To say that video games don't really conform to the rules of traditional storytelling is a bit of an understatement. In fact, there are no rules at all -- from heartfelt final scenes with our favorite characters to abrupt black screens that say "CONGRATURATIONS," you really never know what to expect after the final boss goes down for the last time.
But even then, some games still manage to surprise you. Mainly because their endings are so completely out of left field that you wonder if the whole game leading up to it had been one big prank on the player
Tired of grinding through dungeons non-stop? Want to take a break for once in your life? No worries. Check out the best PS2 action RPGs.
Didn't expect to see Drakengard in a list like this, considering the awful gameplay. Still, it's the best terrible game I've ever played. 10/10 would recommend
Would love to see a remake one day, but only if they don't censor the fucked up story and characters. That and a Drakengard 3 remake, of course.
Some absolute gems on this list. Wholeheartedly agree with Rogue Galaxy, Dark Cloud 2, Radiata Stories, Odin Sphere, and Devil Summoner 2.
Some others, I can't comment on because I've never played or I didn't feel particularly strongly about them.
But hot take: I don't think Kingdom Hearts II really survives the test of time.
I cannot recommend Rogue Galaxy enough. It is on PSN+ as part of the subscription, so definitely check it out.
Square Enix suggested they might remaster more games from their storied archives—here are the classics we’d like to see get a new coat of paint.
I would definitely enjoy a Xenogears remaster. Recently finished Legend of Dragoon again (this time with platinum trophy) and would love to dive back into Xenogears with Fei and the rest of the crew.
Square Enix classics? dont they mean Squaresoft. Square Enix dont make classic games, just games with pretty graphics, no heart & soul, boring & over stuffed with woke Gen Z cockiness.
But while were on the subject i would love too see a remaster of Front Mission 3.
Looking for an MDK video game reboot? Let’s discuss everything we want to see in a new MDK game, from updated graphics and gameplay mechanics to fresh storylines and immersive worlds.
An actual game that does not suck. MDK was all about the selling Giger-style suit and the free fall imagery. The game was totally lacking cash-grab.
Now this is reboot I can get behind. I loved 1 and 2, I wouldn't mind a total remake of them.
This was the first game game I played on my iMac back in the day as it came bundled with it. haha Wasn't the greatest game but I had fun with it. I was very forgiving when it came to games as a kid.
Good list. Here is my own list:
1. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty - Crazy revelation after the credits.
2. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - The epilogue on Gabriel and Zobek.
3. Assassin's Creed II - Minerva directly refers to Desmond, solar flare discussion and Those Who Came Before endings.
4. BioShock Infinite - Whole ending sequence until the epilogue.
5. Final Fantasy XIII-2 - Whole ending of the game.
