T3 Sony PS4 review

The Sony PlayStation 4 finally arrives to take on the Microsoft's Xbox One in a next-gen gaming war more drawn out than any product launch we've seen. But in a console battle often fought more on ethics than specs, with the hardware now in our hands, what does it all add up to?

So far based on my experiences with the PS4, I would give it 3.5 out of 5. Hardware would get 4.5 out of 5 and software 2 out 5. Sony put a lot of effort into this system and it shows. The design is nearly perfect. The shape of the console is perfect for any entertainment system. I was really caught off guard at the size of the PS4. I was on the fence at first but I was swayed by a few games PS4 offered. So far Kill Zone is a beautiful game, yet for game play it seems to be lacking in most areas that makes this a well rounded polished shooter. The investment will indeed payoff in the near future. Friday I'll pick up the XBONE. I'm starting to agree with some developers. Don't give me a good looking game that lacks excellent game play. Instead give me a game that will keep me coming back for more. Give me a complete gaming experience. I can care less about 720p, 900p or 1080p. If the game plays like crap, its crap!

Can you elaborate more on killzone?

So far, I'm hearing good things. Like AI is really good, and game offers players multiple paths/ open environments and tactical options.

I don't get my PS4 til the 29th since I'm in European territory, but the videos and streams I've seen back up gamer's impressions.

Dont listen to anyone on N4G at the moment for one simple reason, all the ppl that have the ps4 at the moment are off playing their games the ppl on this site still that say they have one are mostly trolls and will lie about the games. My advice would be to go watch the live streams on twitch, you can chat to the ppl playing the games live and they can tell you and show you for a fact whats good and whats not :) hope that steers you in the right direction, i am in Australia so i have to wait as well.

@MRMagoo123

I know, mate. I'm Aussie too :)

One of my favourite shooters this gen is KZ for the reasons I listed above. KZ2 is still my favourite shooter this gen because of how good the AI and gunplay is. Mercenary and Shadow fall look to be headed back in the right direction of KZ2, which is more deliberately paced and more tactical than KZ3 which I hated due to it being a more accessable/ hand holding game that relies too much on scripted AI and set pieces rather than good design, which is what I find wrong about a majority of the shooters developed these days.

Just asking if he could elaborate on why he wasn't enjoying it.

I've been watching a tonne of videos and streams and they're just getting me even more pumped for the 29th.

The game strong suit is multiplayer. However, there are plenty AI issues in the campaign mode and offers nothing new to the FPS genre. Enemies don't make the experience of combat realistic. The narrative is murky. The plot is not-so-intriguing. Kill Zone Multiplayer has variety and depth. This portion of the game will keep you coming back for more. I would rate this game 7.5 out of 10. I didn't expect a 10 out of 10 for a launch title.

No my friend, MOST of the reviews on Killzone are pretty bad to average at best overall. The best thing about it is the graphics. If it were so good people would be playing it and not here on this site right now

@ MRMagoo123...I'm just providing my experience thus far with the game. As for trolling, I don't think I fit into that category. Any ways I believe there might be an issue I will have to contact Sony about. Whenever there is a lost of Wifi Signal, the system sometimes freezes. I have tried to press the power button to reset the system but nothing happens. I wonder if anyone else is having the same issue. My only fix at this time is to unplug the power cord from the rear and reboot.

This means they will likely be more open-ended decisions; speed runners may be in for a treat.

Christopher13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

I'll believe it when I see it. I also don't feel Bethesda games are stat intensive as it is, though. It seems pretty basic.

jznrpg10h ago

Bleh I want more stats not less. So lame going for casuals

isarai8h ago

Aren't RPGs SUPPOSED to be stat heavy? So are they leaning even more away from being an RPG? Ugh ☹️

Destiny already has the pretty hyper 'raid' fixation and then they added legendary raid dungeons. Hyperfixating in PvEvP wouldn't work as well because you need a lot more than 2% of the userbase to keep that going unlike raids that are propped up by streamers who make running them their whole job. Most players don't play all the raids let alone run them over and over. And most who play PvP don't want structured PvE elements.
