Games Industry: "CEO Eric Hirshberg says it's a 'false narrative' that the company is risk averse."
What about making the same game over and over with little improvement? The guy talks like COD is a risky game to make, the sad thing is that I can picture him saying that with a straight face
A game in one or two genre is a pretty good indicator that your aren't creative though or at the very least aren't willing to take any risks.
In fairness making COD is a huge risk, activision are real risk takers, do you know how big your balls need to be to make the same game year in year out and hope it pays off? Huge risk. Lucky for them, gamer "bros" are suckers and soon parted with their money. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me annually several times...
With little.? Don't you mean NO improvement?
The same game in the same genre, with a yearly tenure is also not very creative.
These are the last people to talk about creativity or innovation. Seriously it's like they actually believe they are creative or because of CODs sales/success they think they are above everyone else.
Oh Thats why they love call of duty...
I REALLY don't think anyone from Activision should be giving lectures. What the hell do they know about being creative.
You it's funny that everyone here agrees that Activision does not have the right to say anything about creativity even though we game on different platforms.
Who knew it would be Activision that would unite gamers and end the console wars?!
You can include Apple, Capcom and mobile gaming in the list of topics that always unites gamers of every console.
Weird I feel that's what I feel about releasing the same game every year.
Dull of Boring ;) Activision have no right to say this... Look what they do every single year...
I don't think anybody would argue that. However, having a game in every genre DOES mean you've got variety. Far more than making all your money on two franchises that revolve around milking.
Well activision has a right to sprout PR BS ... but what the f*ck are those blogs and sites doing ? How about not rehashing PR statement verbatim and challenging their claims in interviews ?
I guess taking BIG RISKS with dogs and fish AI defines creativity these days
He is absolutely right. Launching same game every year with "intelligent fish" as a technological breakthrough actually mean that you are "creative"
