Titanfall Lacks Game Modes? Titanfall Is Getting New Game Modes

The cofounder of Respawn Vince Zampella said on Twitter we can expect new game modes for the multiplayer shooter Titanfall some time in the future.

cfc784103d ago (Edited 4103d ago )

Until they drop the bots and up the player count i can't see this game getting close to cod/bf they can add all the game modes they like just can't get interested in titanfall.

thezeldadoth4103d ago

so you are personally uninterested so that means everyone else is? People on this website need to quit being delusional and realize they are an extreme minority in the gamer landscape

cleft54103d ago (Edited 4103d ago )

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, regardless of how you personally feel about that opinion. Titanfall is a great game, but it does have issues that some people will not get past. Rather it's the lack of a single player campaign, or the bots and player limit.

Just because you love something, doesn't mean you should blindly agree with everything about that product. It also doesn't mean that you need to bash everyone that disagrees with you and make a personal attack against someone that doesn't think like you do. There is no need to call this person delusional. Instead of making that comment you could have said why you love Titanfall and why this person is wrong.

cfc784103d ago

Yes im personally uninterested in titanfall but im not saying it's a bad game the bots and player count just put me off and i don't think im on my own in saying that.

Charybdis4103d ago (Edited 4103d ago )

Don't see why they need to drop the bots or the 6vs6 matches which already have been a success for many players. People have different tastes and preferences don't understand why some people want the game to take out features other people might enjoy, wouldn't it be better and less spiteful to simply ask them to ad new modes with these features.

They can and in my opinion should simply add additional modes (listen to wishes of their costumer base) for players who don't like the bots or want matches with larger number of players.

mcarsehat4103d ago

@zeldadoth

That's the life blood of this website, pointless opinionated shit.

Anarki4103d ago

He gave his opinion on the game, stop hating. He never claimed his opinion was everyone else's...

bennissimo4103d ago

Just like every PS4 owner magically has a top-shelf gaming PC so they can run Titanfall in teh 248,000pz!

Battlefieldlover4103d ago

I can't believe there's still comments like this around. Dude, seriously, just drop it.

gamer78044103d ago

Why would anyone want a game exactly like CoD? They can already just play CoD.

Skankinruby4103d ago

Yes and the success of battlefield really proves this....

SliceOfTruth8884103d ago

If you played the game and still want to rid of the bots and up the player you count you are doing it wrong

cfc784103d ago

Titanfall's a multiplayer game not a multibot game i'd just rather it be all players and larger player count is that so bad.

Strakken4103d ago

@cfc78 Oh, i thought that developers decided what their games were, i guess not...

Depending on which mode you opt into and which version you're playing (last-gen/this-gen).

Utalkin2me4103d ago

Ground war ring a bell? Just saying

T24103d ago

I won't knock titanfall specifically but I will say I never played small maps fps.. 6x6 cod is boring

MegaRay4103d ago

If I am not mistaking, casual > hardcore
So they did a good move putting bots (business wise, not gameplay wise)

Ghost_Nappa4103d ago

Skilled players will almost always do better than noobies farming bots.

n4rc4103d ago

They do..

Titanfall suits my play style and I'm usually at the top of the scoreboard..

I'll have the most pilot kills and also the most AI kills.. Its really not one or the other.. Keep moving and you'll find plenty of both

sinspirit4103d ago

@Ghost_Nappa

Nah duh better players will do better..

Belasco4103d ago

You can always choose to be uninterested and keep it to yourself, thats what I do when I see a story about a game I am uninterested in.

Torgul4103d ago

Yes but as it is MS related haters must hate

Irishguy954103d ago

I agree that they should have a gametype or 2 with just players, but thats it. It's simple, if you don't like the bots, don't buy the game. Stick to Cod and BF. Which are both stale as hell by now imo

cozomel4103d ago

BF4 stomps this game in every way. How is this game in any way shape or form fresh?

n4rc4103d ago

Wall running.. Pace.. AI titans that actually work.

Just to name a few.

Debaitable4103d ago

As someone who plays TDM mainly, more human players will be welcomed. Yes there is plenty of bots to shoot at but it's just not as engaging or satisfying going toe to toe with another player. Some of these maps are already big enough to support that change.

Pinkdolphinyfg4103d ago

What correlation does player count have with a games success?

RAWSTA4103d ago

When you make your own game call your own shots! Till then you will never play titanfall your lost our gain.

FlameBaitGod4103d ago (Edited 4103d ago )

Bots = Letdown
Maps = amazing
Player count for those big ass maps = SHEET

Overall score = POOP

This game is 1000000 times better than any COD could ever dream of being..

FanboyKilla4103d ago

@Cfc78 you sound like you dont even have the game. Cod lmfao, its dead in the water. Along with your feeble attemp to hate on titanfall. People still talking ha? How bout that infamous?

PraxxtorCruel4103d ago (Edited 4103d ago )

Based on your comment I can tell you haven't even played the game. In this case making your whole comment invalid.

ssj274103d ago

hahaha people are already bored of the game a week after?
Obviously i saw that coming and that who did not is a blind gamer who fall for any hype way to easy..

jayswolo4103d ago

Titanfall sold very well for an online-only new IP with an oddly low level marketing campaign, that is also exclusive to one console. I'm sure it's in the millions when you combine X1 and PC. 360 will give it a major boost for those who have not made the jump to next-gen.

Azzanation4103d ago

You clearly have no idea how Titanfall plays. Its not about who has the most players hence why Cod outsells BF all the time and it uses half the amount of players. Let me dumb down the bots in Titanfall so you can understand. Bots in Titanfall are like collecting items, the more items you collect the better your team becomes, instead in Titanfall the bots aren't there to kill you (However it does happen) The more bots you kill the better your team stands a chance on winning. They remove the bots then Titanfall will become boring.

3-4-54103d ago

Titanfall needs more new guns than it does new gamemodes.

greenyboi4103d ago

Good job . If this game wants people playing constantly they need to add more variety new game modes new weapons .we all know new maps will be added would be good if new titans was added but they said its difficult due to balancing issues

Summons754103d ago

Okay but that doesn't excuse the lazy devs for not adding it into the game. Just them taking more shortcuts that the delusional casuals will praise and pretend they are being innovative and reinventing the wheel.

woodytheone4103d ago

Hopin for singleplayer gampaign

KonsoruMasuta4103d ago

If the Single player campaign is as bad as the one in multiplayer, I hope they don't add one. The campaign is already terrible, and I wouldn't want anybody to have to sit through more lazy and terrible writing. Angryjoe pointed this out the best, in his review.

Harmy6664103d ago

But the campaign isn't terrible, the campaign is just multiplayer with some added context. Yes, the campaign isn't great compared to, say, Assassin's Creed, but it's not terrible.

The standard multiplayer matches are great, so why when they add context to them does it automatically make them terrible?

Tedakin4103d ago

That ain't happening. They take years and millions of dollars to make. They can't just throw one together in a month and put it out.

H0RSE4103d ago

The problem with people claiming that games need more gamemodes, isn't that the game actually lacks gamemodes, it's that the current gamemodes aren't engaging enough.

Many people who play TDM in games, will only ever play that gamemode, because they find it the most fun/engaging mode. Games don't need dozens of gamemodes to be fun or "worth it," they just fun ones that work to grab and keep gamers playing. More isn't always better, and I've always been a fan of quality over quantity, same for map counts.

Harmy6664103d ago

I understand where you are coming from, but why can't we have a large quantity of quality maps, or game modes?

H0RSE4103d ago (Edited 4103d ago )

In that case, you are simply asking for more just to have more. If you have quality maps, what would necessitate needing them in a large quantity, same for gamemodes? That being said, what constitutes as "large quantity?" I see 12 maps and 5-6 modes as plenty, if they are of high quality. BF started with only one game mode, and was MP only or SP with bots - no campaign.

What's happening is more people are playing games now, including many who didn't play games before, and it's having an impact where developers are using a sort of "jack of all trades" approach which content, where they pump out a lot of different, okay stuff to try and please all the different tastes, but it comes at the cost of none it really being exceptional.

I see it like this. If a shooter covers the traditional modes - TDM, CTF, KOTH, and Control point, and people are still asking for more, then I see those people as needing to find a different genre, or at least a different FPS to play. You can't please everyone, and I say don't even bother trying. Focus on creating exceptional content, rather than trying to cater to a broader audience by simply adding extra stuff.

KonsoruMasuta4103d ago

More is better in this case, because it adds more variety. Especially when they don't even have a single player mode.

They could have added extra maps and game modes to spice everything up. Game mode s araren't even cosmetic, they can lengthen the game by adding fresh new ways to play the gameand putting a new spin on gameplay.

H0RSE4103d ago (Edited 4103d ago )

But variety isn't some "golden rule" to greatness. Like I said, BF stared out with only Conquest mode. Splash Damage has been making only team-based objective shooters for years. TF2 launched with only 3 game modes and 6 maps, and classics like Quake and UT, started with only the "holy trinity" - DM, TDM and CTF.

When games are done right right, variety isn't needed, it's just an added bonus, this goes both for game modes and maps. I think devs need to stop trying to develop games to cater to as many as possible, and just make games they want to make. This is one of the reasons I respect Splash Damage so much.

In the wake of everyone wanting traditional modes, like TDM or CTF, SD stuck to their guns and continued to focus solely on the games they wanted to design, which are team-based objective games. It may cost them in audience size, but likely makes up for it in quality of content. You can't please everyone, and I see it better not to even try, especially considering some people will never be satisfied.

That being said, I don't see any of the modes/maps in Titanfall to be especially great, but they could be if they simply tweaked/changed the game mechanics, with no need to add any extra modes or maps. I do think Last titan Standing is the most fun mode, since it adds a higher layer of tactics/strategy to the traditional DM format.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1011d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games
