Titanfall Beta Xbox One vs PC Max Settings Direct Feed Screenshot Comparison: PC Wins, not by Much

The beta version of Titanfall has been released on both PC and Xbox One, and there’s no non disclosure agreement or similar gag order in place, meaning that Respawn Entertainment is quite confident in the product’s quality, and that everyone is free to compare the two versions down to the pixel.

Not by much????? LOL!!!!
"The Xbox One version is obviously much weaker in resolution, and shows a very visible aliasing on the edges: you could seriously cut bread with those jaggies.
Texture resolution seems to be similar in most areas, but the Xbox One version appears to have lower resolution normal maps that cause faux 3D details to look a little rougher. It’s also visibly oversharpened and blacks seem a bit more crushed"

Abriael4138d ago (Edited 4138d ago )

Considering the difference in raw power, it's not much. They didn't really push the PC platform here.

I can easily run it all maxed at 60 FPS stable 1080p and 4x MSAA with a PC that's starting to feel its age.

Rig_Master4138d ago (Edited 4138d ago )

"Considering the difference in raw power, it's not much"

That's like trying to claim that someone won a race 'only because they are a faster runner'.

That's the point of the race.

It would be one thing if the Xbox One was running a graphically downgraded version of a PC game at 1080p. That would be bad for a console that is only a couple months after launch.

But the Xbox One is suffering across the board graphical downgrades from the PC version AND doesn't have enough power to even run those downgraded graphics at a next gen resolution and instead is stuck with the last gen 792p.

Previous Xbox consoles have been able to run the latest PC games with a minimum of parity for the first year and usually even some extra graphical effects compared to gaming PCs for at least the first year.

And to have all of this on a game with such an outdated engine is just shocking.

Salooh4138d ago

Or the game it self doesn't need a powerful hardware. It looks last gen with awesome gameplay (Except for the sniper).

FITgamer4138d ago

The difference is not huge, but noticeable.

Off Topic: for some reason i got sent 2 beta codes. One of which is for Xbox One, which i don't have. So the first person to PM me can have it.

truefan14138d ago (Edited 4137d ago )

Who cares, i got a BETA CODE, too bad I won't be able to play until midnight. Lol at all the people sitting on the sideline shouting trying to stop a freight train. The gameplay speaks louder than anything, just open your eyes and ears people. The hype is not based off screenshots, people are playing the game and enjoying it immensely, LET IT GO.

Deividas4137d ago

Exactly. You cant do comparisons with these because the recommended requirements for PC on this is not all that drastic. Which means that they didnt go all out with the graphics part of the game, clearly can see that by the texture quality of the environment on maxed settings.

impet254137d ago

FIT Gamer wutup with that code, I would greatly appreciate it if you hook it up. OT the game looks decent on whatever platform you choose aside from the jaggies on the xbox version.

FITgamer4137d ago

Update: The code is gone Dewitt got to it first.

hollabox4137d ago (Edited 4137d ago )

I thought the XB1 looked better in most shots, at least the rim lightning effects looked better except for the picture with the tank. The rest had some AA issues on the XB1, not thrilled about the polygon count, I think the X360 is holding back both platforms.

I'm still torn which platform I will pick this up for, well I guess it depends on my friends. Based on this articles my GTX 670 should run this game around 75 FPS or so on my 120hz monitor if the the 6600 can run smooth at 60 plus frames per second. Still waiting on AMD R9 290 or 290X prices to come back down to earth before I upgrade.

fluffydelusions4137d ago

Same. Maxing this out too no problem

xPhearR3dx4137d ago

I think you should re-check your settings. PC Gamer's screenshots look night and day compared to yours. The game doesn't look all that amazing graphically anyway, but you have a serious lack of AA in your screens.

Muffins12234137d ago

this is beta, does not represent final build.

TopDudeMan4137d ago

I dunno, I mean look at the one of the tank. That screenshot looks horrible on the xbox one.

ProjectVulcan4137d ago (Edited 4137d ago )

Xbox One runs this beta 1408 x 792 resolution, 2 x MSAA, and it is mostly 60FPS, but not locked. I don't believe it manages 'high' settings across the board either, as the shots illustrate with soem minor lighting advantages to PC. However it is fairly close.

Let me put it this way, an Nvidia 650ti 2GB can run this on high, 1920 x 1080 with 4x MSAA and average a similar 60FPS.

That's a £100/$140 graphics board.

We aren't talking super exotic hardware to badly trounce Xbox One on this game here.

Now before you go nuts I am sure the Xbox One version may improve before launch, but I bet that both AMD and Nvidia have a bunch of Titanfall specific driver optimisations to release as well.

titanfall has some weak graphics as a game

It looks comparable enough. Stop trolling as we all know the PC game was ran on Max setting on a full spec PC so of course it will look a little nicer.

As long as the game runs great, look good, and the online net code is fast, then that is that matters to XB1 owners.

RexLex4137d ago (Edited 4137d ago )

No one is trolling at all,.. It is just pretty damn shocking that Xbox One cannot run this game maxed out at 1080p60, since game sure isn't graphically demanding at all. Looks worse than COD on 360 and ps3.

thehitman4138d ago

PC version looks like shit dont see what the argument here is. If this game will do well and have legs it will be because of gameplay. Will it deliver is another question only way I will get this game if I got into a beta and tried it out first on PC.

Gamer-404138d ago

For you not important, dared only the Ps4 interests.
But, you would be happy if the Titanfall ps4 game. This 100%.

SIX4138d ago

Looks terrible on both platforms. If I didn't know better I would have told you this game is current gen. There are games on both the 360 and PS3 that destroy this graphically. Game play is a different matter though.

Eonjay4138d ago

This title isn't a good example of a title that would push the PC or the Xbox. The Source engine is relatively old so neither system should have any issues handling it. Same with the 360. I like to use Doom as an example. No matter how powerful your computer is, you can only get so much visual performance out of the original doom engine before you have to update it to something more current. I imagine that the next iteration of Titanfall will use a newer engine that supports more visuals, but may have more demanding system requirements.

This is a cross generational title so they wanted to use something that could easily run on different generations of hardware. The 360 version is almost guaranteed to be on par with the XOne and PC versions.

reaperofsouls4138d ago

A AMD Phenom 2 X4 965 Black Edition (4 years old) + Nvidia Geforce GTX 660 2 GB is hardly cutting edge in terms of PC spec , yet it destroys the bone easily.

medman4137d ago

If the pc version isn't demonstrably better visually than the xbone version, Respawn haven't done their jobs and they aren't optimizing as they should have done. The xbone version of titanfall can't exactly be considered a pretty game, and considering the limited players on the map and non destructible environments, it should look better than it does. I'm interested to see how it compares to the 360 version of the game, because the xbone version looks a little better than what I would expect the 360 version to look like. The game looks fine at a distance, but when looking closely at the Titans in particular it really isn't impressive at all.

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ4137d ago

For you to think there a big difference, you don't know jack about graphic design... I don't either as far as Game graphics, But I do make Awards and custom artwork for company logos.

3-4-54137d ago

All that means is that it COULD have looked better, but they can only do so much initially with this new gen until they master the hardware.

It looks good enough to be fun, I'm assuming that is what that matters for most people.

ExitToExisT4137d ago

I think the game looks nothing like a next gen game. It looks like an early last gen game.

Its the source engine what can you expect really. pc will always destroy xbox in any game if you have a high end gaming rig

Parhelion694138d ago (Edited 4138d ago )

Both look really bad, so having the "better" version is hardly something great in this case XD

(I'll be getting this on PC as well :O )

Abriael4138d ago

I wouldn't say it looks bad. It doesn't push the visual envelope, that's for sure.

That said, the art direction is great, and that helps a bit.

4logpc4138d ago

Who cares. This game is a blast.

thrust4138d ago

The sony people are jelly they care!

blackstrr4114138d ago

Snookies124137d ago (Edited 4137d ago )

Sony people can have a gaming PC as well, lol. Just saying... :]

Can't wait to check it out though, the game certainly looks interesting.

Gamer-404138d ago

PC Wins, but not by much. True. The blind one does not see it only.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1008d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1008d ago (Edited 1008d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
