IGN Editors React to Playing Titanfall for the First Time

Ryan McCaffrey writes "At the Gamescom convention in Cologne, Germany this week, the IGN team got to play Titanfall, the new multiplayer-centric first-person shooter from Call of Duty co-creator Vince Zampella and his largely ex-Infinity Ward co-workers at Respawn Entertainment for the first time. Regular IGN readers know how excited we've been about Titanfall ever since its official E3 reveal, where we and pretty much every other media outlet on planet Earth awarded it the E3 Best of Show. Now that the time had come for us to finally play it, the question was: could it possibly be as fun as it looked?"

was wondering if it's better to use a gamepad on the PC or M&K because of the wall running?

"where we and pretty much every other media outlet on planet Earth awarded it the E3 Best of Show."

Hell yeah can't wait to get this early spring on my X1. X1 games are clearly leading the way for next generation gaming so its not surprising even well known sony folks are very interested. After I Ryse, Titans WILL Fall.

@JoY

The bias is strong in you.

"After I Ryse, Titans WILL Fall"

Lol, that was dorky but it does look like a really fun game. The epilogue at that end of each battle sounds awesome, why haven't other games done this!?

I think there were a lot of great looking and playing games shown off at E3 though. It may have been best of show but other titles got lots of positive attention as well.

The anticipation for next gen is just in overhaul mode.

JokesOnYou4315d ago

@TomShoe, yeah I'm bias. Who isn't?

@FamilyGuy "dorky" maybe, but I like it....besides it suits me because Ryse and Titanfall as I said minutes after E3 were two of my favorite games and still are, but yes there are plenty more amazing games I'm looking forward to.

TitanFall is going to be a GREAT game. Have a 360, but TF isn't enough for me to grab a XB1, so I'll play this on PC as I just built a PC earlier in the year.

I'm hoping this comes to PS4 eventually too.

MechaGear4315d ago

Since Respawn is utilizing Valve's Source Engine it might be a rather smooth experience even on moderate rigs.

Yep, this game will make me get an X1 in the spring. Curse you titanfall. I was gonna hold off on buying a second console till at least the fall with Halo 5 but nooo.....

Games looks awesome

CBoaT got so many things wrong at gamescom, can't trust anything he says and since he is the only source besides Vincent hinting interest. I say MS locks this down and considers purchasing Respawn, we'll see though.

creatchee4315d ago

That would be a smart business move. When you catch lightning in a bottle, you're foolish if you don't seal the cap.

Nik_P7574315d ago

MS isn't smart enough to buy quality studios. Have you seen there first party games over the last generation? 80% trash.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1012d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1011d ago (Edited 1011d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."
