Edge:Despite some bad blood having been spilled towards the end of Rayman Legends’ gestation – Ubisoft Montpelier staff were furious to discover they’d crunched for six months to finish the game, only for its release to be postponed by the higher-ups as a Wii U exclusive became a multiplatform release – none of that gore appears to have seeped into the creative groundwater. This is one of the most jubilant, vividly imagined and open-hearted platformers to come along in a long time. To play it is to vicariously experience the development team’s abiding love of videogames, and to be reminded why you love them too.
A little-known game Puppeteer is on this list for the best PS3 platformers.
Puppeteer is really good. Nobody played it because it came out right before PS4 came out. When I went to pick up Puppeteer from GameStop some people were trading in their old consoles for PS4 preorder.
Ubisoft barely have a leg to stand on lately, so do they need to crack open the vaults and return platforming royalty to glory for some goodwill?
We need Rayman 4, they could make a great platformer game if they wanted. With the open hub levels and the like.
Better than relying on Rabbids and Assassins Creed all the time
Yes..but I am sure it won't be the Rayman game fans want. Not from the company that is Ubisoft today.
Ancel is retired from games. His hoodlum/rabbid team are doing their own thing. It would not be the same if Ubisoft did.
Experience points, skill trees to fill up, level gating, endless menial tasks and side quests, constantly scrounging for resources. Always having to upgrade your gear. A.KA. "The Ubisoft effect".
No thanks, don't ruin Rayman's legacy.
A decade on from Rayman Legends' release, it remains a near perfect platformer, so what happened to Rayman? Will we ever see another sequel?
so people are already billing this as better than mario.
nintendo should pay attention, because as i have been saying for years, their efforts are getting weaker and weaker. especially the in graphics department.
nintendo need to go back to the drawing board with mario now and come bag with something that is visually stunning, otherwise games like rayman will be the future for platform gaming.
and with nintendo seemingly betting their companies future almost single-handedly on mario, they cant allow that to happen
'' hardly mario beating. ''
just read the reviews. look at the scores
'' What do you think ubisoft was saying when they pulled it and made it multi platform.? ''
they didnt have faith in the wiiu. they thought their game would be more valuable if it was given a larger audience.
''Yet mario has a few different art styles now. ''
yes, all of which have been dismal in his 2d games. they are merely functional. ubisfot have pushed the boat out with rayman, it is quite clearly cutting edge. there is no comparing mario and rayman graphically, rayman humiliates mario in that department now.
in a way, its a good thing, hopefully now nintendo will make the 2d mario game we all want, instead of the banal 'new' mario bros games they have been rolling off the conveyor-belt.
as i stated before, im not a fan of rayman, but in light of universal praise, its hard not to take notice. its a wake up call and i really hope nintendo are paying attention.
its also a loss for nintendo that they couldnt keep such a highly regarded game an exclusive to wiiu. worrying really.
