Time and Eternity Review (Game Freaks 365)

I love JRPGs but Nippon Ichi Software's Time and Eternity didn't suck me in as I had hoped. This is unfortunate because I was really looking forward to the new title. It fuses hand-drawn artwork with animated environments that we really haven't seen in other games before.

bummer i thought the game had promise.

dark-kyon4365d ago

Why,i take a 6,7 jrpg everyday what a clonic shooter what have a 8,9 in metacritic.
atelier meruru, neptunia mk2,fate extra are game of 7 for the westerns critics but i enjoyed more what several "masterpiece" westerns games.

AzureskyZ4365d ago

i actually didnt like atelier series and didnt like neptunia either--- im truly miss the good ol jrpg days though

DrewMetals4365d ago

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I honestly think I scored it a LITTLE bit high, but I felt like it deserved a little more for trying new things.

@azureskyz, I didn't like the atelier or neptunia series too much either.

DrewMetals4365d ago

I did too! I was really looking forward to it!

izumo_lee4365d ago

True but i got to hand it to Imageepoch for at least trying something different. The concept & ideas were there to make a very good game it just that the execution & polish wasn't there. Which makes me think being a small niche developer working on the PS3 for the first time may be challenging for them due to the architecture of the system.

I said it in other posts i hope they are able to try again on next gen systems cause they had good ideas.

Still for me whether the game is good or not i will support these smaller Japanese JRPG developers cause they still try to be JRPGs.

Yeah, I'm still gonna get it. Not every game has to get 10s across the board for me to be interested.

And at least this score is reasonable, unlike the 2s and 3s it was getting in other places. I highly doubt the game is literally unplayable.

6/10 is the highest score I've seen for this.

Hopefully people don't use this as a " see nobody likes jrpg's anymore " type of argument.

We need good JRPG's like the PSone era had

EX: Suikoden 1&2, Grandia, Xenogears, Lunar, Star Ocean, ect...

This is a pretty decent score compared to other sites.

MrTrololo4365d ago

Sad this game got potential

CrossingEden4365d ago

http://www.youtube.com/watc... nuff said, we need the majority of japan's games to be original, that means ditching the anime style, dark souls did it, metal gear seems to be doing it with metal gear solid 5's hyper realistic style

Tdmd4365d ago (Edited 4365d ago )

It is a decent score alright, but the review made it sounds worst than it's score. It sounds to me like a pity score just because he really wanted to like it. I'll just wait for xilia for my jrpg fix.
