Surreal Sci-fi Action Film set in the 1950's.Even though I stepped up to a PS3 and retired the ol' box, I will be getting this again, for a wonderful trip down memory lane, and what a superb trip it will be.

Some people knew this was multiplat from along time ago, it's like Lost Planet. Thats why you never seen some of us comment in Bioshock going PS3 news, we knew better. Microsoft was not the publisher here, so it was obvious. There was never any signed exclusive deal with MS, they just chose to develope it there first. Microsoft is however the publisher in Ninja Gaiden 2 and Mass Effect, so thats all wishfull thinking.

The possibility of a MGS4 game coming to 360 depends on whether or not Konami wants to bring it out on another platform to capitalize on the IP. The funny thing about this is that there is still no official release from T2. Has anyone ever seen a situation where screenshots of a game are released before the game is officially announced by a company?

Time to post that rebuttal...actually, I'll wait until I hear from T2 or read the magazine for myself. Whichever comes first.

I heard a couple of things recently regarding both titles above.

Bioshock is 1080p? Something to do with ps3's tmu's. Not sure about that one.

Mass effect apparently runs constant 30fps no dips, no slowdown at all. use of the spu's is pretty high.

of fanboyish statements thrown around here. I am starting to firmly believe unless something is published by either Sony or Microsoft that practically everything is a timed exclusive. No matter from what developer. It all comes down to these companies want to make as much revenue possible for these games. If anything it would be dumb not to have a game as a timed exclusive, banking in on that money from the console maker and then once up bringing the game back to reap even more money. It's a solid win for game developers.

So it's basically going to come down to which original console platform holders "published" game stable you enjoy more. Or if you care about a certain timed exclusive and don't want to wait then pick up that system.

that PS3 owners get to play this game, it was one of the best games of 07 and I feel it should be played by all console fans, so congrats on another great game added to your gaming console of choice library.

However...... 360 being my console of choice..... I really hope we get some kind of Metal Gear game, maybe not MGS 4..... maybe we can get an updated Twin Snakes'esq Snake Eater or something, I dunno, I will take MGS 4 or MGS 3 on 360, I hope this statement doesn't cause any troubles, but I am just stating what I feel and want.

Bioshock coming to PS3 is good news and im happy that other players get a chance to sample a good game. I dont really see how it should bother Xbox fans though as all our copies have been collecting dust for months now. Plus a new version will no doubt already be in the pipeline. Will be renting this upon release. I get through games like wildfire so buying anything story-orientated is like throwing money away.

Firstly, let me just state my opinion of Bioshock as a whole. It appeared to me back at the time of release to be the traditional linear story game with several flaws people just 'preferred' to forget, these included the hack minigame taking you out of the immersive experience, the numerous spawn points ruining the challenge and the lack of any true replay value.

Even now that it's coming to the PS3 my opinion is unchanged about it, while I will rent it I still believe Bioshock is the most overhyped game released this gen, moreso than Halo 3. Even though the game has its flaws and quite obviously lacks the replayability of games like GTA4, COD4 etc people will forever see Bioshock as a game at the top of the tree, when imo it lacks the elements necessary for it's place on one of the highrise branches of that tree. Having said that I have no right to say it's an outright bad game, people liked it, it got game of the year and I'm glad more will get to experience it. As I've said for almost a year now, Bioshock isn't a bad game it's just that it's not for me.

Now as for EA. They've had problems with the PS3, are hated by many worldwide, but have been making strides in improving their handling of PS3 products. Bioshock should be just as good on the Ps3 as it was on 360.

I've followed EA from it's foundations on the PS1 and while it's sports titles have flopped over the years and EA has been given the 'release bugged then patch to completion' title by many I still think it has that creative invention it had over 10 years ago buried somewhere beneath the behemoth of a company it's become. I still support EA's take on C&C and love the Burnout franchise. Crysis is awesome and they're close to FIFA beating PES imo, may get FIFA over PES in the autumn for the first time since 2003.

Finally, I'm glad to see the 360 faithful (I use that phrase to indicate fans, not fanboys) putting bias aside and saying how great it is PS3 gamers get to experience Bioshock. Glad to see the 'core gamers' are still alive and well :D and not turing to fanboyism...

EA didnt make the port so why mention them. Take2 did and even if EA would acquire take2 before bioshocks come out they still wouldnt be responsible for bioshocks development since its not their dev team. EA is a company with many studios under them I know EA is fukn up right now but not every game under EA brand is to say EA fault or going to be bad just because its EA. Criterion Games proved that they can be good developers under EA and more studios under EA should get help from them.
