Frugal Gaming Review | Titanfall Xbox One

Not since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has the FPS genre made such giant strides forward, and although this can sometimes lead to missteps, Titanfall is much more hit than miss- Writes Brapscallion.

Yeah been playing this on my PC, and I am having too much fun.. Love the game

It's what I think we wished call of duty would have done over the years, add new stuff make it fun again..

-But I guess the only people who could really do that, are the people who created the secret sauce to begin with, and Respawn proves that without a doubt with TitanFall..

I am Loving the game, and that's all it comes down to at the end of the day, am I having fun... That's why I buy games... -and I'm having a blast, more then I did in BF4 and COD so I'm loving it... Awesome Game.

No arguments there. This game is a ton of fun. It was going to take a lot to convince me to stop playing GTA V...

Titanfall on XB1 certainly took me by surprise. The 360 will be collecting dust for awhile now.

No proper Campaign = No buy for $60.
Other FPS developers spent shit ton of money to produce high quality campaigns. The last thing I want is for this game to set an example for them, and tomorrow we wake up with campaigns gone from $60 FPS

@AliTheSnake1

Good point. The issue is that most recent MP focused FPS' "campaign" mode have been very poorly executed. Battlefield in particular and the COD series is also falling apart from what it used to be.

Didn't EA start segmenting their games at one point? SP vs. MP could be purchased separately online? (At least with a handful of games). This could* be the solution. Offer each for $30 - $40 or both for $59.99.

That way, if you were MP only (Titanfall) you'd only be paying a cap of $40 unless they rolled out an actual campaign mode.

The issue? They'd still need to subsidize their expenses and would likely default to microtranscations and horse armor type DLC.

It's a great review.

The game feels fresh and completely accessible.
It runs smooth and very fast on the PC, but I can't help feeling is this it?

It feels like a fantastic premise to a fantastic future, I'm not sure how long I will be in love with it for though.

FrugalDaz4107d ago

I love the game so far, despite the fact it doesn't run that smoothly on the Xbox One at present.

This game will either live or die by upcoming content. If they keep fresh new DLC coming our way it should see the longevity it deserves. If not I can see it fizzling out within a few months.

Fair score, great game, stupid amount of fun.

FrugalDaz4107d ago

I was finding it hard today because people were just jumping straight on to the Titans and ripping their brains out before you even got a chance to do anything. A few of the other players seemed strangely overpowered, but maybe that's just me being rubbish!

UglyGeezer4107d ago

It's probably you being rubbish.

Audiggity4107d ago

LOL. Way to deliver that message so gently.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
