Does 6v6 turn Titanfall into Titanfail?

Respawn’s Vince Zampella announced that the maximum player count for Titanfall matches would be 6v6 for the online multiplayer focused game. Does this mean Titanfall will be a bad game? Some gamers seem to think so.

I personally like their direction with Titanfall. For a while designers have struggled with allowing to players feel awesome and powerful in MP without making them feel broken, and the same time ruin others experience. When you get in a Titan you expect to roll some face... but if Titans were so powerful that you destroyed whole 32 man teams, then the game would be unfair, and no fun. However on the flip side of that if Titans were perfectly balanced... what would even be the point of getting in them if you get about 1 kill before dying? For example look at the Mantis' from Halo 4, sure they can roll some face... but when each and every kill you get is another opposing player. The game is frustrating to play and you feel powerless to stop it. However if you're bad at piloting it you get crushed IMMEDIATELY and you don't even feel excited to get in one.

Here by simply introducing a few AI opponents to crush in between the actual other players, it gives the game a nice fun feeling. Is it any less skill intensive when it comes down to PVP? No. But by adding AI you improve the experience for both novice and veteran players alike.

Gears is 5v5 and sells just fine. More players doesnt mean better online. Forza used to have 8 online and people would crash into you. Now with 16 people online, more accidents and stupidity to deal with. How much fun would it be to have 30 players running around...you'd be dead constantly. The maps arent BF size. You can put your titan into follow mode, so technically its 12 Humans and 12 Titans walking around. I think having to deal with 12 enemies is more then enough.

I think the majority of the haters are PS fans who are just jealous they wont be getting this.

i dont know why people are making a big deal out of this, the game is a fast pace FPS, if there were more than 12 player it would be chaos, then people would complain about it, That is human nature to complain about everything and never be satisfy

A game filled with AI soldiers and AI Titans and people are surprised it's only 6v6. Was I the only one watching the gameplay videos? Did you see the size of those maps. They were sections of cities that were war torn.

Since when did A LOT of players...make games good.

Have you played Planetside 2?
You spend hours wandering around looking for an enemy to fight and it just adds to the slow progression system. P2W at it's finest.
I prefer Hawken over that game and it's a very small scale Mech FPS game, a lot better combat and a F2P model that doesn't bone the player if they can only pitch in $5 every month here and their for that skin they want. The progression system is a lot easier to gain Hawken Credits for upgrades then PS2.

Have you played BF4?
They tried to bring the 64 player idea over to Next gen consoles, what a flop that was. Add the PC size maps that people wanted on consoles. What did console users get? A broken product.
What I want is them to work on good AI design and 6v6 works perfectly.
And it's obvious that a good chunk of the haters were just looking for an excuse to smash on Titanfall and not pick it up or a reason to not pick up an X1 because they're too cheap to pick up a decent PC.

I like PS2, but I know what you mean. Sometimes it does feel like <trudge, trudge trudge><Boom><Dead ><trudge trudge trudge> Repeat!

On the topic of Titanfall, I'm much more interested / concerned about the game play (such as having the AI bots) than it being 'limited' to 6v6. So I'll wait for the reviews.

I wonder how many people who are complaining about 6v6 were ever going to buy the game anyway.

People need to wait and see.

If it ends up that the game is awesome and fun - then 6v6 was the correct choice and Respawn are vindicated.

If it turns out that the game feels gimped or not fun, then people can start shouting about it and vote with their wallets.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
