If it needs mods to look this good, then it's not one of the best looking games.

It's one of the best looking games, if you have the mods*

starchild4127d ago (Edited 4127d ago )

That's absurd reasoning you have there. The mods are free. If you have the PC version it's simply your choice how good you want it to look. PC games are always scalable. In a way mods are simply an extension of that. It IS one of the best looking games thanks to the mods, but that doesn't change the fact that it is one of the best looking games.

I'm not knocking the mods, these do look impressive, but if it needs mods to look this good, it's not one of the best looking. It's an average looking game that was made better with mods. The game is what you get out of the box or what you get when you first download it. What you get at the gate is a very average looking game.

I can mod a barbie game and add blood and gore to it, but that doesn't make the actual game one of the most violent games to date

So because it's not made by the developer it doesn't count? If it's accessible to the game doesn't that make it part of the game?

Part of Skyrim is modding, therefor mods are part of the game.

Now if you had to crack Skyrim and modify the actual game code to even mod in the first place then you'd have a case but Bethesda wanted players to mod. Therefor user generated content is technically part of the game.

If it didn't launch looking like that, how can you count it? That's like bragging about how your car is the fastest production car, but you've had it modified from stock.

MS could compress their games on disc

Skyrim is still my favorite ES game. I’m playing through it again right now since I never finished it.

jznrpg32d ago

Morrowind is by far my favorite. But I’m getting old and played Daggerfall Morrowind and Oblivion before Skyrim

ActualWhiteMan42d ago

Yeah totally. Definitely won’t be hacking it Nintendo 🤞🏻

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

Christopher72d ago

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast70d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic70d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

dmonee70d ago

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

TheColbertinator70d ago

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast70d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.

At this point, if you still don't have these games, just wtf are you even doing?
