Titanfall PC GPU Benchmark v2: R9 270X, R7 260X, GTX 750, GTX 760, HD4000, APUs

GamersNexus: "In this Titanfall PC video card benchmark, we look at the FPS of the GTX 760, GTX 650 Ti Boost, GTX 750, R9 270X, R7 260X, 7850, the A10-5800K 7660D APU, and Intel's HD4000. I threw a GTX 580 in there for fun. Our thanks to MSI for providing the 750, 260X, and 270X for these tests."

The intel iGP had a Beta driver update which fixes those issues.

I'm playing 1280x800 @ 30-60 fps all low, textures medium. avg was around 40 (tested on battery)

MacBook Pro 13.3 w/ Intel 5100.

I don't plan on playing this on it at home but its nice to be able to play between classes:D

We used the beta driver. If you read the article, you'll see that the mesh tearing only occurred in beta. It did not exist with the latest beta drivers. It was a low FPS, though.

Magicite4113d ago

this old-gen game runs pretty much on any antic

BigBoss92934113d ago

Hey what model Macbook do you have? I have the Late 2013 Macbook Pro Retina with 8gb ram and Itenl Iris graphics...I tired the beta but it wouldn't run, there wasnt any players in the matches and my character hand invisible hands also.

I would love to get this game if my Macbook can run it!

Th3o4113d ago

My model is latest, OCT 2013. You should be fine but I expect when there are alot of people on screen for you to drop to 30s.

Are_The_MaDNess4113d ago

why would anyone play at 8x AA its just overkill for a 1080p monitor really. 2x-4x or even just 2x with FXAA goes a long way.
most of the bad performance from this benchmark comes from this.
my GTX580 was running at 60+ FPS at all times in the beta..... so why is he running it so bad?

5yN4MWQU4113d ago

We had issues with the 580 strictly in Titanfall. That's why I asked the community to tell us how their own were performing! Thanks for letting me know yours is doing well!

Might be an issue with the specific card that Titanfall is unhappy with.

ABizzel14113d ago

Agreed I don't understand why they're using 8xMSAA either. Simply dropping to 4x MSAA would have put everything above the 580 around 60fps avg.

Dropping to 2x MSAA + FXAA should push the 580 up to around 60fps.

And using FXAA only should push the APU up to the high 40's.

I know most sites don't have the time to do about 50 benchmarks, but there needs to at least be 4, so people can get a better idea of where their PC stands.

1. Low + FXAA
2. Mid + 2xMSAA
3. High + 4xMSAA
4. Ultra + 8xMSAA

Gives you a better sense of what you'd normally play at on your PC.

I'd also like to see some benchmarks of the 750 Ti dropped into everyday average computers. To me that's the purpose of the 750 Ti (or building a small low powered media PC), not making a pro gaming rig.

Excellent article.
Well written and very informative. Although I found this line

"Titanfall feels sub-optimized to me -- it isn't a particularly stunning game, visually, but eats some of these cards far more than more graphically-demanding games."

a little disappointing.

With what your reporting it sounds to me like Respawn could've spent more time optimizing / polishing this game before release. That and the fact Respawn themselves are talking about upping the resolution on the X1 eventually tells me this game might've been better served with a couple more months of optimizing this title.

I haven't played the full version on my rig yet. I will probably pick it up down the road. My rig should be able to run this game full blown and buttery smooth. The beta did.

senis_kenis4113d ago (Edited 4113d ago )

So $119 r7 260x can run circles around xbone at 1080p if you set MSAA to 2x.

ABizzel14113d ago

I wouldn't say "runs circles", but pretty much yeah, the XBO is performing around HD 7750 - HD 7770 levels.

Im running with a GTX 760 and still getting the occasional stutter even after the new drivers, getting 60fps steady but drops quickly down to 40-50 for a few seconds :/

BlasterGR4113d ago

try using d3doverrider might help.

KontryBoy7064113d ago

what you should do is disable vsync in game and turn on vsync in the Nvidia control panel. It fixed that issue for me during the beta and I don't have it on the full release either. No stutter. I have a GTX 670

kiz26944113d ago

Thanks for the help! Did what both of you said, and i'm now running a smooth 60FPS! THANKS!

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1009d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1009d ago (Edited 1009d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

gurp409d ago

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
