According to source close to Industry Insider Thuway, Sony is trying hard to get TitanFall on to the PlayStation platforms, and at the same time, Microsoft is trying to secure it completely.

The 360 was losing traction in the EU while the PS3 only ever kept closing the overall sales gap with it. Nothing was saying "Xbox was the leading brand" prior to the DRM rumors, and once those started fan support stared falling for it almost hourly.

EA expected XBOne to be dominant throughout, but it's sales are already dropping fast with no supply constraints.

Microsoft needs TitanFall to succeed way more than EA. So they will try and keep it exclusive by shelling out the case. HOWEVER, just because a company has money, doesn't mean they can spend it willy-nilly, they are accountable to investors and shareholders, and if they are spending millions of dollars on slightly exclusive rights to one game, not the IP or universe, and it doesn't succeed, then they will have problems.

Not that I'm saying TitanFall won't succeed, it's on three platforms!

We are not just talking someone who owns stock but rather board members. Persons of importance were already calling to drop the division last year - and this was before E3 when the doors began to fly off the Redmond race car.

Stockholders for EA also are clamoring for them to get all the money from their IPs as is possible.

Here is a fact. There comes a point where businesses need to focus on their strengths and the Xbox brand may seem popular to you because you are a gamer and Xbox is your world. But the people determining the destiny of a billion dollar corporation do not necessarily see it that way.

And remember it is only going to get worse for MS after the Japan launch and as Sony continues ramping production to meet demand.

I mean it would be great - for FPS fans and likely EA - if it is still possible for the game to show up on the PS4, but is it really needed? If it turns into another Bioshock and takes a year to be ported will interest for it still be there?

Always found it hopelessly ironic that for all the attention and influence stockholders tend to get, the effect they can have on company decisions, that their actual presence much less choices have nothing to do with actual choices or results. That a product could do well and that company's stock could plummet, or that product does bad, is actually harmful, and stock goes up.

@deividas, I get the point you are trying to make but the idea of 'sony is for the gamers' then they will put their weight behind other projects that are more deserving of their new marketing muscle.

Trying to buy into a game like this is sort of against their statement of how they dont buy exclusives. Not like this would be the same thing but buying 'into' an exclusive can be just as bad. Especially when they have so much more quality games on the horizon.

Also if the 'gamers want something' then the gamers will do what is necessary to get it. Not the company. Thus gamers will likely buy into what is needed to play such a game. And who knows, they might like other games that are available to the platform they buy into initially to play said game.

That isnt a bad thing as it helps to promote growth in the industry. I see too many people who never even tried something because its not on their platform of choice so they would rather shun it than give it a fair chance. These systems....they are just the means to play. The main goal is to play the games not the bitterness of the systems behind them.

I come from a different time. One where it was okay to play the field because you knew that to play this game or that game meant you had to have this system or that system. Maybe not right away but at some point it behooves you as a gamer to put aside any console grudges and just enjoy the games.

Ps4 fans can't really be this foolish if they really think EA will screw over their biggest, YES BIGGEST, customer in MSFT. This deal would have to be for Titanfall 2 and forward. Not to mention MSFT also pays those extra advertising fees, like with Fifa and Madden. Even EA isn't dumb enough to ruin the best relationship for all future EA published games for one game. To be fair, this is revisionist history that a lot of people are now making. Ever since the Xbox 360 launched, it has dominated the US market - which is the single largest gaming market for consoles. Sure, the PS3 kept gaining traction, and overall has overtaken the Xbox 360 worldwide; however, in the most important market for publishers Microsoft was selling more hardware and more software (including edging the PS3 in most major third party game sales).

So with that knowledge, plus the thought that Sony's console wouldn't be as powerful as it was publishers thought Microsoft would at the very least continue its US market dominance. Factor in just how huge of a company Microsoft is and the potential support they could give a game/platform, it's really not that unreasonable that EA would expect the Xbox One to sell well enough for a large timed exclusivity deal to be worth it. Then, Microsoft threw even more cash at them and the first game is exclusive overall.

I'm not saying EA made the right choice even with what they knew then. But most pundits that talked about the next gen consoles usually were more confident in what Microsoft would offer. Let's just be honest here.

Since this article is filled with PS fanboys (and xbox too I know. but mostly PS). Let me tell you that sony needs to fight for you to play this game.

I am playing the beta right now and it is absolutely amazing. It is extremely fluid while being intense and just filled with epic moments. This has honestly made me never want to play call of duty again... it would just be boring.

I think Titanfall 2 will go to both sony and microsoft. Sony fans need to hope so. You can act like you don't care and you don't want to play it but trust me, you do want to play it.

Also, it is kind of a big deal that microsoft secured titanfall1 for the X1. This will sell some systems... it is fucking amazing

Destiny, The Division and ESO are 3 games and yes ESO and The Division isn't FPS games I know but I don't play games because of their genres I play the games I think is most fun and Titanfall is not a game I would find fun to play for more than a couple of hrs max.

They are talking about the next TitanFall release. The first one is already exclusive to MS.

Now MS is looking to lock the game up in perpetuity. Which would be a smart move on their part.

Sony however wants to have the next TitanFall too.

While I don't doubt that there are some serious top level negotiations going on, I find it surprising that Thuway needed insiders to tell him something that anyone with 2 brain cells could figure out.

Thuway has demonstrated several things:

I don't see what all the fuss is about with this game. Talk about artificial Hype! COD with mechs and air jumping. Good, but not exactly ground breaking. This is obviously going to be an X1/PC exclusive (moreso exclusively not on Sony since MS like to buy friends) so prepare to hear how awesome it is being shoved down your throght for the rest of this generation.

You must not know that there's a new CEO in charge, and investors are not happy with the entertainment side of M$. The days of paying 3rd party developers for exclusive rights to games might be coming to a end.

M$ will instead have to start developing more games using their 1st party studios.

Also M$ going for a deal similar to the COD series. Meaning xbone will get DLC first, not a big deal.

Right now the success of TitanFall has a lot riding on it at this juncture in time, because now that the initial holiday, and next gen demands are starting to see a downturn in console momentum, TitanFall could potentially give the Xbox1 a needed boost to reignight that forward momentum.

But if unsuccessful a lot of money could be lost in the process, which in the bottom line hurts investors.

Why is it that no matter how much MS and Respawn and EA tell exactly what is going on...fanboys willfully ignore it because they don't want to hear it, then spit out incorrect "facts". Titanfall was not locked down during the DRM deal, it had exclusivity, but timed. Since the reversal, Respawn/EA extended the exclusivity to make Titanfall 1 (at least) exclusive for it's entire life. Even on Respawn's website this second, it says that they chose to work with MS because they went to Sony and MS saying they had an idea for a game...needed certain dedicated server support, and Sony could not provide that, yet MS could...and even better than they asked for. It only takes a little research...go find it, stop spreading lies. SO the real answer is that until Sony MASSIVELY upgrades their network service, it can't run Titanfall, and even if it does....do you want to play on a service that barely hacks it?

Honestly, TF looks bad to me. The parkour is used for the same effect that jetpacks and double jump had been used for in shooters for years, but with the parkour flare. If you are advertising a versatile movement system then give it more importance then stylizing the game. It needs a hardcore stealth mode that climbing around structures is a big part of. If I want a mech shooter than I will play Hawken, which is F2P. The mechs in this game don't have much variety.

It's just smart business, especially if Respawn is serious about maximizing profits. Sure, they could take a lump sum up front. I don't think they thought Xbox would win considering the PS3 made a comeback and surpassed the 360.

What it is, is EA didn't think the PS4 would come out the gates swinging like this and knock the other consoles out the way, so fast. When they saw the sales of both consoles they thought it would end after the holiday rush, but the PS4 kept going strong, and now they've realized just how big of a mistake they've made.

It would be so funny if they tried releasing TitanFall on PS4 and no one bought it because of the former deal. I would die, but good for Sony on trying to get it, and good for MS for trying to keep it.

No, they went to EA and were hoping for a 1-year exclusivity on Xbox (which was supposedly the original EA/MS contract), so they could focus on developing for one platform at a time, and then MS moneyhatted full exclusivity before EA could see how badly the PS4 would outsell the Xbox. The game has turned out to be a PR disaster for Microsoft that has done nothing but to make just how absurdly weak the Xbox One graphics hardware is compared to the PS4.

It would be a humiliation for Microsoft if the PS4 got a graphically upgraded version of a game that has so much desperate hype and money thrown at it as some sort of miracle game that will magically save the Xbox One.

engine uses a generation ago, it is normal that it is not a true next gen game in graphics, not to mention that Respawn is a production company with few resources and little, could not use an expensive graphics engine, because they could not have the budget for they wanted, if the game comes out on the ps4 would be the same thing in graphics.
Titanfall was thought out just past generation, and uses an engine is dated so if was not for lack of power on the xbox, pc version would be much higher if it was a lack of power on the xbox.
ps4 and is slightly more powerful yes, but this power will only give better performance and in some cases better resolution, but the visual difference will be minimal, will be like ps3 vs xbox360

One game won't make or break the game for MS, unless that game is Halo. I buy Playstations because they have the games I like, Xbox fans do the same. If you want Halo, Gears, Forza, etc., X1 is still the way to go.
Now, if the new Halo disappoints and Gears becomes problematic in development, the MS is in trouble. For their sake, I hope their new IPs work out and they can provide more competition than they appear to be at the moment. I'm quite fond of the way Sony acts when they think they're in for a tight race.

It may as well be their only game... look at the exclusives line up this year for both XB1 and PS4. One has Dead Rising 3,Forza, Killer Instinct, Titanfall, Project Spark and Ryse. None of the others are worth mentioning in my opinion as Quantum break most likely wont release until 2015..... PS4 has DCUO,FFXIV,Deep Down,Killzone,Infamous,TheOrde r,PlanetsideII,Outlast,Resogun and Oddworld..... Titanfall had better deliver and big.

The Order: 1886 gets "barely" any heat because we don't know much about it. The reasons Titanfall gets more heat are obvious and numerous:

- multiplatform game
- more publicity/more information/less secrecy
- people are playing it already

Off Topic: I'm sick of hearing about how Microsoft has all this money to burn. They may be a big company, but they still need to MAKE money. Right now, they're obviously throwing loads of money toward advertisements, media, (timed) exclusive deals, new IPs, etc. They're going to have to make all that money back, y'know. If they bought exclusive rights to Titanfall for, let's say, $250 million, it wouldn't benefit Microsoft if they didn't make back that $250 million somewhere else. They're not a black hole of money. Microsoft has more money to spend. I see a complete buyout in the cards. Microsoft is in phase of the console cycle were they have to sell as many consoles as they can. Now its going to be alot if they do probably around in the 600 million to around 1.2 billion dollar range upfront to the developer including higher royalties than offered by EA since microsoft would be making that money back in consoles shifted which would allow them to do thst unlike EA which makes money off of software. I think theres a chance a buy out will happen Microsoft has much to gain if they do and would be a huge blow to sony.

Microsoft won't spend huge amount of money to buy the whole ip or at least the exclusiveness for this gen, it will cost them billions, it will definitely comes out on PS4. People tends to think that MS has unlimited amount of money which obviously is not true. It is true that they have 80billions of cash or curren assets at bank, but how much will they spend on games, they have said 1 billion which is not actually that much. What does that 1b include? advertising included? MS has a history of heavily spend on advertising on games, the advertising fees heavily out cost the development fees. Nowadays, games cost hundreds of millions to make, GTA5 costs 260millions, Tomb raider over 100m.

After seeing the Titanfall beta and content planned on release, I don't think Sony should be too worried about missing the first game at all. They'll definitely get the second though, which will be vastly improved.

Not saying Titanfall won't be good, but it's hardly worth the hype and the content at release is quite barebones when you consider it is an MP game only.

I own a PS4 and if Titanfall was coming out on PS4 then that would be my platform of choice but I also have an Xbox One and a very good PC so I'm happy either way but it will make a lot more money if it came out on as many platforms as possible and they would get an even bigger budget for the sequel and hopefully blow our minds with stunning graphics and fantastic gameplay!

I'm not even concerned with this game anymore. It looks alright at best. The graphics are horrible for next gen, all that talk about the PC version being super high def ultra textures, then they show the recent comparison pics from PC/X1 and they both look like crap. The PC just had better AA. That's what happens when your engine is over a decade old. Why wouldn't they use Source 2.0 instead of 1.0. Valve is great 'n all, but Source 1.0 was never really a top notch engine visually, compared to other top engines used mainly for FPS games. Remedy is fine as MS is publisher. Titanfall is published by EA in this day and age most gamers expect third party publishers to be neutral. third party exclusives died out last gen. In fact this whole exclusive deal on titanfall stinks of collusion, where former executive from EA and head of xbox Don Mattrick struck a deal with former xbox head and current EA executive Peter Moore. Even Respawn said they didn't know of the deal until after the fact. The deal was dirty, thats where complaints should really be about.

Titanfall is boring as hell. You go around killing dumb AI most of the time then you get a Titan and kill some more dumb AI, when you actually battle a real player your Titan dies way to easy with pretty much two rocket launcher blasts or two Titans battle and take each other out in about 30 seconds. Rinse and repeat over and over. There is no real variation in gunplay or real perk system to change up the battle.

So basically the battlefield doesn't have enough real players it feels empty to me cause it looks and acts like dumb AI. What Respawn should have done was just have like 6 v 6 or 8 v 8 titan on Titan and forget the stupid AI, its boring as s***. If they were hell bent on using this AI then make a really fun survival mode or horde type mode with Titans and different enemy types and maybe a few vehicles like a futuristic tank or air vehicle, just something, this thing is a casual game and it needs alot of work to hold interest. Killing AI will eventually get boring for eveyone. Expiration date will vary per player but I can't imagine playing for more than a couple weeks for most players, if even that long.

Now if your a fan fine, but I tell it like I see it, I'm not some paid media person trying to pump up the volume and get you on board, if you can't see the problems and be honest with yourself then have at it cause I sure as hell ain't going to change your mind. This game is way to hyped and personally its not ready for primetime it needs more design.

The money would be better spent elsewhere, game is more hype than anything else. The k/d online MP market is flooded. It may be a bit different than BF and COD but its definitely not better.

I'm happy its good And competes with the big players but there's nothing next gen about it.

One good game that maybe Sony and PS3/4 fans needs to let go.

LOL "Noone care about this garbage" till yesterday. Now there is a petition every hour to bring Titanfall on PS4. I thought that PS4 owners were so pleased with Killzone :D .

In any case, If I were Zampella I would remain with XBOX ONE at least with a timed exclusive of TF2. XBOX community is very addicted to their flag games. Yes, PS4 is selling faster, but installed base is not everything. Halo became a cultural phenomenon when XBOX sold 1/10 respect to PS2.

Not sure why there's all this fuss over nothing. Titanfall looks like an Xbox 360 game on my PC at 2560x1600. Been playing the Beta for a few days. It's not all that different from any other shooter you can pick up. A little slower than COD, no destructible env, but definitely has solid controls. A lot of hype and fuss over a pretty standard shooter. Good for what it is, but not worth $60.

Yeah well if Respawn wouldn't of been stupid to begin with and sign that deal with Microsoft life would be much easier. As a PS4 owner I was jealous after watching some of the Titanfall beta but not enough to make me go out and purchase this for PC or the XB1

If Sony does accomplish this, at this point the XB1 would have nothing going forward to bank off of, thus I don't see this happening anytime soon. And in all fairness, this maybe the title that saves the Xb1, I say let em have it and do not give Microsoft the dagger just yet, let them slowly bleed out!

I don't want this Xbox Titanfall on PS4. I'd like a titanfall game be developed for PS4 / PC that takes full advantage of the PS4 hardware. 12 v 12 matches, better graphics, 1080p 60fps, destructible environments, etc. I think this Xbox version of Titanfall has concessions that were made and I don't want those restraints in place when the PS4 version comes around (if ever).
