What did the Titanfall beta achieve?

Titanfall's short beta last weekend and earlier this week was a major collective event in gaming, an opportunity for two million fans to finally get their hands on one of the most anticipated titles of the new console generation.

It has 50 less players than Battlefield 4 and maps are around 1/5 of the size.

BF4 was still a shitty release, just making the point that Titanfall is nowhere near as demanding.

MS Gundam Battle Operation is still the king of mecha shooter! And its on PS3. So much fun!

A mech game like that is only going to popularize mech gaming like it: fast action and close quarters.

Unless hoping out of your mech, jumping on and hacking/stealing becomes a thing again, its not going to help the like of Battletech much less Gundam.

The beta made me preorder the game. I was sort of on the fence because I was getting burned out on fps. But Titanfall was definitely a pleasant surprise. Better than I anticipated.

Titanfall is amazing. I was really doubting that this would be anything different from COD from some of the previews and was wondering that 6vs6 was a huge blow. But after playing it I was hooked. Actually miss playing it now the beta is closed! The players count is a smart move cos u can see if everyone had their titan down it would be crowded on the map. Plus never got bored or running around not seeing anyone. The shooting mechanics are similar to COD but the style is different and fresh. With the movement so fast and vertical its a great element to the game. Balancing is great too as you don't ever feel like the cannon fodder or that u feel u actually lost. If u make the extraction its like a small win in a lost round.
Can't wait for this game. Sure there's a lot in the pipeline coming for this game. Always wondered if there would be a pilot vs pilot mode without AI and smaller sections of the map. Anyone else got any ideas for fresh modes?

While I certainly hope there are more modes, a pilots-only in a small map is pretty much COD. lol

I only played Attrition (time constraint), so I'm not sure what the other modes were, but I'd like to see a CTF. Holding a flag while riding an ally Titan sounds fun. Also, maybe having a base you have to blow up with the other team defending it.... blow up, mind you, not stand by and capture.

Supposedly some data miners have found code in the beta for some of other game modes. Whether it's all of them or not, but Capture the flag was in! That is going to be wicked. Like you said jumping on the back of a friendly titan with the flag. Sabotage is a good mode which i'd like to see in Titanfall.

Its funny.. I was really let down when I first jumped on it..

Yet every round I played that view changed dramatically.. Then I found the rodeo! Lol.. That was my main goal near the end and can't recall having more fun in a fps in years..

No doubt in my mind about this purchase.. Everything is awesome.. The netcode, balance etc.. Its gonna be fun..

But I'll be honest.. For the sake of variety, I hope they add stuff like pilot only without titans and even bots with higher player counts..

I fully understand focusing on your vision for launch.. But maybe dlc will give everyone what they want.. Options are always good

Most fun FPS in years. 25ms ping on MS servers. I heard Killzone SF had extreme lag in the last couple of days ... well, you always get what you pay for.

I had 40-50 ping average in my games running off a 50mbs connection. Then counting some of the people connecting from nowhere near the data centers, and there was a some decent lag at times.

Way more often than not a great experience, but I got jumpkicked through a wall at one point. lol

Nice to see the devolpment team working so hard towards a problem free release.
My personel gaming preference is not for multiplayer shooters, but this looks good enough that I'd like to try it anyway! This is bound to be a big sucess for them and looks like they deserve accolades for bringing some fresh ideas to genre that many fealt was getting a bit stale

It actually made me wipe the dust off of Ghost lol. Closest thing I could do to get my fix. Still feel withdraw though. I didn't think I would like the game that much until I started thinking about it while doing normal things in life lol.
