From the review, "Namco High is too forced. It’s as though ShiftyLook did no research into the visual novel or dating sim genres, and just decided to see how far pandering could get them. The answer is, not very. Good storytelling techniques are thrown aside in favor of introducing as many possible, romanceable characters at once for players to buy."
Many people look back at their high school years and remember days full of awkward moments, hilarious adventures, tough teachers, new friends, and hoping to find that special someone. Released yesterday, December 17th, NAMCO HIGH, the new web browser game from Namco Bandai Games and Homestuck creator Andrew Hussie, aims to recreate those days of hope and love in a charming, funny visual novel full of characters from numerous Namco Bandai games!
Gamezebo: Namco High is the latest video game to come from ShiftyLook, the online branch of Namco Bandai which reinvigorates several of the company’s various, more latent intellectual property as webcomics and cartoons. It’s only fitting, then, that in this browser-based dating simulator from the creator of Homestuck, you get to pal around with various characters from ShiftyLook’s comics and beyond.
Namco High will be a free-to-play game. Free “datelines” will be available for playing through, as will “premium datelines” that you’ll need to pay for.
