Titanfall seems likely to experience server issues at launch after news emerged that the company's beta is plagued by issues at the data centre.

Seriously....

A beta has a little down time and suddenly Microsofts servers are garbage, and Titanfall is gonna have launch issues.

So stupid.

christocolus4141d ago (Edited 4141d ago )

my thoughts exactly. this is why its called a beta test. bugs are ironed out and player feedback is collected to enable them enhance the final product.

TomShoe4141d ago

@4log

That's true, but expecting launch issues is fair at this point, since it's on online only game that's going to have hundreds of thousands of people playing at the same time.

If servers go down, the disc has all the functionality of a coaster, and people on twitter will get...vocal, to put it lightly.

badz1494140d ago

@christocolus

and you think that a beta will eliminate all the issues and the launch will be super successful? LOL how naive! this is EA that we're talking about, dude! how was Sim City or BF4 launched? you know, since BF4 had a beta too. pretty good, right? NOT!

Eonjay4141d ago

I really don't see the point. If it sells like hotcakes some server issues are bound to be inevitable. The important note is that the servers for the beta have been restored very quickly. Game releases on a Tuesday, Servers should be perfect well before the weekend.

Automatic794141d ago

I got on Today and did not experience any issues. Must be this site wants hits.

dsswoosh4141d ago

Lmao.

This article must be coming from a bitter Sony person who still can't play bf4 properly.

The bf4 servers have been working perfectly on the xb1 since it got released.

Sony servers are pure sh*t and this article is just grasping at straws.

The titanfall beta servers have been nothing short of fantastic.

OrangePowerz4141d ago (Edited 4141d ago )

Sure every single person who says something remotely bad about Titanfall is a Sony fanboy and the game heralds the second coming of christ. Some people are not hyped for it or are critical about it and that had nothing to do with the people having a preference for another console.

Besides of that BF4 wasn't working properly on any platform on release or shortly after.

Secondly the BF4 server are EA servers and not Sony servers.

xx4xx4141d ago

I actually think it's worse than a fanboy thing.

It's one of those people who feels the need to negatively counter something popular by being 'that guy'.

ITPython4141d ago

Seriously people, this is NOT a beta, it is a demo disguised as a beta. No NDA proves that without a shadow of a doubt. Developers did this all throughout last gen, and I would think people would be aware of this by now.

I understand it's a nice excuse for when things aren't working right, but face the facts... this IS a demo.

PsylentKiller4140d ago

A beta done right will look like a demo. Respawn has a very talented team. A team that sold 9 million copies of CoD 4 just on the 360, over a period of about 9 years. Ghosts sold 12.7 million to date for all systems. There's no doubt in my mind that Respawn will hit close to those numbers while only releasing on three platforms in three months.

H0RSE4140d ago (Edited 4140d ago )

Demo's don't typically involve listening to player feedback and purposely testing specific features, like server stability for instance...

That being said, Online games typical counter server issues on launch day, regardless of genre or developer. It has become pretty common to expect (regardless if they occur or not) some type of server-based issue for games like this, yet every time a new game is announced, articles like this crop up, treating the game in question like some exception to the rule or isolated incident....

SimCity, Diablo 3, a plethora of MMO's, GTA V, even games that aren't online only, you'd think by now people would be treating the potential of server issues on launch day in a very "matter of fact" way, instead of pointing them out like they possess the scarlet letter.

lsujester4140d ago

@H0RSE

"Demo's don't typically involve listening to player feedback and purposely testing specific features, like server stability for instance..."

Unfortunately, sometimes betas don't, either. :(

H0RSE4140d ago

@lsujester

But this one did, which was my point of bringing it up - to differentiate it from a mere demo.

Um what?

AstroCyborg4140d ago

its ea so yeah there will be tons of broken issues at launch look at bf4 as a perfect example

JsonHenry4140d ago

I've been part of so many EA games that have had server trouble on launch day over the past 15 years or so I just assume that if EA's name is on the box there will be trouble day one.

megazero124142d ago (Edited 4142d ago )

so stupid. They fixed the bug and its working just fine.

OrangePowerz4141d ago

Don't think it was really a bug in the game given that they said MS is fixing the issue when it went down. If it would have been a game bug they would have said that they are fixing the issue.

Chaostar4142d ago

I hate to be 'that guy' but don't be too disappointed if they announce a delay.

Surely it's better to release the game working 100% then push it out for a deadline with issues, right?

Muffins12234141d ago

A delay is not going to fix the servers problem, its bound to happen at any launch for a huge online game on the first few days.

AstroCyborg4140d ago

a delay would be better than a rushed product by ea look at bf4

mhunterjr4142d ago

I don't seer the logic is assuming that launch struggles are 'likely' based on the presence of a bug squashed during beta...

mochachino4141d ago

But the cloud and azure servers were supposed to ensure unprecedented levels of AI skill and reduce or eliminate most online issues that plague other games.

That's what the Respawn BS PR told us ever since the game was announced, "it couldn't be done without the cloud and azure".

I think the game looks cool but I hate when devs/publishers treat gamers like morons. I can't support that.

LogicStomper4141d ago (Edited 4141d ago )

"But the cloud and azure servers were supposed to ensure unprecedented levels of AI skill "

That just gave me an idea... What if... The stupidity of the AI at this stage was planned, so in the beta they would be like mannequins, but in the release, they'll use the Titanfall equivalent of Forza's 'Drivatar'??? That means that everyone who played the beta were test subjects to Respawn's master plan of creating the terminators of Titanfall. They'll be like... shoovatars?

I apologise for slightly going off-topic. :(

TrollBusterPro4141d ago

Seeing as how the bots can't wall jump or pilot titans, how could they learn anything from human players?

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1014d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1013d ago (Edited 1013d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

gurp414d ago

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
