"..people who saw it at Gamescom and saw it at Tokyo Game Show were like 'oh shit they weren't lying, they actually did optimise everything, and the framerate is totally solid now"

people also noticed the texture resolution drop

Robochobo4285d ago

Can you source where people saw a texture res drop, or is this from "word of mouth?"

mkis0074285d ago

Pretty sure he is talking about resolution scaling that the game does to not dip below 30fps. I think it was in that last digital foundry interview with the named Xbox1 engineers. So ya they will sacrifice resolution of need be to keep it at 30.

JokesOnYou4285d ago

mkis he asked for a valid source of DR3 texture resolution drop for a solid 30fps, you follow up with "I'm pretty sure", and something about engineers is it so hard to link the proof, maybe cut n paste the qoute because I don't see it and you are the one making a factual claim.

NukaCola4285d ago (Edited 4285d ago )

Jokes, there should be a break down on the majority of the nextgen titles seeing how they stack up. FACE OFFs, analysis vids and whatnots.

P0werVR4284d ago

Of course it's word of mouth. Tell me anything anyone on here who has direct access to?! NOTHING!

It's funny how we have all these potential market representatives, ridiculous. lol!

thekhurg4284d ago

Here's the article where the Xbox One architects talk about using dynamic resolution to keep frame rates steady.

christocolus4285d ago (Edited 4285d ago )

texture drop?i beg to differ and if i am not mistaken i believe people actually said they noticed a slight upgrade in graphics along with a stable frame rate ...

If they want to see frame rate problems, they should play GTA 5.

GadgetGooch4285d ago ShowReplies(2)
jhoward5854285d ago (Edited 4285d ago )

@come_bom

You can expect some frame rate issues from a game like GTA 5 running on a older hardware such as the 360/ps3,But not the X1.

Beside, DR3 is a first Gen game(thats not to be expected) and GTA 5 is a 4th gen /5th gen game(Not sure which gen but you get the point)

Gamingcapacity4285d ago

I would say it's the other way around. 1st wave of titles will come with problems but as the gen goes on, they can optimise and improve. With time they can perfect the use of their engines and will have better hardware knowledge.

JokesOnYou4285d ago

jhoward Wow, really? Did you just start gaming its much harder for 1st gen games because devs are figuring out the new hardware= learn new tricks/better optimization. This site is getting younger.

jhoward5854285d ago (Edited 4285d ago )

@JokesOnYou

In some sense you're right, but what you fail to realize is that most Dev don't really know the full potential of a Dev kit until they start adding feature/effects.

Devs have to learn how to balance things(visual/features/effects /etc) until they figure out what works and what don't.

Remember this is not 360/ps3 anymore so the rules of method will change. Meaning Devs don't have to struggles as much as they did with the older hardware as such as the 360/ps3.

So the learning curve should be much faster b/c dev are using architecture that's similar to PC architecture; something they should already know how to do. So there's no excuses!

Gamingcapacity4285d ago

@jhoward. I see your point. One thing I'll give them is that it's hard to judge what you can do and can't do with the given specs. If you have to get the game out witin a time frame then you can end up with a game that doesn't run smoothly.

Dead Rising 3 is on a time frame and the game will have to go gold in October, will it be enough time to iron out all the creases?

JokesOnYou4285d ago (Edited 4285d ago )

@jhoward 1st the headline is misleading heres what he actually said:

"It is similar content, and a similar area of the world so people who saw it at Gamescom and saw it at Tokyo Game Show were like 'oh shit they weren't lying, they actually did optimise everything, and the framerate is totally solid now', and we're like 'See? We're not done, we're still working on it! Give us a break, there's two more months till we come out! We're human beings too! We have feelings too!'"

Jones added: "Listen to me when I tell you that we're still working on it. That build is weeks old, and we have guys in Vancouver RIGHT NOW who are staying up until 3am to solve that problem."

2nd No jhoward although similar like 360 was there is still always a learning curve, thats why its a console and not a pc, also X1 is heavily customized with hardware built in house, eSRAM and different architecture setup as well. Disagree all you want but clearly devs at yhe start of a gen making launch hames are at a disadvantage in many ways including time constraints.

Gr1mmyshadows4285d ago

I never noticed any framerate issues playing gta and i have it on 360

pyramidshead4285d ago (Edited 4285d ago )

Wait what, thought there was an article the other week telling everyone they'd nailed it and got it locked at 30fps. o.O

Chris124285d ago

Read the article, its completely out of context to what they're working on

BallsEye4285d ago (Edited 4285d ago )

Read the article please. Basicly people were impressed, saying everything is fixed but capcom said HEY HEY WAIT, we can do better, we're still not done!

Jovanian 4285d ago

Next gen consoles struggling to maintain 60 fps and they aren't even released yet

what a great start to the next generation

mkis0074285d ago

New consoles first games always run poorly. I was disgusted when I went back to play heavenly sword. Your argument doesn't follow because they will get better not worse...

HeyImBen114285d ago

Exactly, they aren't even released yet. Optimization is done in 3 or more years.

Also: Driveclub aiming 60 fps, Killzone SF 60 fps, Forza 5 60 fps, BF4 60 fps, AC4 60 fps, Cod ghosts 60 fps, Knack 60 fps

Don't see your problem.

BallsEye4285d ago (Edited 4285d ago )

Halo 5 confirmed 60 fps on e3 so it's also good news. 60 fps for shooters is very important.

Btw, wasn't knack 30 fps? Wish KZ single player would be 60 fps too , will be weird to jump from 30 to 60 between SP and MP.

AC 60 fps.. mmm can't wait!

joefrost004284d ago

Killer instinct and lococycle also

jony_dols4285d ago

Go back and play the 360/PS3 launch games and you'll realize how far this gen has come.

Once devs get a hang of the hardware, the optimization of games will become apparent.

PsylentKiller4284d ago

I don't have launch games to play now as they all were traded in but I did look at gameplay on you tube. Compare call of duty 2 to ghosts. Or look at King Kong and see how bad the graphics are now but remember how great they were when you first played them. It's amazing how far consoles have come especially with online play. Remember the X-Band? Lol

hollabox4285d ago

They need to add some color while their at it

Regis4285d ago

Yeah where other games have too much color it hurts

hollabox4285d ago

2001 called and they want their Brownish, Yellowish, and Grey hues colors back. Compared to DR2 (colorful) DR3 is not looking like much of an upgrade. Yeah you have allot more characters on the screen with higher textures resolution that is being masked by this awful color scheme DR3 employs.

Regis4284d ago

But you need to ask is color really needed for a zombie apocalypse game.

What Happened To The Dead Rising Series?

Over the last week, Jake has been going back to the Dead Rising 2 Off The Record remaster and has been an absolute blast. When he was 15 he first got his Xbox 360 and Dead Rising with it, it was unlike any other experience. It made him wonder though, what happened to the Dead Rising series.

Interesting timing. This retrospective was released just a few days ago: https://youtu.be/Et-cKSrWuc...

Darksonic221779d ago

Ah no, I just felt like writing it as I started playing the game again and wanted to offer up my opinions 😁

InklingGirl1779d ago

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the title.

1779d ago
MadLad1779d ago

Complacency and new teams who didn't understand what made the series special.

Darksonic221779d ago

Seems like there was just a ton of infighting aswell and so many more issues. Honestly sadly Dead Rising 5 before it was cancelled sounded nothing like dead rising, nothing learnt from. Dr4 at all.

ColdSin1779d ago

DR4 should have not been made anyways. DR3 closed everything nicely.

darthv721779d ago

Check out the vid i posted above.

MadLad1779d ago

They're a solid channel. I always click on their vids, unless it's a series/game I simply have no interest in.

RamRod881779d ago

They took away the depth and charm of the game that made it fun and interesting, and made it into a generic zombie killing game.

DeadManMMX1779d ago

This was the series the got me to buy an Xbox 360. The first one was so good. It still had horror elements. As it went on it became kind of a parody. Never forget getting Zombie Genecider achievement and then restarting the game to get the Mega Buster. That thing was monstrous against enemies.

Gamerking821779d ago

But you never know it might be RISING again someday .

moriarty18891779d ago

haha yes it may....good one.

The Decade's Bizarre and Quirky Gaming News

VGChartz's Patrick Day-Childs: "2020 is upon us! The past decade has had some downs, like the influx of monetisation within full games, Blizzard's community backlash and EA winning the worst company in America award twice, but also some ups, like the leaps in understanding gaming from more mainstream companies to wholesome news like gamers helping preserve a controller signed by someone’s deceased mum.

The decade has also been the highlight of some… bizarre news, and I decided collect together some of the more obscure and quirky stories to make you giggle or question what the hell happened this decade."
