Couldn't agree more. This game really is good looking. And on top of all of that, it's a fun, addictive game too.

Unfortunately, It doesn't get the recognition it deserves because it's a niche game on a Nintendo console...

Nyxus4245d ago

Yeah, I'm surprised not many people talk about it. Aside from the graphics it's also a great game. I hope it sells some more copies.

Magicite4245d ago

also one of years least known game.

Picnic4245d ago (Edited 4245d ago )

It would have done with the faithful if it had been on the Gamecube. But the Wii divided Nintendo's audience. I was never that hot on Nintendo back in the 80s and early 90s- apart from a few SNES games like Super Mario World and DK County, it was mainly the epicness of the N64 that made me take notice. It was such a leap of art project scale - the N64 had these huge, cunningly designed worlds - it was an abstract beast par excellence, often thanks to Rare. The Wii started to undo part of that in a successful (for a generation at least) chase for majority tastes. The N64 and Gamecube had been relatively hardcore (despite some appearances). For some, like me, those are a golden age when, through blatant undervaluing by the public of creative genius, Nintendo was not necessarily getting all the limelight with the masses. Early Wii actually had some mature titles but it ended up going back to being a 'Famicom' 'family computer' and, ever since, it's Playstation that I can most rely on most for the quirky games (at least the indie ones, the XboxOne is going to have Quantum Break which looks interesting). I'm not going to buy a WiiU to play a small handful of the quirky games that I like plus not even having Luigi's Mansion 2: Dark Moon on it yet.

Shnazzyone4244d ago

Okay, hope you also won't be getting the xbox one or ps4 because those will have even less games. While wii U will have watchdogs, COD:ghosts, and AC4 along with pikmen, wonderful 101, Mario game, windwaker HD, the definitive version of deus ex: human revolution.

I'd say now that the price dropped and the first game wave has begun. Now's the time to buy a wii U. If you're smart you'll wait on ps4 & xbox1 until either a price drop or they get more than 4 games coming.

Picnic4244d ago (Edited 4243d ago )

Shnazzyone, the WiiU's £239.99 for a console with broadly similar graphics to the PS3. Meanwhile the PS3s price is £170.

That's £70 extra for the privilege of playing a handful of what are probably admittedly nice looking games. But the extra screen is a distraction to me- it's like holding a child's Leapfrog pad. As they say in the Hudsucker Proxy it's for , you know.. kids. But it's dear in technology terms compared to the competition. Some of the young at heart will buy it too yes but the problem for Nintendo is that the competition learnt - there's plenty for the young at heart on the other consoles. in indie games or upcoming games like Sunset Overdrive and Knack. The casuals propped up the original Wii's sales and now Nintendo are probably still looking at the same numbers of faithful as the N64 had (30-35 million, in tune with 3DS sales), only some of them like me never bought a Wii and have been wooed by the PS3's indie games complementing the likes of Uncharted.

triforce794245d ago

I'm buying it at christmas with around 5 other games and yes it looks immense and very nextgen wow.....

Imonaboat14245d ago

Based on your comment history, i don't know if you are a troll or a very delusional fanboy ...

Ravenor4245d ago

Triforce79 has clearly drank the koolaid, ALL of the Koolaid.

Enjoying Nintendo consoles and games is perfectly fine, but man you sound like an illiterate PR person for Nintendo.

LOL_WUT4245d ago

They all spew the same PR stuff! Anyway I didn't really get into this franchise but hopefully it gets all the sales it deserves. ;)

Oh Sony/Microsoft pay 3rd partys to give them what appears to be superior versions in othe words under developing on ps3 and 360 to make xbox1 and ps4 appear to be good, look Killzone runs 720p/30fps that's a built from the ground up game very dissapointing but in the end who cares because WiiU 3rd party exclusives look awesome and alot better than anything ive seen on 1 or ps4..

Mariokart 8
Project CARS
Smash bros
Zelda
Bayonetta2
Donkeykong
X
Fast Neo

That's the best 2014 lineup you will see.....

"Sony and Microsoft pays 3rd partys"
"Killzone runs at at 720p 30 fps"

I cant even comprehend your stupidity ... First of all, Killzone runs at 1080p akd above 30 fps for the Single player campaign but it runs at 1080p 60fps for the multiplayer ... Secondly even if it did run at 720p 30fps it would still look way better than any wii u game.

Look, The 720i, 720p 1080p 1080i, 480p ... etc are just resolution they do not measure the graphics

for we are many4245d ago

I think every gamer has to experience this game, beside absolutely beautiful graphics, the game is supremely fun in a new, imaginative manner; it's very addictive and has fun multiplayer that I enjoy playing with my son after we finish single player sessions. The game is also, believe it, emotionally captivating in a subdued way as well.

WeAreLegion4245d ago

It looks nice, but with The Last of Us, Metro: Last Light, Beyond: Two Souls, Gears of War: Judgment, and God of War: Ascension out there, it's hard to put it up there with the big boys.

Benjammin254245d ago

No one is trying to put it up there with the 'big boys' And Metro: Last Light? Are you serious? One of the most disappointing sequels ever.

WeAreLegion4245d ago

As far as game play goes, yes. This thread is about graphics though. Pikmin just doesn't hold up.

Shnazzyone4244d ago (Edited 4244d ago )

WTF does that gif prove? We've had fabric effects since assassins creed 1 came out. Meanwhile pikmen 3 has something metro doesn't have. a full color palette that is pleasing to the eye.

Pretty sure it would be easy to show a video more impressive than that for pikmen 3.

I mean that's a nice gif but do you have any videos with someone having this much fun with Metro: Last light?

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

WeAreLegion4245d ago

I didn't say it was a bad game. It's a great game. The graphics are just nowhere near most of the bigger titles this year.

Chupa-Chupa4245d ago

It's a completely different art style than the games you mentioned. Pikmin 3 looks incredible and resolution doesn't look as washed up as most of the games you mentioned (not metro on PC). If there was yearly graphic awards, Pikmin 3 would be a nominee this year for sure.

thomasmiller4245d ago (Edited 4245d ago )

What a nintendo game that looks Next gen? yeah speaking of delusional and a troll! yes, this game is fantastic and this along with x and Bayonetta 2, show the wii u is next gen, don't care what the trolls say, and just because they say it does not make it so, and look at the comparison video of ass. creed 4, for ps3 and 4, the difference is very small, so I guess the ps4 is not next gen either! sony and microsoft trolls are the delusional ones!

deafdani4245d ago

You really think that the PS4 version of Assassin's Creed IV is representative of the actual power of the PS4?

It's not. It's just a quick port made for the PS4 launch. Just as most of the Wii U's third party launch games were quick ports, and aren't representative of the Wii U's capabilities, either.

I don't actually know how powerful the Wii U is - and for that matter, you don't, either - because we're barely on its first year. Games will only look better and better for it as time goes on.

That same logic applies to both PS4 and Xbox One... but make no mistake, there is actually a considerable difference in power between those two consoles and the Wii U. How much of a difference, only time will tell.

lilbroRx4245d ago

Funny thing is that people tried to use the Wii U's launch ports as not only representative of the Wii U's power, but as its abosolute limit and a lot of people still do.

Its ironic to hear Sony fanboys trying to play off the lack of gain demonstrated when they were hammering the Wii U for ports not looking that much different than the 360/PS3 ports.

PopRocks3594245d ago

@libroRx

It's propaganda at the end of the day. Propaganda and a whole lot of ignorance and stupidity. If you seriously think ANY game console's launch lineup is representative of that console's overall graphical fidelity, you're a moron. Flat out.

PS4/Xbox One have less confirmed 1080p 60FPS than Wii U. Want to know why that is? Here's a secret to all of the kids out there; new hardware takes time for devs to understand and they cannot take full advantage right away.

Wii U's been out for a year and the devs understand it better so the games look better than at launch. Look at the difference between Halo 3 and Halo 4 on Xbox 360 for goodness' sake. In time, the same will happen with Xbox One and PS4.

Qrphe4245d ago

@PopRocks
>PS4/Xbox One have less confirmed 1080p 60FPS than Wii U. Want to know why that is?

MH, Rayman Legends, WWHD and Smash will be all the known 1080p games by the end of 2014. Unless you mean to imply there is less than 4 confirmed 1080p games on the other systems which isn't true.

iplay1up24245d ago

Wii U is next gen for sure, but common the power of Wii U is not nearly as powerful as a PS4. That does not mean Wii U can not put out some great looking games, because it can. No there are not too many differences between AssC4 between PS3/PS4, but there are some major ones, like the weather and vegitation and such. AssC4 is just a port and not built from the ground up for next gen. I am a Nintendo fan, but moreover a video game fan.

lilbroRx4245d ago

Was never debated, yet you can always expect a Sony fanboy to shift the argument to this whenever someone starts showing the Wii U's graphical gains over the last gen.

Is Shigeru Miyamoto's 'A delayed game is eventually good' rule true for Nintendo?

Delays have become more common lately and several games have not been improved by it. Does delaying games work out better for Nintendo?

masterfox1601d ago (Edited 1601d ago )

it depends, if you have a strong leadership, vision and focus for the project or game, delays can help alot because the person in charge knows what it needs to realize the task, but if you don't have that, delays could completely destroy your game, take for example Cyberpunk terrible management and end result, it wouldn't matter if they delayed the game even more cause the issue here is not time is the horrid management.

"but a rushed game is forever bad"
~ not in these days of day1 patches, subsequent hotfixes and continued updates.
And the over-reliance on these conveniences has given rise to sub-par deliveries.

Rebel_Scum1600d ago

Give me these day1 patches, subsequent hotfixes and continued updates over my old cartridges that have the bugs they were shipped with.

1600d ago
Unknown_Gamer57941600d ago

Yeah, when games shipped with bugs in the past, those bugs stayed in the game for the rest of time. So, I'm glad that patches and updates can fix problems spotted in games after release.

What I'm less thrilled about is that it's a double-edged sword, as so many devs are now using that as an excuse to reduce the amount of time spent on bug testing so they can rush their product out ASAP. They're turning what is an excellent tool, into a crutch.

Sure, in the days when games were just on a disc or cart and couldn't be "patched" post-release, barring releasing an entirely new edition of the game, we were stuck with whatever product was released at launch. The difference is, devs made extra sure to test their games so they wouldn't be buggy messes. Once in a while a game would release with a bug that slipped under the radar, but I for one recall that most games I played in those days seemed to be just fine, and I can't say I've had much trouble since with retro games ported to modern systems.

I just think modern devs and publishers need to be held to a higher standard. There's no reason why a game needs to be a mess at launch. Patches and updates are an excellent tool, but they should not be treated as an excuse to cut corners. As it stands, that just gives me one more reason to wait before buying most games as I sure as heck am not paying full price for the "pleasure" of testing a game for a company whose job it was to do so.

gold_drake1600d ago

what if u dont have internet? over a substantial period of time? u happy with a bugged out game for 60 quid?
i wouldnt be. im not a fan of those day 1 patches.

“A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.” To bad they didn't listen with Cyberpunk now look at it. Honestly I like a game that is pushed back work out all the kinks maybe add new things to the game. I don't liked rushed games pushed out the door call it done for the holiday sales. I also don't like remakes that have half the content cut and sold at full price like RE3 remake. I will gladly wait for a game that is not rushed and had the extra time worked on it it shows they actually cared for the game when making it. I can understand minor bugs and a few updates to correct the bugs but unlike Cyberpunk you patch as you go I hate.

Firebird3601600d ago

Red tried. Gamers are also to blame, they bitch so bad about delays.
They wanted the game now and thats what they got.

Knightofelemia1600d ago

Only way I will bitch is if the game is delayed and turns out to be a piece of shit

Sashamaz1600d ago

Rather naive of you to think gamers forced a company to release a broken, and buggy game that's been in development for many years.

It is more likely the higher-ups/investors began asking questions on why the game was taking so long to develop especially as they have to keep pumping money into the project.

If what is available on the internet is correct then the investors did not even push for the game to be released early, instead, they were lied to and told the game was ready.

Either way, I would not blame a few vocal gamers, what company would let some random on the internet determine when they release their product.

Knightofelemia1600d ago

@Firebird360

Gamers aren't to blame they didn't bitch when Cyberpunk was pushed back for the December release. If anything gamers were mislead by the marketing of the game as a must have game. They even had Keanu Reeves marketing the game he was good in the game. Fact is someone knew the game was buggered up on last gen but they pushed the game out for the holiday season sales. Developers mentioned the game was not ready and should have been pushed back. Cyberpunk falls flat the gamers were bitching because the game is broken and voiced up because we were mislead by CD Projekt. And with a broken product you want you money back whether it's a cordless drill, cellphone, DVD player. I believe Sony got annoyed from the constant refunds they were issuing because Cyberpunk is broken I don't blame Sony for pulling the broken game. I think the reason why Microsoft never pulled the game digitally is because they sunk money and helped market the game as well. Now if Cyberpunk was pushed back to say fall of 2021 they would have had a good game on their hands. The bugs would have been worked out more features added to the game it would not have ended up as going down as the game with the shittiest launch in history.
