Otaku Dome's WWE 2K14 review:
Finally! Rasslin’s has come back to consoles, but is the new ownership under 2K Sports putting the WWE video game franchise back into the limelight of the 90s or does it reach a stand still.
WWE 2K14 is a 2013 professional wrestling video game, it is developed by Yukes and published by 2K Sports, and is available on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
I’ve been watching professional wrestling since I was about 8 years old I recall tibids of WCW (memory is pretty shot on the promotion, despite watching it more than WWE/F), and WWF now known as the WWE due to a incident with the World Wildlife Foundation. I remember the fun to downright ridiculous storylines and segments of the Attidue Era in orcer to compete with ECW’s hardcore wrestling style that was slowly making it’s way up the ranks in competition with the aforemention promotions. I remember Steve Austin driving the truck into the arena, the NWO, and a number of great (and not so great) storylines during that time period, but a lass professional wrestling has lost a lot of the boom that ocurred during the “boom period” of that time. Still WWE 2K14 allowing players to relive those matches and even some of those great in-ring moments from of that time makes it well worth any former or current fan’s time.
The best wrestling games range from all-time classics on the N64 all the way up to some surprising new hitters you should check out.
I was always partial to the arcade wrestling games like Saturday night slam masters, wwf superstars, wrestlefest, wrestlemania, wrestle war and then a NES classic... pro wrestling. By the time the N64 era of wrestling games happened, I wasnt into wrestling much anymore (tv & games).
Virtual Pro Wrestling 1 & 2 > Most games on that list.
Also, WCW/NWO Revenge should be #2 minimum.
WWE 2k13 thanks to the WWE Attitude Mode. Followed by WWE Attitude and ECW Hardcore Evolution.
also: ECW! ECW! ECW!
Some of you may know that the latest instalment in the WWE gaming franchise 2K20 was released late last year to generally poor reviews. Some of this was based on graphical issues, but mostly it was due to the many glitches and bugs found – many of which are hilarious to witness.
Fire Pro needs more love. The last PS4 title gets regular playtime from me.
I hear that there are financial troubles at the studio, but I'm hopeful for a Switch port one of these days.
I have Fire Pro for PS4 and PC but it seems more of like a Sim creator rather than people actually playing out matches. I still dont like anything as much as the N64 games
Yes, the WWE ones at least. The last good one was 2K14 and the last great one was Here Comes the Pain.
There's been so many great wrestling games throughout the years. But this list of the 10 best wrestling games of all time will crown one true champion.
