Square Enix: FFVII Director On Chances Of A Remake

keep original battle system, yes it may be out of date, but keep the classic rpg style off ff7, id be happy with just updated models myself...oh btw i would buy two one for collection and one for playing ;)

The only ones that need a remake are VI and VII. VIII and IX would be too much and like you said, it would take too much time.

Enough with the remakes, Sony should get them to do new IP's exclusively for PS3. Last Remnant should've been PS3 exclusive. They'll see why when the 360 version sells like crap.

I think all Final Fantasy PS1 Era games should get re-made....as MANY gamers will re-buy them and most people prob haven't played them (was quite along time ago, new generation of gamers).

I don't know about a remake, how about you just release it on the PSN so we can download the original. While they're at it they can put FF8 on there as well. Sony would make a killing if they would just re-release the originals on the PSN.

i said they should do a ff7 remake in my post yesterday int "americans are tired of FF sequels" thread: which one of you gits is stalking me?!

truth be told though i'm not even sure how the logistics of this would go. would you just want the original game with revamped graphics? or a complete overhaul in the way things are done, battlesystem, interaction, levels, character development etc. it strikes me as an incredibly double edged sword. (no pun intended)

i'm all for it as i love the story of ff7, but for me, i think i'd want a complete overhaul, the only true part remaining from the original would be the story.

They could change anything they want. But I just want them to keep the original battlesystem intact. By far the best battlesystem in any Final Fantasy Game, Final Fantasy X would be my second Favorite.

I liked FF12, once you get the hang of the gambit system its pretty cool.

For the FFVII remake I would like them to not touch the combat, active time battle and Materia is still great in my opinion. But with the remake I think it would be cool to include the entire story from Crisis Core, Before Crisis and Dirge somehow using the FFVII battle system.

with the cost of making games these days - most companies that have great previous games will be cashing in on remakes...look at capcom..look back at old franchises to be brought to life in HD.

i have no doubt that they will make it...it would sell millions + millions of PS3's aswell.

of course itll be for PS3 only...the first FF7 was on 4 discs..im sure square will use the full storage of the blu-ray and in 2years time 100GB disc properly wont be that expensive.

i hope they keep the style and fighting system the same and add a punch of new things.

1. Square-enix shows FF7 tech-demo on PS3
2. They pushed back FF13 + FFVersus13 twice, but Square-enix told us that FF13 was orginaly planed for Playstation 2 and that all settings and characters and Story were final. Why than they need more Time???

4. The Directors comments about the compilation of Final fantasy VII.

Pretty much said all i wanted to say...

FF7 remake is inevitable... Whether or not some fanboys are scared it wont be done right, there are too many people who really want this game...

I for one want it because i love the game but i also kno a bunch of people who want to play it, but dont want to see those PS1 graphics...(I say they are spoiled graphics whores but whatever!!!)

I think after FFXIII and V.s are released is when we will start seeing things about this and a new Kingdom Hearts!!

The FFVII remake is a mater of When not IF. I never heard of Endless Crisis but that sounds more like FFVII-2 that was hinted at in the secret ending of Dirge. Whenever either happens wont be at least until FFXIII and VS XIII come out because Nomura is needed and he is working on Versus XIII and most of the others are working on FFXIII. I would wonder what they would do about the soundtrack. Nobuo Uematsu isn't with SE anymore and they didn't contract him to do the Crisis Core soundtrack and that was still incredible. That being said they did contract him for Advent Children so I guess they could do it either way.

if it was announced tomorrow that the game was being made for the 360 or Wii, would that make any difference to the die hard fans of the series? If it is the game franchise you like then it really shouldnt matter as to the system it is available for.

Case in point, the series really had a following on the NES and SNES and made the transition to CD for the PS1. Fans have followed the series from each generation console it has evolved on. I like the early games and can say I am one of the rare ones who has not played VII. The last one I played is X and before that it was III on the SNES.

If a remake was released for Wii or DS or PS3 or PSP or 360 it wouldnt matter to those who like the series more so than the platform it is on. If you are a real gamer then you can appreciate gaming on all platforms. With that said, I would pick this up for whatever platform it is made for. Despite being published by Sony, Square owns the game and can make it however and on whatever system they like.

Sure, Sakaguchi has left and made Mistwalker. However, Mistwalker is not console exclusive. So he can return "this one time" if he so wishes.

And as for the great Uematsu. His company, Smile Please, is also not console exclusive. And has continued to compose for SquareEnix along with Mistwalker.

So the original people can do a VII remake. But I have a feeling it may be awhile before we see it. :/

However, they are not owned by Microsoft. They are not like Lionhead Studios, in where they can only make games for Microsoft. Mistwalker made a game for Nintendo (ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat). They are free to make games for any console they wish.
